*huggles everyone, save for Cthulhu...'cause it scares me* ^.^;

@Phi: Uhhh...I'm not sure. Try and revive Bury~, for one, but I'm also feeling an itch to create a new charrie. One with less than honorable morals... *grin* Annnnd then, I've also been thinking about expanding characters from stories past; especially those that never really took flight.

Why, is there something you want me to do?

Yeah, I know...:( I really wish we could get some old ones back up and running; but even then, everyone's tied up with like a million RPs, I'm afraid they'll fall flat again..

@Nick: Gamma Phi's a performing arts fraternity, right?

I'm Kappa Kappa Psi, (band frrat) just because the sorority, Tau Beta Sigma, was dead at my college. Became VP in my frat, and Prez in my soro, once I renewed our charter.

So, I'm a sister/honorary brother... talk about gender confusion. XP

Good luck! ^^ May you reach Hell Night, and die a new man! (KKP saying - which didn't apply to me!)

@Stormy: YEA! Now, whatcha gonna do now?

Yeah, so you're like a Little/Big sister...? I'm not understanding how your...whatever Greek organizations are. I'm not really understanding.

No, Gamma Phi isn't a performing arts frat. It's local, but there is a sister sorority called Gamma Phi Beta. And G Phi B is a national sorority, Gamma Phi is more like the angry little brother. I'm about a week into it.

It's the same as any other national organization, most carry charters - divisions, and they run them like service businesses.

KKPsi and TBS are service societies for the musical program of a particular college or university. They are local by their charters. Mine charters are Zeta Xi and Epsilon Eta for the frat and soro. They represent the college I was in. There's other charters under KKPsi and TBS that represents other colleges and such.

I believe yours follow the same format. It's typical for such.

And the rest of it, like the Hell Night and such, is more on the lines of hazing,

Hope you're not going through things like that. I was literally kidnapped out of my own apartment and handcuffed, blindfolded, taken to an unknown location, and told to walk across the edge of a high dam over a raging river to prove my loyalty to my pledge.

No danger. I stood on a balance beam standing out in the woods, over a running stream that was our swimming hole at a friend's farm. Freaked me out, until the blindfold came off. I was only two feet off the ground, but damn it felt like three stories.

Oh well, I thought Gamma Phi was under the arts.

Gah!!! You people are all insane!! I'm more likely to bomb a frat house than actually join one, social connections be damned....

Hey, I'm so not insane. They were not suppose to haze us, but they slipped a few things passed our directors. After that incident, dealing with 15 pledges and their upset families and friends, the whole active body of the frat was disbanded - reason why I became the VP of a fraternity.

It was a major scare tactic, the last of its kind. BUT, trust that my Tae Kwon Do skills were put to the test that night. My kidnapping was harsh - broke my ribs cause they dropped me on the curb after I kicked a brother's nose in.

After they told me what was up, I'd realized that I was among friends, and one of them I severely injured.

God, my parents were pissed.

Hot damn.

Pledging now is really mild compared to just a couple years ago, but I think SPC '05 (or '06?) was the last one that got peed on. The brothers have pretty much made it clear that we'll never be in any real danger, and they'll see to it that no-one gets seriously hurt. They don't force us to drink too much, and they never push us over limit.

I have heard of Kappa Kappa Psi now that you mention it. I think they've got a chapter on our campus. However, Gamma Phi is just a local social fraternity that likes to smoke weed all day and occasionally drop acid or do several drugs at once. Then G Phi B comes along and destroys our houses so that the pledges - after the brothers get us high off a g-bong - make the pledges clean it up. Trust me, having to do work while high sucks, because all you want to do is sit down and eat, but you're forced to do manual labour instead...

HA!! Wow, and I thought my years were the worst. Even with all the serious exposure on hazing keeping schools on alert, you guys still get away with murder.

My pledging year was in 1993, active from '94-'97. In my active years we had to plan our events, let the pledges know what projects and assignments we were planning - and to see if they agreed to them, and we had a Grand Bro or Sis Representative from the state charter who had to monitor each event. If they were not informed of one, we would be written up. Three strikes and our chapter would be 8-balled.

Looks as if you guys don't have to bother about babysitters anymore.

Yea, our Ice Cream Socials were about the same though - the off-campus events that we did not call KKP/TBS related - were actually KKP/TBS related. Get a mixture of beer, pot, music, heated hormones and madness in a co-ed fraternity, and a pledge who had a best friend with a posh pad on the lake, with parents that don't give a damn...makes for one messed up party.

Good thing I was the good pledge with the best friend - kept me exempt from a lot of the forced events in those parties, just because. Honestly, I believe that's what saved me from falling into all that shite - my best friend was my angel. He didn't let anything happen to me. ^^

It was just a bunch of drama, but we did a whole lot of great things for tons of non-profit organizations, and raised enough money for our band to do Euro Disney two years in a row. So, going through hell was almost worth it all.

They never force us to drink any more than we can handle, except during the lil' sis dinner (which wasn't even that bad) and Pick your Big Night, and likely Hell Night. But certainly nothing like the horror stories. I've only finished the first of three weeks though, so I don't really know what the rest of it's going to be like yet. We couldn't even do the "Scavenger hunt" today because of all the damn snow.

Believe me, the shit I go through with pledging is more mental than physical, and the hazing is really mild compared to what it used to be, mainly because three local frats got kicked off, and Sigma Nu was also booted but was allowed to come back on campus.

Surprisingly, I heard a rumour that TKE here might get disbanded since the national organisation wants each chapter to maintain 40 brothers, and at this relatively small school, it'll be damned difficult to do that.
