Towns and villages

Finally I managed to implement custom tiles with real 3d villages and towns to campaign map. It means that every small village on map can have its own 3d village or town or whatever (rivers, different 3d elements) on battle map.
The only one problem is that player can't build forts or watchtowers on these tiles. When fort is built game generates CTD. There is one solution...

Fort or watchtower must be predefined for every custom 3d village or town. It means that player can build forts and watchtowers on campaign map and game won't produce CTD when battle is commenced on such tile, but every (at least most of them) custom village or town on campaign map will be automatically equipped with forts and watchtowers.

What do you think about it?

This sounds awesome. It would be nice if CA would give us the engine to mod, but I dont think its going to happen. Something they should have done with RTW was coded villages and towns in because they can play a large part in the overall game.

Sounds interesting. In ancient timeses nearly each settling had a watch buildings. The Danger was all over. The Interesting idea. The Battles will be beautiful.

Here few photos of new feature...

There are two options with custom tiles that finally can be handled by using of game engineering:

1. when forts are allowed on custom tiles on campaign map:

a) when fort is not built (though it's an option) it appears on battle map as blank slot (see. red frame on picture nr 4). Then center of the battle is 3d village.
b) when it's built fort will appear as 3d model and it will be center of the battle and VP (victory point) for custom map.

2. Forts are not allowed on cutom tiles on campaign map (can be done). It affects strategic gameplay. Often custom tiles will be located on trade, road hubs that should be protected by forts. The only one bonus is that blank fort slot is not visible on battlefield.

I'm waiting for your opinions. Which option is better?

I'd lean towards #2 only because I think there are too many siege battles in RTW anyway.

Getting rid of the forts will cut down on them a bit.

Hi. Siege battle will happen when fort is built only. Usually AI doesn't build forts. You, as player, may decide.

Both A and B is possible and necessary when option 1 is allowed. I will put few villages and towns on campaign map.
