Hi baz. I haven't owned one for a while but sent my secondhand rocket to 'pure fishing' who may still deal with abu's spares and servicing. They replaced the whole cage and bearings and didn't even charge postage. bargin!

Get all my reels repaired by Quintin Millman at Plymouth. He's now the recognised service centre for Shakespeare and Shimano (possibly Abu too) - may have been where your last reel went.
He has a website:- www.fishingreelrepairs.co.uk

when you say a service Baz what do you mean if its a simple service you can easly do that yourself google say "serviceing an abu6500" it takes less than an hour to do and you will have your reel for next session.

if not Peter coogan is the best.

Baz, Remove the clutch plates and give them a clean and they should be ok. There is not that many parts on the Abu reels, its not that difficult to remove every part. Once youve done it, the next time will be easy.

Hi Codfather... nope they didn't charge a penny.... not even the return postage. Reel came back almost like new :)

At the same time i had sent my two 7ht's to diawa's repairs/servicing dept.. they charged me £54 for some minor parts and a service .This didn't solve the problem which one had.... it would take itself out of freespool randomly whilst casting. :(

I was so happy with pure fishings service and disgruntled with diawa, i vowed only to purchase abu reels in the future...
However i now use penn 525's and have a tsm11cs for a backup :)
