@ St. Francis the "-nm" switch stands for "no movies". Just remove that and you will get all the movies and the moving background. I personally use it because it makes loading the game faster. |

Hi guys. I'm working on new map ground textures. By the way I wonder if I could change strat map city models. Before I start to make sth new I would like to be sure it's worth my time. Hi guys. I've got few questions. Should be Numidia horde faction? Historically Numidians appear on cards of history around end of III BC (210 BC). AEE starts in 280 BC. It means that Numidians shouldn't be owners of Kirtha, Hippo Regius and other settlements. Making Numidia horde faction would at least give us more realistic scenario. Moreover, I can make Numidians appear at specified date as spawned on event faction. Due to above matter I've got second question. RTW has limits - only one faction may be spawned on event, so I wonder if Numidia is the best choice. Maybe Sarmatians should be spawned on event. Of course faction spawned at certain date is not playable faction. I need your feedback friends. Finally I resolved slaves resource issue. Slaves as resource can be traded (slaves appears in trade pop-up) every time when settlement is enslaved and resource slaves is added to descr_strat resources in a right way. If memory serves the Sarmatians were not much of a factor in the time period when the game begins whereas the Numidians certainly were. |

Spart. I prepare recruitment system. Every time I start coding EDB I think about its principles. Which one should be used in AEE? First option is well known AOR (Area of Recruitment) system. Factions are allowed to recruit different faction units in their AOR. Second one is pure Mercenary System. Units can be recruited only by use mercenary recruitment window. They are expensive, unit availability is limited. Merc system makes game harder. Third option is most complicated. Needs individual approach and its result is mixed AOR & Merc System. The system generates different unit availability for different faction. What do you think about it? |

Let's just consider the Romans for a moment. Until the Imperial era if you wanted a Roman legion you had to recruit it in Italy and transport it to the scene of battle. Cavalry and skirmisher/archer/slinger units could be recruited from allied states/ or newly acquired territories in game terms, or acquired as mercenaries. I'm inclined to a system in which Macedonian heavy infantry can only be recruited in Macedon and similar for other factions. Recruiting mercenaries, OTOH, is well-attested in historical terms and should only be limited by the types which were available in any given area. In addition, there should be some sort of garrison force available for recruitment at the lowest level of government building so that you aren't constantly putting down revolts. You asked. |

Hi Limes, i've just found out your mod and i think it's very good. I have a bug report tough: characters have movement restriction trait during spring turns not in winter: Also, this winter movement restriction apply to characters in desert regions. |

Hi Miles. Welcome to AEE forum :). I hope you will post regularly :). Winter movement limit was designed as part of campaign realism. Of course restrictions should fit to correct period of year (winter - shorter mov., summer - longer). There is small problem with restriction. AEE uses 4 turn per year campaign script. It's enough to start playing without triggering 4tpy script in first turn (or start 4tpy script one turn after saved campaign is loaded) and restrictions won't fit to correct season of the year. |

Welcome to AEE forum. Most issues will be fixed in next release of AEE Roman Wars and AEE Grand Campaign (they are fixed now for AEE Roman Wars). There are still few text typos mainly in descr_model_battle in beta release. Hotfix patches part of them. Hey. I'm sorry for late answer. I plan add new AEE Grand Campaign patch when AEE: Roman Wars will be tested enough to say "there are no problems with game play". I fixed many problems with code, DMB entries, etc. Making new map for AEE:RW I learned about numerous reasons of random ctd, which are stll mystery for many modders. I also found many nice features of BI.exe engine. One of them is Senate with missions (like in RTW). I've started couple of days ago testing campaign and there is no single ctd till now. I know almost all about game mechanics. I have to check campaign further to see whether famous 66 year bc bug still exist. I will try to make AEE: GC patch as soon as possible (fixes that makes AEE Swiss watch :)). I don't plan to add any music mod, but I can say how to do it. I'm not authorized to use licensed music, unless independent musicians would like to promote their music in AEE for free. If so I'm waiting for offers :). limes |
