If there is nothing wrong with the game the problem must lie with their installation. The fact that I can take a save game done on Win XP and run it tells me that AEE is working fine. |

You're right. Let them play till they will get the same CTD as yours. It will tell us more about real game play. |

They have to get past the first turn to do that, though. |

Dany, Here is your original file run down to 279 BC. I did not use the cheats but did build "Traders" in Capua and Ancona and an "Archery Range" in Rome (all I could afford with the funds available.) I also recruited a unit in each city. No problem with any of that. I was attacked twice by Rebel armies and crushed both of them via auto-resolve. See what happens. Also, check you desktop icon's properties for the Target and make sure it looks like this: "D:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod Adjust it so that it reflects the drive you keep the game on. I use a secondary HD labeled "D" but yours might be anything. In the previous test I found that the -show_err switch could cause some problems (although, I must stress, right now it is working fine for me.) But this isn't about me...it's about you. |

I deleted info that -show_err make troubles. It's working fine as it should.

ok thanks Spart, I use another HD too, labelled "D" for the games and others, but i made a folder labelled as "RomeTW", so should I make an Activision/Rome - Total War.....etc. folder like yours?

I'd say yes as that is the way Limes has designed the installer. |

Loet, I took your saved game and ran it as well (I'm glad I have all this free time...) The first time it crashed while loading the battle, just as you said. I reloaded it and applied the fix that Limes suggested for me. Rather than attacking I advanced the turn. In the following turn I attacked Paestum and this time it loaded the battle map and played out fine ( a bloody victory but a victory nonetheless.) This tells me that the problem is not sprite/texture related as I did nothing to either of those items. I'm not sure what the hell the problem is but I had virtually the same thing while trying to make an attack outside of Corfinium and it was resolved in the same way. Also, watch out for the Rebel relief army coming to break your siege of Arretium. I auto-resolved that one and got beat. |

Again, did you do a clean install of BI to ver 1.6 before applying the AEE patch? |

Downright bizarre. Especially as I had no trouble advancing YOUR game. Edited by Spartacus, Mar 27 2010, 02:36 PM.

I know. As I told Limes before, I've run into situations where the game simply does not begin to transfer the game to the battle map and, unlike when there are sprite/texture issues the loading bar never even begins to move. Also, I have show_err turned on and I am not getting the "Hey!Asshole I can't find the ....whatever.file" that normally comes up when there is a sprite/texture problem. Just for the hell of it I am going to try to generate a battle from the main menu. I haven't done that since I upgraded to Win 7. It never worked before. |

hey thanks for the test on my save game....Im still having the same problem even with Limes's saved game prolly on may end. When I installed AEE was there supposed to be an actual AEE folder or does the mod just overwrite the original data folder? |
