Hello Mate, I presume you mean the Bristol Channel rather than the English Channel? Blue Anchor is easy access as you can fish out of your car with your rod lent against the railings. I haven't been there for a while but I used to fish to the left side of the sea wall as you look out to sea. Watchet harbour wall also is a short walk over paved surfaces. Burnham on Sea sea front is also OK and is accessed by a few steps. Parking is easy in the evenings and at this time of year. You can cast from the promenade and even sit in one of the shelters on the higher tides. On the smaller tides you need to go down the steps to concrete where you can fish. Turn left when you get to the sea front and fish between the hovercraft shed and the yacht club. I generally fish squid or mackerel baits on a pully pennell tied of 80lb line straight through. I have had a few decent congers there over the last couple of years. Its a bit hit and miss. They often come on the back tide when everyone else has packed up and gone home. In all of the places it is best to pick a spring tide and even then you will only get about three and a half hours of fishing. On present form I think that you are most likley to teach worms to swim rather than actually catch anything in these venues but it gets you into the fresh air. Hopr this helps Prof. |
