O R I G I N A L F I R E t h e linkback t h e first-time ad Hanging lazily in the sky, like a corpse swinging in the gallows, an opalescent moon glimmers abnormally bright in a swathe of clouds. The canopied orb sweeps deep, wounded shadows across the coastal town of Freedom, Maine. Beyond the quaint outskirts of this city, beyond the knowing of the people living within its protection lay a neat and mangled circle of bodies. Rotting beneath the moon, bursting with determination to outshine its surrounding starlight servants. There lay two thirds of those part of the hunting population, serving to protect, huddled in a homicidal pile with blank stares, glassy eyes and hands still clenched on guns loaded with rock salt. The perfect pictures of athletic health ... minus the dead part. These masses, from whichever part of the world they came from had been united underneath one cause: to find supernatural entities and wipe them from the face of the Earth. Word had spread, spurred and roared into life by the ripple effect amongst these hunters that a town ... a small one on the east coast was slowly birthing into the latest evil paradise. And this town was responsible for the epidemic of people like them - hunters. Deaths flocked everywhere, disease tormented and bled the cities surrounding Freedom, Maine. The residents of whom clung to its already diminished and minute population. Mutilations, bloodshed, murder ... countless beacons becoming more known on the hunting radar. Caustic warning signs that have not gone unanswered, streams of hunters - and a scrambling medley of creatures, demons, people searching for salvation - have been migrating to Maine to piece together what happened to their fellow marksmen. The oddly named city that had yet to even set its sights upon the 1,000 population mark was cupped with the original power of life. Oblivious to this, the entire sea-breezed county had yet to experience the taste of what reality could really do to them. What lay beyond the sheltered domed restrictions of their way of life. All the cities occupants could say was that they were blessed ... how oddly accurate they were. The townspeople marveled, reveled even, in the obvious fact that they remained unharmed. That it appeared death couldn't touch them and how unfortunate it was that the other towns that fell around their radius suffered such cruel fates. They blissfully indulged in their good fortune that, unknown to them, the holiest one brought upon them. God was watching that town, punishing the wicked and rewarding the good. Protecting this town that had become like a sort of guinea pig to the almighty force. Hanging up in the sky, under twilights foggy camouflage; God killed those that He ... or She thought killed unrightfully. Murdering and pruning a population that didn't need to be weeded. A holy deity that had been conceived as the decider, someone who regretfully watched their Earthly children from Heaven ... is now interfering. And now? Destinies are being changed with great force, the unfolded text of every individual persons fate is erased and written over. The original things that life had placed in store for anyone and everyone has been disregarded and started new. God has now chosen to intervene and mapped out a new plan for the citizens of Freedom. Who among you will lead a life that you always dreamed of? Or face a future you could have only envisioned in your wildest of nightmares. Who among you ... will be smart enough to see what's really right and wrong. Before deaths that shouldn't happen happen. Or deaths that did happen, become undone. Before births that weren't planned go forward, unasked for. Who will live ( or die ) to see the original fire |
