hi rob,i fish beer in the summer you can expect to catch mainly pollock & bass to redgill's or bream, pout, doggies, red gurnard, wrasse & conger to bait also ton's of mackerel,we normally end up with 6 or 7 different species at the end of the day.The only trouble with beer is they cancel if the wind is wrong,i normally book 1 trip a month from may till sept and expect to go 3 plus times, the good thing is it's quite cheap hope this helps,if you need any moe help p m me

Hi there Rob - missed this thread (probably why I've got to wear glasses now) - some of the lads that come out on my Bristol channel trips book up on the boats at Beer during the Summer/Autumn months for the Bream fishing to start with and then later on for the Whiting fishing they also seem to get some nice inshore Pollack down there to along with the Mackerel as El gordo said. from what I heard from them some of the beach landings can be a bit on the "Hairy" side which is probably the reason their reluctant to go out if the wind is in the wrong quarter - I'm hoping to get a few trips down there with them myself this year so will let you know how it goes. |

Salt water doesn't taste the same as the fish that swim in it! If you don't need it - put the damn thing back
