Hi.

Some time ago one of my card stopped to work properly (artifacts on screen, freezes, etc.). I removed card from my computer for couple of weeks till today. I found instruction how to fix cards, motherboards by use of simple oven :). Yes, it's true :).
So, first I've removed cooler. Then I removed remains of thermo-conductive mass from GPU and memory modules... Then I covered few card elements (mostly those who seemed not to be heat resistant) with aluminum foil. After that I put my card into oven set on 180 Celsius degrees. I baked :) my card ca. 8,5 minutes...

And card is working :). Hahaha.

Fantastic solution. The reason is quite simple. Conductive materials (mainly tin) used in many cards oxidizes after some time and gaps in electrical flow are risen. Even when all parts like GPU, memory or condensers are ok cards stops to work. Heat produced by oven makes tin melted. Thank to it all gaps can be closed. Electrical flow is restored. Et voila :).

Honestly I think you're the only person on Earth to throw a graphics card in an oven and actually have it work better than beforehand :P

And you're wrong my friend. It's physics and electrical conductivity not magic :):).

This is almost as crazy as an article I read in a MaximumPC article about 10 or 15 years ago. They froze an ATI video card for some time and removed it from the freezer. When they took it out there was a huge block of ice on the card, so they let it thaw out, and when they put it back in, it ran better than before.
