Our GSD bitch got a new hip several years ago and it was a fantastic success. It isn't just that it gave her a whole new lease of life  - as we had hoped it would. The most amazing thing was that she walked into the vet surgery at 10am on the day of her operation, and walked !! out at 4pm the same day  ! Within a week she thought she was 'sorted'! It took another 5 weeks of lead walking before she had sufficiently convalesced for us to risk allowing her some freedom on walks, but really it was a truly amazing experience. All the anxiety and trauma was ours, she sailed through it and has not looked back. She's 12 years now and still runs with my 2 and 3 year olds  .
