Rainbow Shark,Ruby Shark, Albino Ruby Shark(Epalzeorhynchos frenatus) Family: Cyprinidae Species: Epalzeorhynchos frenatus Size: 6 in (15 cm) Diet: Omnivorous Temperament: Semi-aggressive TankConditions: 72-79°F; pH 6.5-7.5; dH 10-15 TankLevels: Lower The Rainbow Shark, also known as the Ruby Shark or Red-Finned Shark, is great for the semi-aggressive community aquarium, as long as they are the sole shark and the other tankmates are of similar size. The Rainbow Shark is a beautifully colored fish which is a dark gray to black with red fins. It requires a large aquarium with driftwood, rocks, and spots of dense vegetation. This shark may set up territories around the aquarium. The Rainbow Shark will become very aggressive towards its own species. The Albino Ruby Shark, also known as Rainbow Shark or Albino Red-Finned Shark, is great for the semi-aggressive community aquarium, as long as they are the sole sharks and the other tankmates are of similar size. The Rainbow Shark is a beautifully colored fish which is a pink with bright red fins, and red eyes. Unfortunately,Sharks have only very rarely been bred in aquaria and very little is known of their breeding behavior. The breeding habits of the Rainbow Shark, Ruby Shark, and the Albino Ruby Shark's have not been documented. DIET: Live worms, brine shrimp and tubiflex worms. Frozen vegetable diet, daphnia, brine shrimp, worms. Flake and freeze dried foods also accepted. HABITAT: Thailand |

hey, how ya doin? i just recently bought a 1.5 inch rainbow shark and added it to my aquarium. its a 20 gallon with some good hiding places. i read that it was territorial but every time i watch a fish swim by its cave...it jumps out and practically attacks it. i dont know if this is normal or if he is different. lookin for some lessons... |

Yes that would be typical attitude of a rainbow your might be a little more aggressive then usual but same attitude. You'll have to move him to his own tank probably unless you add bigger species with him. |

i have a smaller 10 gallon tank with some tiger barbs and a pleco...would that be better for him? |
