Milky White Poo

My shubunkin sometimes has a long, silky, milky poo coming out. When I bought her I didn't know much about fish. It turns out she had ich and the "nice blue water colouring" the guy at the pet shop boasted about was in fact ich med. .blowup.

My fish has recovered *cross fingers* from ich. I noticed the poo started while I was medicating the tank. I believe it's a bacterial infection of some sort. I almost lost her. I found her "dead" at the bottom of the tank one morning.

I emptied and flushed the tank and left it to dry. I was pretty discouraged and didn't intend to get a new fish. I transfered her to a bowl of clear water and sadly went to work thinking I would bury her when I got home. While I was gone she came to life.

I was pretty confused and desperate at this point so I did something unconventional. I switched her between glass bowls of clear water everyday until the little white dots stopped appearing on the bottom and then a few more days after that.

I'd rather use a more natural method of medication as she's had enough chemical treatment to last her a while (almost dead was quite a reaction considering I used half dose because she's a baby). I'm supplementing her food with cooked pea every second day because I read it helps with the digestive tract. Overall she is happily swimming around. As soon as I move near the tank she swims to the top and waits for food.

I can't tell if the peas have helped. She had a little milky strand this afternoon that has dropped off, but I have been at work all day so I don't know if it is rarer. I'm doing a 10% water change every second/third day while the bio is sorting out.

Is there anything else I can do?

What have you been feeding? And if it is starting to decrease keep up with your standards you've put into place and continue to do so until a week has past without anymore
Welcome to WWFA please feel free to post and have a great time!

There is a world on our planet that covers 75% of it yet we know little about it and its creatures. Come and explore at World Wide Fish Association!

I'm feeding her Pro Balance Goldfish food flakes containing multiple amino acid and multi vitamins. I also have Marine Master goldfish granules that I use sometimes to mix it up a bit. Pea is every second day (began last week) and spinach as soon as I get to the market. I feed her at half daily dose, twice a day around the same time.

I had two live plants for her before the ich incident, but now I'm just too worried to put anything in with her that could transmit ich. In a couple of weeks I'll start to use a suspended zucchini/cucumber slice as something to nibble on.

I know it may sound silly to be fussing so much over one goldfish, but the poor little thing is a battler.

Tigger appears to have recovered from her milky poo illness. *knocks wooden desk*

I've been at my desk all weekend and haven't seen the stuff. She's also got a new plant cutting to keep her amused.

My brother's lonely comet has been swimming sideways and looking miserable. :(

First one fish, then the other! .fever.
