Welcome to Vaioa,

a desert triumvirate of Hold, Weyr, and Mine. Thread's return and bandit raiding brought strife between weyr and hold, but the bandits' recent defeat has returned the region to an uneasy peace. Now, a shipwreck on a forgotten continent and the decision to settle this rediscovered land has opened up a world of opportunity to Vaioa, if only they can handle the dangers.

Puppet’s egg had been showing signs of life for a while now since the first wher of this clutch had broken shell the movements inside never ceasing as the small lumpy egg wiggled with the tireless efforts of the wher inside as it fought for out. Fought for free. Finally claws tore through the shell and the wher burst forward dramatically with a primal cry flopping into the sand in a teeny wrinkled heap on the sands.

She was small. Even for a green she seemed undersized, although perfectly healthy she seemed as she flopped around where she landed trying to make sense of all the new around her. She liked it out here. And she voiced her approval with still more noise.

Size did not effect her voice it seemed much to the amusement of some watching the spectacle. The loud one was a weird mass of color beneath the sticky egg residue that still clung to her. She was mostly a lush green with streaks of orange and cream that ran along her sides to her tail below that the green color changed to pale sky blue and finally ending in violet at her feet.

The little multi-colored wher though didn’t take much notice in the attention she got far more interested in Puppet. The nearest human to her who had ‘something which smelt just oooh so gooood so good it made her insides hurt more than they did to start with. Not seeming to know the best place the wherlet pounced at Puppets boots and started to try and nom them with her toothless gums licking eagerly at them before deciding she didn’t like the taste Puuuuupppeeeet the wher whined at the human pitifully pawing at her with her clawed toes Puppesk hurty! Name: Puppesk

Color: Green

Handler: Puppet

Appearance: First thing one notices about Puppesk is she is a runt of wher slightly under the smallest end of the green’s typical range at 7 feet. The second thing however is that she absolutely bursts with color like an aurora. Mint green fading to blue along the belly and legs and turning to violet at the feet. She also has a highly distinctive stripe of cream and orange that runs from her nose down the length of her body to the tips of her forks.

Personality:

Loud: Odds are you will hear Puppesk before you see her, while small in stature compared to her kin this wher has a voice to rival a Crom gold and it will not just be her handler who will hear her needs and want but the whole darn troop, she’d make an excellent guard beast or an even better distraction, as there is few better able to raise the alarm and if asked to raise a din… well the troop better pack a lot of good earplugs.

Exuberant: Puppesk is the type of wher who loves having things to do give her a task and you’d almost swear she grows a little puffing herself up in pride and throwing all her energy herself head first into anything. This can be a bit much as Puppesk is a very excitable creature with a great desire to please and her over enthusiasm for the work could potentially lead to chaos.

Dependable: With Puppet to direct her energy and keep Puppesk focused this green is every bit as reliable and dependable as her handler is. Whether its accomplishing a given task or if its just a matter of being exactly where they’re needed to be, in a small or large way this little wher is tiny but a mighty one you can be sure you can count on.

A small egg, swirled with grey and teal, streaked with a muddled slate color.

One of the smaller eggs of the clutch began to shake, the dragonet inside wriggling with all his or her might, eager to greet the world. As quickly as it began to stir, the egg split cleanly down the middle-- this hatchling was obviously a step above the rest, preferring to make his or her entrance with style and class.

A pale grey slipped forth from the shell, looking regal and calm even with amniotic fluid dripping from her thin muzzle. She shook herself, wingsails extending to dry as she took another few calculated steps forward. Faceted eyes whirled red as she calmly gazed across the sands, her unaffected expression drawing curious whispers from the crowd.

Unhurried, the elegant dragonet locked eyes with one candidate that was... special. Perfect and precious and hers.

Fishy! She cried, bugling joyfully as the red in her eyes changed to an ecstatic rainbow, and Impression had been made. I'm so glad you waited here for me, I do apologize for hatching so late, my darling!

Name: Lirrath

Color: Grey

Candidate: Fishy

Appearance:
Raum Template Coloring

A pale lavender-based grey covers the majority of her body, with a pale golden hue starting from the edges of her wingsails inward. Her head, paws, tail, and wing-tips are a deep wine color. She is slender but not skinny-- long, lean muscle gives her a look not unlike a racing runner. A fine, thin muzzle leads to large eyes framing her dainty head. She will grow to be 35ft in length, with large wings and willowy limbs.

Personality: She is sweet as bubbly pie, although can come off a bit shy in most situations-- truthfully, she is introverted at most, often preferring a comfortable silence to constant chatter. She can be almost maternal in nature, doting on her rider and providing constant calm, zen-like words of encouragement.

Smart as a whip and, she loves to question the status quo in order to better understand it; her rider will no doubt field many charming questions on the workings of the world around her. She has a strong empathetic streak. Lirrath has a love of people-watching, often finding herself lost in the lives of strangers as she watches them from her weyr ledge.

Lirrath will always do what she can to ease the suffering of those around her, and is a dragon who wears her heart on her proverbial sleeve.

All was chaos and thrumming, but one large egg sat unmoving, waiting, its untouched shell mottled in tones of overlapping green and blue. The hatchling within could hear quite well the commotion happening around it. Knew there was something that had to be done, had to happen, to resolve the growing burn in its middle. Still, it considered, canvassing the faint press of nearby minds before reaching any decision. Let the others scrabble and make noise; it would find what it needed in its own time.

Its hunger could not be assuaged for long, however. Grudgingly, at a particularly painful twist, it uncurled and began to press. Slowly at first, without much force behind its actions, and then as is the shell proved stronger than anticipated, harder. Sharper, frustration leaking in. All at once, the deliberate, elegant buckling alongside one side of the egg gave way and with a strangled cry the hatchling tumbled out.

It laid sprawled a moment, breathless, its nose and hide coated in sand. Then, with an imperious snort, it gained its legs and shook out its itchy wings, looking away from all the minds nearby as if to deny them the right to comment. That had not been the intended effect. At all.

As it examined its hide, trying vainly to scrape away the sand coating its damp body, it revealed a warm tone, metallic, laid overtop a creamy base. The wings flared, briefly, showcasing the same lighter colouring of its underside lining all but the inner edges of its sails. A copper, someone whispered, and as if that had been heard the hatchling swung his head around, blinking his inner lids slowly. A copper, was it? Curious, in a distanced way, he spread out his wings and looked himself over. Copper was a good thing, he felt. A grand thing. Lifting his head high, he turned towards the waiting minds, his regal step swiftly fading into a mincing trot as his hunger made itself known more strongly, patience swept aside.

He’d had time to consider, but still he looked, ignoring the heartfelt choice to compare, until he could stand it no longer. You! You will do. Bold words disguising utter relief and affection; of course there could be no other, but it was imprudent not to look. Pressing himself against Ray, he thrummed a pleased note. My name is Kurooth. I would very much like something to eat and to be cleaned, please.

Kurooth
(koo-roo-th)
Cautious, regal, self-assured.
46 feet
Ray

Appearance:

Kurooth can be best described as dark on top and light on the bottom, with the only exceptions being where his wingarms connect to his sides, the underside of his sails, and a slightly darker smudge on his nose. A warm ruddy brown sort of copper dominates his colours, with a lighter variant for the rest. At hatching he looks to be fairly average in size, but a wide wingspan and bobbly head indicates he’ll likely be thickset and very strong as an adult. He has well-defined features.

Personality:

Cautious, regal, self-assured
Kurooth is a dragon always considering his options. It may take him a while to act, and when he does it might not seem like the most obvious reason. He’s also careful about new situations but not necessarily shy about them; rather, he’s patient and observant enough to try and gather enough details to satisfy his peace of mind. When he can’t, he might get tetchy or withdrawn, less willing to offer an opinion or act. Kurooth is not a dragon prone to rash action.

That said, this copper can certainly ‘be on his nobleness’, to paraphrase a favourite remark of mine from Tamora Pierce. He might not be a bronze but he is certainly well aware of his colour and the respect that comes with it. Coppers can lead, after all- and even if that’s not what he and Ray end up doing, he’s not about to let them show to disadvantage with their peers. He might come off as brisk or insensitive because of it, though, despite his earnest intentions.

As far as self-assured goes, Kurooth is a copper who is entirely confident in his abilities. He’s not likely to overstretch, and will in fact chafe at being held back. Uncertain situations or no, he’s not about to let how ruffled he might be show. He extends this confidence to everything that Ray does as well.

((On a more personal note: we don’t talk often but with you just finishing high school, I thought you might like a companion for going out into the world with, as it were. I hope you like him ^^))

The last egg lay nearly still on the sands, only the faintest of twitches assuring the spectators that it was, indeed, alive. A faint tap-tap-tap emanated from the shell, barely a whisper of soft hide and claws against the hard white encasement. The candidates on the Sands waited...waited...waited... Not a soul dared to even breathe, save for the clutchmother. She was calm as ever, gazing expectantly at the last of her children. Soon, all of them would be free and making their own ways in the world. Tap-tap...tap-tap...tap-tap...

CRACK!

All of that patient, quiet work culminated in a sharp, violent noise as the eggshell split neatly into several large shards, spilling a quiet dragonet onto the sand. All at once, the Weyr breathed again, relieved murmuring filling the stands. Candidates smiled, dragons crooned, and the golden queen dipped her head to brush her nose over the little one's spine. The gentle, maternal touch stirred the dragonet into motion, and she took her first deep breath before pushing herself to her feet.

A grey, light and dusky, and so compact and lovely! She stretched out, a burbling noise rising from her white-touched throat, and then, with hunger in her belly and need in her mind, she approached the eager candidates. Her gaze was cool and emotionless, her eyes spinning slowly, but there was a warmth in her as she touched each mind, seeking out her perfect match. When she found Hers, she nodded to herself, and marched right up to the woman. Tiny, I am Prazimoth, and I am yours alone. Will you feed me, please?

Grey Prazimoth
(Prahhw-zee-moth)
Patient, Gentle, Aloof
31 Feet
Tiny
Grey

Appearance:

Prazimoth was shaped with a loving hand, all streamlined gentle curves. Even her headknobs are prettily made, the angle of her nose and snout soft. She's a smallish gray, not as broad and boxy as her sisters or the browns she could be compared to. She's more compact, small and contained. Her tail seems like it might be a bit shorter than average, but it does nothing to hinder her whatsoever.

She is a lovely dusky dove gray, her belly and underside bathed in a cool pale gray-white that also licks up her throat and lower jaw. The fingers of her front paws look like she has dipped them in dark black ink up to the top knuckle, similar flecks of color dotting over her face and the backs of her wings like freckles.

Personality:

Prazimoth is the gentlest, most patient soul. Time and emotion flow around her like she's a boulder in a shallow river, steadfast and sturdy. She's all deep water and deep feelings - Prazimoth addresses most people and other dragons coolly and without much emotion. She is by no means unfriendly, but is also not particularly passionate, and is content to allow others to go about their business without her input. The core of her is sweet and well intentioned, though if she ever decides to share that is entirely up to Prazimoth.
