Welcome to Vaioa,

a desert triumvirate of Hold, Weyr, and Mine. Thread's return and bandit raiding brought strife between weyr and hold, but the bandits' recent defeat has returned the region to an uneasy peace. Now, a shipwreck on a forgotten continent and the decision to settle this rediscovered land has opened up a world of opportunity to Vaioa, if only they can handle the dangers.

Everyone must take a turn gathering food for the new hold, and you are no exception. Borrowing a boat, you set out to do some fishing and have moderate success for a while. When the sun reaches its zenith, you start to think about heading back, but before you can pull up your nets, something strikes the boat with such force that you go flying free of it. As you tumble into the water you catch a glimpse of something man sized, long and scaly with fins and a snout full of hundreds of curved teeth. Only the net separates you from this monster!

Southern looked spectacular. It certainly cut an arresting image, what with its incredibly green landscape, tropical blue waters that were wonderfully warm, and fish that flickered in the water all with different colors. Heck, she'd have moved down here if a home already existed and/or her father had decided to move down here. Vaioa, it looked like, was probably home for good.

They had been given opportunities to help out, so Zuryl had gladly jumped on board to help out. Not only to help build the new hold there, but also because it might come to help her out later.

Instead of, say, clearing trees or sorting stone bricks, the garnetrider got something she preferred, going out on a boat to fish. She wasn't trained in fishing but she knew the basics, it was hard not to as she was surrounded by water in her earlier years. Kahlyn had also apparently been signed up to fish, so here she was on the same boat with her.

Not that she cared all that much, mind you.

Oh please, you like it when Kahlyn's with you, dearheart.

'Of course I do, I've known her for turns. It just wouldn't affect me if she wasn't on the boat with me'

Oh yes, of course it wouldn't. The garnet let out an amused snort, casting a glance her sister's way. She had found a nice spot on the shore, away from most of the rather annoying firelizards, and with twerp resting on her paw. I'm sure she makes the fishing trip more entertaining, however.

'She talks enough for the both of us, I think.'

Zuryl wasn't sure if she'd said anything to Kahlyn besides her greeting and the occasional answer to a question. She gave a half-smile, she was busy working anyway, people would need food and this was no time to be goofing off. The garnetrider looked skyward, and there was Rukbat high in the sky. Perhaps it was time to revisit the campsite.

"Kahlyn," She spoke at last, "We should return to camp, I think, We've enough fish and it's getting later in the day." Zuryl grabbed the net nearest her and began to pull it up, but before she could get all of the net on the boat, something struck the boat with such a force that the garnetrider went tumbling over the boat's broadside.

The thing that was awaiting her in the water was a giant fish the size of the average man. Not only that, but it was long in figure, muscular with a maw filled with what had to be hundreds of curved, serrated teeth. Of course it had to be her...was Kahlyn still on the boat? The garnetrider was distracted for a moment as the fish-or-whatever-it-was lunged at her, only to be thwarted from the net that served as Zuryl's only barrier. The garnetrider froze for a moment as a wave of fear moved through her. 'Think ,Think, Think..' The fish...thing...kept trying to force its snout through the net, derailed from doing such as Zuryl did her best to keep the net around her as a barrier.

Zuryl? Are you all right? What's going on?

'Oxith! I need your assistance, there is this giant fish trying to eat me and I have no idea if Kahlyn is still on the boat!'

Oxith immediately roused from her resting position on the beach, her eyes shifting from blue to yellow in a matter of mere seconds. She gently nose Essnalith, her voice urgent. Essnalith? Zuryl is being attacked by this fish thing and she doesn't know where Kahlyn is! Hurry, we've got to help them before that Fish thing eats Zuryl.. The garnet quickly sent a quick mental image of the beast to her sister, then about-faced and flew off towards where Zuryls and Kahlyn had taken the boat.

Worried, Oxith reached out to her friend, all the whilesearching for the offending fish that was attacking her rider. Kahlyn? Are you okay? We're coming to help!

(bleh lemme know if you need something fixed)
