Heres a simple one.
Whatever song you feel like posting from day to day, that is a favourite of yours ,or you've heard somewhere and liked, why not post the lyrics here. I'll start. My song of the day.... The Great Beyond R.E.M I´ve watched the stars fall silent from your eyes All the sights that I have seen I can´t believe that I believed I wished That you could see There´s a new planet in the solar system There is nothing up my sleeve I´m pushing an elephant up the stairs I´m tossing up punchlines that were never there Over my shoulder a piano falls Crashing to the ground In all this talk of time Talk is fine But I don´t want to stay around Why can´t we pantomime, just close our eyes And sleep sweet dreams Me and you with wings on our feet I´m pushing an elephant up the stairs I´m tossing up punchlines that were never there Over my shoulder a piano falls Crashing to the ground I´m breaking through I´m bending spoons I´m keeping flowers in full bloom I´m looking for answers from the great beyond I want the hummingbirds, the dancing bears Sweetest dreams of you I look into the stars I look into the moon I´m pushing an elephant up the stairs I´m tossing up punchlines that were never there Over my shoulder a piano falls Crashing to the ground I´m breaking through I´m bending spoons I´m keeping flowers in full bloom I´m looking for answers from the great beyond I´m breaking through I´m bending spoons I´m keeping flowers in full bloom I´m looking for answers from the great Answers from the great, answers I´m breaking through I´m bending spoons I´m keeping flowers in full bloom I´m looking for answers from the great beyond I´m breaking through I´m bending spoons I´m keeping flowers in full bloom I´m looking for answers from the great Answers from the great, answers |

Ambition Acoustic version by Christian Defenestration. I see a man asking alms for a song, His raspy voice sing of love long since lost. Once upon a time he must have been somebody's little boy Now he's out here on his own, Far from home. I see a woman wrapped in rags against the cold, Struggling desperately to keep her children warm. Passers-by avert their eyes and shamefully look the other way; Terrified of what they'll find Behind a child's gaze. No-one asks these children: What do you want to be if you grow up? Would you like to be a doctor or a lawyer? Would you like to have a house someday and a new car in your driveway? Or would you like to live off the Dole and drink whiskey? Did Santa Clause bring you everything you asked? Is there anything on your mind besides staying alive? |

Games People Play by Joe South But I much prefer it sung by Dick Gaughan Oh the games people play now Every night and every day now Never meaning what they say now Never saying what they mean And they wile away the hours In their ivory towers Till they're covered up with flowers In the back of a black limousine in full: http://www.lyricsplanet.com/index.php3?style=lyrics&id=1001 |

Song o' th' Day for me: Look at your face, it doesn't shine the way it used to; Look at your eyes, they don't sparkle anymore. Look what you've done, you've ruined it for everyone; Who told you that you had to lose your innocence? I, I'm starting over. Audio Adrenaline - 'Starting Over' |

The Progenies of The Great Apocalypse-Dimmu Borgir The battle raged on and on Fuelled by the venom of hatred for man Consistently, without the eyes to see By those who revel in sewer equally We, the prosperity of the future seal Cloaked by the thunders of the north wind Born to capture the essence of The trails of our kind Zero tolerance must be issued forth Behind the enemy's line So it shall be written And so it shall be done [repeat 1st and 2nd verse] Discover and conceive the secret wealth And pass it unto your breed Become your own congregation Measure the sovereignty of it's invigoration We, who not deny the animal of our nature We, who yearn to preserve our liberation We, who face darkness in our hearts with a solemn fire We, who aspire to the truth and pursue it's strength Are we not the undisputed prodigy of warfare Fearing all the mediocrity that they possess Should we not hunt the bastards down with our might Reinforce and claim the throne that is rightfully ours Consider the god we could be without the grace Once and for all Diminish the sub principle and leave it's toxic trace Once and for all [Music by Mustis] [Lyrics by Silenoz] Dimmur Borgir for those of you who don't know is a symphonic black metal band from Norway. i'm not too much into the black metal scene but this band stylistically is fantastic. i'm not into the whole shock metal image. even the newer metal bands who are into all that shock stuff remind me of the oldies like KISS or Alice Cooper. but i researched the lyrics of this song i really dig by Dimmur Borgir and was really impressed of the writing of the band, especially coming from a black metal band. |

Here's a very unusual song, but I like it very much
"Twilight Odyssey" by Garden of Shadows We traveled towards land unknown Upon the winding path of fate Uncertainty, our companion Understanding, our destination We looked above to the heavens While fire blazed across the sky And seared it a brilliant crimson That quickly faded to gray... Enchanted mist rained down upon us Clouding the path with haze Vertigo sensation rising within As we hopelessly cling to vespers And begin to slip away... Into a vortex of undefined shapes Trying to grasp Some shred of reality A futile endeavor In this dreamlike world Infinity's child surrounds Where the golden chimeras fly As a phantasmagoria unfolds before our eyes As we yield to our invigorated senses The existence we once knew falls away And we spread our wings for the first time With unparalleled abandon We drink in the rich beauty That lies in the forgotten wisdom Of this unearthly realm... It flows into us As we bathe in the twilight glow And the secrets of the universe Are bestowed upon us In a celestial coronation As we rotate as one In harmony with the spheres... |

Hi, tattedsaint! That Dimmu Borgir song seems very interesting. But I've read that many songs by that band are Satanic... Is that true?

A cautionary tale
Madeira M'Dear - Flanders and Swann She was young, she was pure, she was new, she was nice, She was fair, she was sweet seventeen. He was old, he was vile and no stranger to vice, He was base, he was bad, he was mean. He had slyly enveigled her up to his flat To view his collection of stamps And he said as he hastened to put out the cat, The wine, his cigar and the lamps: "Have some Madeira, m'Dear! You really have nothing to fear. I'm not trying to tempt you, that wouldn't be right; You shouldn't drink spirits at this time of night. Have some Madeira, m'Dear! It's so very much nicer than beer. I don't care for sherry and cannot drink stout And port is a wine I can well do without. It's simply a case of "chaçun à son goût". Have some Madeira, m'Dear!" Unaware of the wiles of the snake in the grass And the fate of the maiden who topes, She lowered her standards by raising her glass, Her courage, her eyes and his hopes. She sipped it, she drank it, she drained it, she did And quietly he filled it again And he said as he secretly carved one more notch On the butt of his gold-handled cane. "Have some Madeira, m'Dear! I've got a small cask of it here And once it's been opened, you know it won't keep Do finish it up, it will help you to sleep. Have some Madeira, m'Dear! It's really an excellent year. Now if it were gin, you'd be wrong to say yes, The evil gin does would be hard to assess (Besides it's inclined to affect my prowess) Have some Madeira, m'Dear!" Then there flashed though her mind what her mother had said With her antepenultimate breath: "Oh my child, should you look at the wine which is red Be prepared for a fate worse than death!" She let go her glass with a shrill little cry. Crash! Tinkle! It fell to the floor. When he asked "what in Heaven?" she made no reply, Up her mind, a dash for the door. "Have some Madeira, m'Dear!" Rang out down the hall, loud and clear, A tremulous cry that was filled with despair As she paused to take breath in the full midnight air. "Have some Madeira, m'Dear!" The words seemed to ring in her ear Until the next morning, she woke up in bed With a smile on her lips, an ache in her head And a beard in her earhole that tickled and said: "Have some Madeira, m'Dear!" http://www.nyanko.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/fas/ |

True Colours - Cyndi Lauper You with the sad eyes Don't be discouraged, though I realise It's hard to take courage in a world, full of people, you can lose sight of it all And the darkness inside you will make you feel so small But I see your true colours, shining through I see your true colours, and that's why I love you So don't be afraid, to let them show Your true colours, true colours Are beautiful, like a rainbow http://www.lyrics007.com/Lauper%20Cindy%20...s%20Lyrics.html |

yes some songs are. from what i've heard about the band, specifically from a poster at CF (his name is Yam Kimil. he knows more about this band than i do) it seems from what i read of one of his post in regards to this band is, their earlier stuff was more of the cliched' lyrics that many black metal bands produce. but now, they are more apolcalypitc(sp may be off this morning :P)/non-theistic Satanism. which there is a difference, meaning in the views of one that actually worships Satan, and one that uses the whole "Satan" thing as an image of shock and rebellion and have more of a darker humanistic view of life. if anything, i feel safe to assume that their writing has matured from stupid chessy lyrics of the devil and such, to more of just writing things in a cryptic manner...no matter of what their views are/have changed. at least that it was seems on their |

As X-Factor starts again on British TV, I'm always reminded of Noel Coward's Mrs. Worthington: Don't put your daughter on the stage, Mrs. Worthington, Don't put your daughter on the stage, She's a bit of an ugly duckling You must honestly confess, And the width of her seat Would surely defeat Her chances of success, It's a loud voice, and though it's not exactly flat, She'll need a little more than that To earn a living wage. On my knees, Mrs. Worthington, Please Mrs. Worthington, Don't put your daughter on the stage. the full version is at: http://www.leoslyrics.com/listlyrics.php?hid=c33bEQWHci0%3D |
