Welcome to Vaioa,

a desert triumvirate of Hold, Weyr, and Mine. Thread's return and bandit raiding brought strife between weyr and hold, but the bandits' recent defeat has returned the region to an uneasy peace. Now, a shipwreck on a forgotten continent and the decision to settle this rediscovered land has opened up a world of opportunity to Vaioa, if only they can handle the dangers.

Sh'raz stood back as he finished meticulously straightening and re-straightening a tapestry on the wall of his new weyr. Glancing around once more, he nodded to himself at the proper placement of all his things, the position of the furniture, the wall hangings-- Perfect. Yes, this would do. He had been fussing over his space for the duration of his free time since coming to Vaioa a week ago, and was elated to finally be satisfied with the results of his obsessing.

Come oooon Sh'raz! I want to go do things, not sit around while you decorate! It looked fine already! I want to see if any of our old wingmates are here yet.

Torbath, you know some of them are here already. I'm not finished just yet, why don't you go fly around for a bit? Or, I don't know, go hunt or something. You're bugging me. The bluerider sighed as he brushed him off, already feeling exhausted this morning with his boisterous dragon. Bringing his right hand to his face, he pinched the bridge of his nose with his thumb and forefinger as he awaited Torbath's response.

Torbath had been restless all morning, they had been here in the desert for a whole week and his rider had not done any socializing save for drills and other required interactions. Sighing dramatically so that he knew his rider could hear from the living quarters, the mottled blue stretched his limbs and padded towards his ledge overlooking the Weyrbowl. Personally, Torbath could care less about the physical attributes of their new home, but he much preferred the people here. They were much more open-minded and nicer to the oddly-colored dragons, like Salbith!

Well, I'm going to go look around a bit, you're welcome to stay here and be boring! With that, he leapt from the ledge with wingsails fully extended, catching an updraft and gliding downwards to the 'bowl. As his eyes adjusted to the bright desert daylight, the blue looked right and left, scouring his surroundings for conversational partners. It was then that a particularly familiar patch of beautiful deep green hide. Mine, I see Wrendith! Aren't you familiar with hers?

Wrendith, friend! It is so good to see you, are you and yours well?

Wrendith was enjoying the warm sun as J'an continued to quietly set up what remained of the small portion of his garden he was able to bring from Fort. As the green basked without a care in the world, her Rider found himself incredibly dismayed by browning leaves and drying stalks. It looked like about half the plants he had brought--and such a low number to begin with!--were going to be lost before the week was out, even with all of his finest attention. Surely that was only reason to double his efforts, but... well, he doubted they could be saved. The Vaioan climate was just too hostile, and the brief trips Between had been too much for his darlings.

Wrendith cracked open an eye to regard him from the warmth of her sunny ledge, letting out a soft croon of sympathy as she allowed her tail to drape off the edge.

I am sorry, Mine, she murmured, shifting to rest her chin on her forepaws. I know how much you love your small green friends. Perhaps they will recover yet?

It is possible, he admitted as he took the time to properly position them. But it's hard to say. I may save a few of them.

The green thrummed at this, hearing nothing but the good news as her eyes whirled happy greens and blues.

Very good! Very good, indeed, Mine Own.

Just as she was going to continue to sing his praises, however--perfectly eager to repair the awkwardness that had formed between them ever since they had left the Old Place--a voice interrupted her. She blinked, tilting her head before trilling when she caught sight of a familiar blue form nearby.

Oh! Hello, Torbath! It is good to see you! I am doing quite well--isn't this sunlight splendid?--but I'm afraid Mine is going through a small crisis, she admitted, nodding toward her Rider as he continued to adjust plants in the small space he had been relegated to here in Vaioa. His little green friends are not doing so well. I do believe the heat is getting to them. How is Yours faring, then? Enjoying the move?

Torbath cocked his head and squinted at the plants Wrendith's rider was fussing over. Not understanding their significance, he did know that they were important to the man, and therefore he wanted to try and help if he could. The dragon may not have understood the hobby of plant care, but he did not want the things to perish!

Oh no little green things! Do they need help-- food? I can go get them food!

Torbath, buddy, 'little green things' don't eat food-- they need water! Sh'raz chuckled to himself as he quietly psyched himself up for whatever social interaction would surely come as a result of Torbath's boredom. Who was that green's rider again? The bluerider wracked his brain for the name of the man that he had been in drills with at Fort. J'an! That was it.

That's ridiculous, Mine. Every living thing eats, even thread. Torbath was entirely confused as to why Sh'raz would say such an incredulous thing.

Well, if you're really so intent on socializing, ask Wrendith if her rider would like to catch up over a cup of klah or ... I don't know, something. Sh'raz could not remember interacting with the man much outside of aforementioned drills, and occasionally bumping into him in the dining hall. He did recall no ill feelings towards him either, so that was definitely a point in the greenrider's favor. Even acknowledging his own social ineptitude, Sh'raz thought there'd be no harm in seeing how the other transfer was adjusting.

Okay! Torbath practically squealed in delight, this would be the first time his rider had been out of his weyr for reasons other than mandatory practices and meetings, and of course mealtimes. Wrendith my dear, would your rider like to join mine to chat and catch up?
