I was given this book as an Xmas present and having already finished it, feel that it's worth bringing to the attention of you guys out there. Yates is an excellent writer and is predominantly a coarse angler. However this book covers his interest in sea angling initially as a child and later as an adult returning to it as the bug gets to him. It is the bass in particular that draws him to the sea, but this is not a book about how to catch fish, it simply tells Yates' story in well written prose.

Well worth the £15 cover price (or less if you get it from Amazon :) )

Have a happy new year all.

Have heard good reviews on this book - will have to pick up a copy for when I'm on my night shifts.
Another good read is "Cod - a biography of the fish that changed the world" by Mark Kurlansky published by Vintage books - Murky Depths suggested this book as a good read last year - it's certainly a good insight in to how this fish has affected the lives of people all over the world - got my copy from Waterstones for £7.99 - quite an interesting read.
Salt water doesn't taste the same as the fish that swim in it!
If you don't need it - put the damn thing back

Several years ago I had the privilige to meet Chris on several occasions and I remember chatting to him in his study about fishing in general. He has the ability to transport you from a room to the river simply by talking and you actually feel like you are fishing. He talks exactly as he writes. Wonderful stuff.

A great writer and an even better angler.
