This is encouraging that you guys are getting this thing going. Limes, my Seleucia test has turned up a great success. As before, I withdrew all my garrisons from the cities and let them revolt. I created a pile of spies while that was going on and sent them to check out what the AI had recruited. The AI did NOT RECRUIT A SINGLE MOB UNIT. You did it. Might have to extend that solution to the other factions which don't have it but your theory worked. Only snag I noted was that 4 Seleucid units: Bedouin Archers and Warriors and Persian Archers and Phalanx Pikemen did not have unit cards for Seleucid recruiting. That's an easy fix. I've got to run out on a few errands (remember my earlier comment about women being a pain in the ass) but I'll try another faction when I get back. Maybe Parthia? |

Finally, I'm appreciated :). I tried to give few region specific units to all factions. No mob fix was global one. Of course I could forget about sth. We'll patch it soon. Important question is which unit should be given to invaders. For instance Bactria will conquer Samnium. What do they should recruit? I tried to minimize amount of recruitable units for such situations. I'm fan "only expensive merc" solution. |

Ok. I understand you managed to install AEE. Good. What Windows do you have. XP, Vista32/64 bit or Win7 32/64bit. I need this info. |

Good question. Historically, of course, Bactria did not conquer Samnium. But the Roman Republic did fight in Spain for a century and a half and the entire time they sent Roman troops out from Italy aside from obtaining allied contingents. It was not until later during the Imperial Period that the Romans began seriously recruiting foreign troops and awarding them citizenship at the end of their service. I don't know why any nation would do things differently. Maybe, instead of "Mobs" we need some sort of generalized local garrison force which could be recruited by anyone, anywhere? Give them a decent defense level and a limited "attack" value? |

@ Venom So do I. If everything is installed well you should have "Activision/Rome - Total War/..." folders. There is "Data" folder placed within "Rome - Total War" folder. Within "Data" folder you should find "AEE" folder. If all above folders are in their place it means that AEE was installed well. If you started campaign it means that shortcut is ok, too. Now, disable compatibility mode using your shortcut. Then run the AEE as administrator. Please report if it works for you. Edited by limes, Mar 28 2010, 01:44 PM.

Again, Venom, I ran your game for 4 turns down to 279 with no problems. Built a building in Rome, recruited units in Rome and Capua, it worked fine. Here's your saved game back. (amended) |

Limes, report on Egypt. No problems building, recruiting or advancing the game. No problems with unit cards or building descriptions. I tried an experiment on Cyprus. After going through and turning off all the AI managed construction and recruiting I used the cheats to build Salamis to the point where it could recruit more than a mob unit. I then turned on the recruiting switch for Salamis and the other town on Cyprus. On the next turn, Salamis had recruited a spear unit and the other town began recruiting a "mob." Given no other choice, the AI will go with the mob. |

Well, it's really strange : I've tried to load my previous save called "current_game" (=roman campaign) and the result was ... my new egytian campaign !! (autosave=false) When I load the battle (in winter), the loading was stooped when I've clearly listened a sound of windows error but I've cannot seen it (even I used alt+crlt=suppr to manage windows tasks). I repeat this operation two times : same result (game blocked but NOT ctd) : I had to close the game manually. I think this kind of problem makes me crazy !!! Circomstances : original script of the game, AEE shortcut launched as administrator (compatibility with xp not checked). Edited by loet66, Mar 28 2010, 03:29 PM.

This bug appears when you load campaign or particular battle? I suppose you loaded campaign saved in current_game. |

Ok friends. I've loaded Loet current_game using my fundamental version of AEE. From this version I copied files into installer. Everything is ok, siege of Paestum (battle) - ok, everything ok. The same situation was with Spart and Maksim saved battle. It means that making installer in a hurry I must have forgotten about sth. I will look for missing file. Ps. It would be easier to become Axl Rose from Guns'n' Roses than release AEE :). Edited by limes, Mar 28 2010, 03:55 PM.
