When I went for my beach sesh down St Audries on the 25th whilst walking past the old wall on the beach I heard a loud crack from one of the stones in the wall - hurried on past it as it did have a rather large crack running down the middle of the wall - well I walked the dogs down there 2 days ago and was greeted with this site when i got down onto the beach -

I don't know whether it was knocked down or it fell down but it will be a bit safer now  - mind you the piece that's left hanging on the cliff face doesn't look to stable - probably be down this Winter when the ice gets in behind it and a few good storms lash the front of it - took another picture of the way they filled the void behind the wall when it was built back in the 1800's - some neat work there by whoever did it -

Thought I'd post this up to advise/warn others that use the beach - don't think wearing a hard hat on your fishing trip would do a lot of good though :P
Salt water doesn't taste the same as the fish that swim in it!
If you don't need it - put the damn thing back

HI bassman
did wonder earlier in the year how long it would last thought a ten meters
tide might finish it of .
have you seen the amount of landslide on blue anchor reef would have put it in the thousands of tons category.
have seen people walking under those cliffs gives me the cold shudder when you think about it.
have tried warning people over the last 30 years they look at you as if it wont happen to them.
nobody would ever find them until the sea uncovered them.

Yes have seen the one at Blue Anchor CCK - it slipped out again last Winter in exactley the same place - one reason you always need to be carful around a slip out - once the ground has moved with that large a slip out there will always be other smaller bits waiting to come down - there is one that you can see when your out in the boat down past Porlock - think it was just past Glenthorne - it has slipped from about 400 - 500 yds up the cliff - the original slide didn't look very big but as it's picked up more on the way down there is a fair old pile on the beach now.

Just a precautionary warning about the remaining part of the old stonework - was down on the beach today and there were a few snicks and cracks coming from the remaining bit of stonework so please keep well clear of it if your down that way for a session - would hate for someone to get caught under that lot !
