posted on behalf of lurcher link - http://www.lurcher.org/llink/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21342![]() Guy is a big GSD x with a lovely deep black coat. He's about 27-28 ins tall and about 2 years old now. He is vaccinated and neutered. Guy is absolutely fine here with me, my family and the various other dogs we have around ....BUT....he has been returned to rescue twice now for biting at kids.... so Guy absolutely MUST NOT be allowed near children or teenagers as he gets so stressed out by them that his response is to growl and snap. This is a condition of his rehoming and Jim Greenwood (Behaviourist) has said he will do a "rehoming package" for Guy and would like to be involved with his rehoming, in order to make it as easy as possible. Mich and family fostered Guy for a while before and Mich will vouch for him being a lovely dog, but even he has said he feels Guy shouldn't be rehomed to a family with young kids. I don't know what's happened to Guy in the past to make him act like this, but it seems to involve someone he doesn't know standing over him, which makes him unsettled. I've tried and tried to get Guy to grump at me, with limited success. My son has provoked a low growl when bending over him to put his Halti on....but he soon stopped when told to. ![]() Guy is not a novice's dog - he needs a strong leader who will keep him in line....but he's a lovely dog, very, very loyal and loving and (strange to say) very trustworthy in every other way. Given the right home, he would make someone a fantastic dog who would be a joy to have around. He's a really "honest" dog, with good manners and behaviour, clean in his kennel (and was in the house), good on walks on and off lead, but NOT cat friendly. Guy deserves another chance to enjoy life in a more relaxed environment - maybe as an only dog, or with a steady companion. ![]() If you'd like to know more about Guy, gt in touch with me as he's Chez Lurcher Link in Yorkshire atm - email kaye@lurcher.org or ring 01422 240168 |

He's a STUNNING looking boy, just lovely. It does sadden you to think how scarred he is by something horrid that's happened to him, but there's usually something to explain it & not their fault. My friend rescued a black GSD that had come from a family with toddlers. He bit her and the vet when he developed an ear infection 3m after getting him & they were putting drops in. She was shocked as he'd never shown any signs of nervous aggression and had let her stroke his ears and brush them etc Had to anesthetise him to treat it. She got in touch with the previous owners who initially pleaded ignorance but with some persistence (and a glass of wine in the pub!) she admitted that her 2 yr old once crawled over to him while sleeping and shoved a crayon into his ear trying to wake him. He woke with a start and snapped at the kid, the crayon got lodged and they had to rush him down to the vet - by that time the ear had swollen up and it was painful to get out. Explained a lot. But with time, patience and tons of tlc it will lessen. Claire's now got Fred to trust the vet to look in them but only she can clean them out/touch inside: a compromise she's more than happy with. Come on guys, there's gotta be a great adult only home out there who can take all the obvious love this guy's got to offer.. and I agree that perhaps a laid back boy or girl as company would really speed up his chilling progress. He's so handsome and just crying out for a forever home to settle in and show him it's all gonna be OK :dog cry: |
