Welcome to Vaioa,

a desert triumvirate of Hold, Weyr, and Mine. Thread's return and bandit raiding brought strife between weyr and hold, but the bandits' recent defeat has returned the region to an uneasy peace. Now, a shipwreck on a forgotten continent and the decision to settle this rediscovered land has opened up a world of opportunity to Vaioa, if only they can handle the dangers.

So I'm trying to get back into posting, and also there are a bunch of you on here that I've never threaded with, and that is a crime. SO. If you'd like to thread with me, here's the cast:

O'zen and Bronze Lenth

Womanizer, drinker, gambler, wingleader. Most of the time, O'zen is an irresponsible jerk, but hey, he's a fun irresponsible jerk. And he has his decent moments, I guess. In spite of his Bitran tendencies, he's very devoted to his work and intensely protective of his wing.

Lenth is more grounded, much nicer, and with a less volatile sense of humor. He's a big friendly giant, but he has a mischievous side to match O'zen. All the same, he usually ends up being the voice of reason.

Open for: Friends, enemies, flings??

Merilla and Green Endyrth

Merilla is an ex-harper, ex-candidatemaster. Having resigned the latter, she's getting more into the former again, and trying to figure out what the heck to do with herself now that she's got all this TIME. Generally very levelheaded and friendly, but has a scary temper when roused.

Endyrth is vain and not all that nice, possessing something of a superiority complex. She loves gossip and snark, thrives on drama. Wants all the attention, but only when she's in the right mood for socializing.

Open for: friends, enemies. Closed: romance. Currently weyrmated with Al'dai.

Lowen (L'en) and Beryllium Lerriloth

Lowen is a tiny, rambunctious ball of energy with a sense of tact but no desire to use it. She's argumentative, combative and nosey, enjoys picking at people to see what makes them tick. She aims to annoy. Loves adventure. Unapologetically loud.

Lerriloth matches Lowen for passion, energy, and fearlessness, but he values right and wrong more than she does, and though he's argumentative, he won't play devil's advocate. He's social and openhearted and talkative.

Open for: friends, enemies (always), and romance??? Maybe? Lowen is demisexual.

Jerund and Brown Jerusk

Stoic and stern, Jerund is not an easy man to connect with; highly judgmental, he's more likely to lecture than to socialize. He has a strong sense of duty, of right and wrong, as well as deep compassion; both compel him to stick his nose into other people's business whether it's welcome or not. First Officer of Steel Squad.

Jerusk does not harbor the same strictures has his handler. He's endlessly friendly, outgoing enough for both of them, and very playful. But he's very protective and apt to turn on anyone, even friends, if they threaten Jerund in any way.

Open for: friends (patience required), enemies. Closed for: romance. In a relationship with Kalser.

Hama and Green Hamask

Bright, cheerful and outgoing, Hama makes friends easily—but she can be intense, and sometimes a little manipulative. She's dedicated to her craft, so spends a great deal of time in the infirmary, but plays hard when she's not on duty. She dislikes being alone, so she's always seeking company.

Hamask lacks Hama's intellect, but she is genuine, kind, and silly. Mostly everything is a game to her. Her downside is that she can be supremely lazy and snippy when she's low on sleep.

Open for: friends, enemies. Closed for: romance. In a relationship with Ara.

Sh'ol and Graphite Hellioth

Sh'ol is generally kind, but cautious with new people—perhaps not noticeably so, but he keeps his distance emotionally. Growing up as a noble left him with a formal manner and a tendency to be distrustful, but he's much nicer once he's more comfortable around someone. He has a lot of energy and an unquenchable thirst for adventure. Older brother of Syrsha.

Hellioth is a hellion. She's sharp-tongued and sarcastic, one who likes to cause trouble, to stir the pot. Her energy matches Sh'ol's; she must always be moving, flying, performing stunts, perhaps pushing the boundaries of her wingleader's patience. She's a little prickly because of her treatment at Fort, but not entirely antisocial. She is, however, incredibly vindictive and spiteful, and she rarely hesitates to act on those feelings.

Open for: everything

Bervaidi and Blue Bervask

Bervaidi is social and generally easygoing, but sometimes unwittingly arrogant and condescending, as she has a tendency to assume she's smarter/stronger/better than anyone else around her. She has a strong work ethic, a lot of drive, and she's frequently out and about with a notebook, documenting any living, breathing creature she can find in the South.

Bervask is a prickly wher, difficult even for Bervaidi to get along with at times. He is very protective of her and generally hostile to strangers, and he does not act much better around those he knows. His manner is aggressive and intrusive, he is selfish, and he practices very little with tact.

Open for: everything

Syrsha - Candidate

Syrsha is gentle, shy, and very naive, but her awareness of how sheltered she has been has led her to believe that she is weak. She considers herself useless, worthless. Now, in a desperate test to see if she is capable of becoming someone better, someone stronger, she has uprooted her life by accepting candidacy. Though she is often very thoughtful and cautious, her desire to change may override her good sense, and so at this stage she is very willing to experiment and take risks, even if they scare her. Now that she's been rejected at a few hatchings, she's feeling even more reckless, and more than a little bitter. Younger sister of Sh'ol.

Open for: friends, enemies. Closed for: romance???? She kinda has a crush on N'dein but nothing has happened yet

Kh'sev and Grey Saiyeth

Kh'sev is generally quite friendly and social, but he's also very much a troublemaker. He likes to prank people, he has a short temper, and he's extremely vindictive. He's gotten himself into all sorts of trouble in the name of revenge. If you want a pest, he's your guy. He's also very curious and loves to learn, so he'll often pester people to teach him things. Also very musical. Plays guitar a lot, though he was never formally trained.

Saiyeth is shy and well-behaved, the sort to follow the law to the letter. She is cautious where Kh'sev is reckless, awkward and withdrawn where he is charismatic and social. However, Saiyeth is snarky and judgmental at her core and tends to be much more relaxed and outspoken around those she is comfortable with.

Open for: everything

Eevai and Garnet Iopeth

Eevai is arrogant, cold, and aloof. She's a woman of extreme beliefs, so she holds herself and other people to impossibly high standards and judges when others fail to meet them. Emotionally, she is very closed off. She's a little unstable right now, because she's furious at her treatment at High Reaches and also angry she ended up at Vaioa.

Iopeth, in sharp contrast, is a huge sweetie who just wants to be friends with everyone. She thinks Vaioa is a very nice place with lots of sunlight and doesn't understand why Eevai is so angry. She's constantly trying to put out the fires her rider starts.

Open for: everything, though romance would be either a fling or a hella slow burn. She'll use you for your body, but it takes her forever to actually open up to someone.

For Space is wide and good friends are too few
L'sal, Syrah, and C'win all need to meet O'zen to get them to loosen up a bit. Nerrigant too, if you're interested, because O'zen is like totally a role model.

L'en and Kaantur...or L'en and Talan? Either work.

Kallen, Bazyon, and Kaantur all need Handler threads STAT

All of my characters are open for interaction with any and all Iracharacters. I think we already have the one thread with Homecoming, but I am open for plans when that thread is done.

Ooh! Me! Pick me! I don't think we've ever threaded and I'd love to thread with you <3

I think I'd love to see how S'ssurnt and Lowen play out!

Kallach and and Sh'ol could also be interesting, but I really have an itch to play S'ssurnt right now. He's just not getting enough screentime!

@Shar

O'zen is a tricky one for that kind of scenario, because he might try to get someone to loosen up... or he might decide that it's funny how uptight they are and actively try to annoy them. Or he might get bored and just nope out. As far as mentors go, O'zen is probably definitely not the best. XD But we can see what happens?

Lowen would be fascinated with Kantuur because she's a wherhandler, and I'm p. sure she's never met a wher before. She'd also probably want to hear all about all the crap that the Forties went through so Talan could work also.

And yeah, I have Jerund and Hama ready for action. Also Bervaidi, though she's not technically a candidate yet.

Do you have a preference? I'd just like to start at one thread for now.

Ray

Yeah! You talked about possibly another thread with Jerund and Oberis? That could be amusing.

Looks like we also both have Forties. We could do something with Sh'ol and K'lez, or maybe Hellioth would be interested in meeting another graphite and gravitate to Okrenth?? Idk, options. If you have any other ideas, lemme know.

Peeky

Lowen and S'ssurnt it is! They sound like kindred souls. Would you like to start or shall I? Do you have anything in mind?

(and we can certainly do Kallech and Sh'ol sometime.)

I'd love to plot Siadryn with Sh'ol sometime-- I feel like they could get into some adventures, and Salbith would of course be down for the ride.

I fully support a second thread with Jerund and Oberis. I think we discussed something having to do with mining, where Jerund discovers that Oberis is actually shockingly good at the craft? (And, of course, the overwhelming excitement he must feel at him being a wher candidate now.)

Otherwise, Sh'ol and K'lez and Sh'ol and Xeres both sound good. K'lez and Sh'ol might have an interesting dynamic, I feel, and Sh'ol and Xeres and Hellioth and Okrenth may be slightly hilarious.

@Peeky

Sounds good to me! Lowen is a lightweight so this might be extra hilarious.

@synapse

Sounds good! I'm sure there are plenty of adventures they can get into, especially with this being a new place at all. Maybe an exploratory desert flight?

@Ray

Ohoho I didn't know Oberis was actually gonna be good at mining. Jerund would be both delighted and confused.

Yeah, I'd be interested in developing Sh'ol's relationships with his classmates and new fellow graphite riders.

Do you have a preference for which you'd like to do first?

Man, this is so late. The latest. But I think I'd like to do the thread with Jerund and Oberis first, since there's wher stuff upcoming and he could use some more things. Also because it sounds hilarious.
