ANVIL Ireland will host the first all Island Animal Welfare Conference on the 23rd of September. Entitled "Animal Welfare in Ireland - Going Forward" The venue is the main ballroom in Citywest Hotel Dublin. The conference will run from 10.00am until 6.00pm. So far we have speakers from ANVIL Ireland Dogs Trust UK DSPCA ISPCA Louth County Council VICAS Animal Welfare Federation Northern Ireland Blue Cross - Ireland We have also invited several other organisations and are waiting for confirmation. The feedback about this venture has been truly overwhelming, we have had offers of help and support from both the speakers and their organisations. The emphasis of the conference is unity among the groups involved in animal rescue, welfare, and education with a view to moving the important issues forward as a group. This will give animals the strongest voice and the best chance of actually achieving the changes they so desperately need. Make a note of the date. Invitations will go out to everyone on our contact list but it is important that people RSVP as places will be limited :new_thumbsup: - perhaps some members on the Biggsd Board would be able to attend the conference? ANVIL have hosted general and regional meetings here since its formation in Nov. 2005 , but this is our first major conference. If anyone feels they can attend, please let me know and we can add your name to the invitation list. |

If I know well in advance who's coming I'll do my best to organise a lift(s) from the airport to the hotel which is only about 30/40 mins on the motorway from the airport. I would need to know well in advance as I'll be stuck at the hotel from an ungodly hour in the morning on the day ! It will be a very informative meeting and will certainly give an overview of various animal welfare problems/issues here. and it would be great to put some faces on to very familiar names Some attendees here have already decided to come on Sat. so that they can meet up in the hotel and have a chat ( and a bit of relaxing !!!) the night before the conference. So it can either be over and back on the day , or come over Sat. and head back on Sunday evening. |

Just to simplify matters, anyone who feels they can attend the conference just send an e-mail to Miriam at ANVIL's e-mail address: infoATanvilireland.ie then she will place all your contact details on the list and send you an invitation to attend the conference. The invitation doesn't compel you to attend but it ensures that you get the invite from ANVIL and it will give details etc. Also, just in case anyone does want to come over the night before the conference, I'm going to contact the hotel to-morrow to "beg" for reduced room rates for people attending the conference and I will post details of same as soon as I have them. |
