Anyone see the amazing footage of kate swimming with a conger in an irish loch last night? Had just plonked my self on the sofa after a long day lure fishing on chew to turn on to some brilliant underwater scenes.... When back in the studio kate & chris started talkin about the numbers of conger in british waters declining... and then they made some made some disturbing claims... that drop in numbers is caused by 'macho' anglers hunting the species!! I have only taken one conger for pot and witnessed only one other taken.... can this be the true cause if the british stocks ARE declining ? ...I don't think so? If the stocks of their prey was to decline (i.e commercial overfishing) then would it not make sense for their numbers and average weights to fall in accordance with available food? Gets on my nerves that licence money can go on paying these chumps to give the recreational anglers more bad rap. currently be played on bbc i player . -and don't she look like an old trout when she surfaces from the dive without her make up on...ha ha. |

Saw this last night Crimp, chuffing unbeleivable!! The conger actually came out to play and was highly inquisitive. Great viewing. & yes, she does look ilike trout in her rubber gear but you still would... Off to Portishead today so hopefully... |
| A man once told me that there was something wrong with the fish I had just caught, he said "that its head was growing too close to its tail!" B***ard | |

Hi crimp I always thought the biggest killer of conger was cold weather . think it was back in the earlier sixties 63 that the cold snap killed congers in the English channel and a whole lot have been told they were 10 miles long and a mile wide.that's not each individual one lol what a scrap . I think that's why they move out into deeper water in the winter. as for Kate she has probably been got at by the anti angling brigade so she just repeats it parrot fashion |

Great footage, and a great fan of spring/autum watch. I do a lot of scuba diving and have seen lots of conger, none displaying this sort of behavour. Did amybody wonder if kate had some fish hidden on her or the fish had been feed by divers leading up to the dive? fish are very inqusitive towards divers, but never seen that before. As for remarks about 'macho' anglers, again maybe the minority giving the majority a bad name. It always amazing me the numbers of catch and kill comps that are still around  |

Is that the same "Macho" anglers that T-Bar em of at the side of the boat so they don't even get handled thus causing them less stress and a greater chance of survival |

Salt water doesn't taste the same as the fish that swim in it! If you don't need it - put the damn thing back

Most things nowadays coming from mainsteam sources is a load of balloney, Ive been catching more, and bigger conger from the shore in recent years..these are just two more eco nazis spinning off the elitists global warming/eco BS agenda type stuff, that sadly the masses have been bamboozled by, hook line and sinker. Ask yourself do you trust government funded sources, everything these f.....s are pushing for or talk about has an ulternative agenda..talking about the elephant in the room!! If people can't see it by now then they deserve everything thats coming. |
