Welcome to Vaioa,

a desert triumvirate of Hold, Weyr, and Mine. Thread's return and bandit raiding brought strife between weyr and hold, but the bandits' recent defeat has returned the region to an uneasy peace. Now, a shipwreck on a forgotten continent and the decision to settle this rediscovered land has opened up a world of opportunity to Vaioa, if only they can handle the dangers.

It was more than Vinny had thought. Far more. But she didn't want to or need to admit that to Aislyn. The redhead was already drawing her own conclusions on the matter, and Vinsica had had enough of running into walls for one day. For a lifetime. She was surprised she didn't have actual bruises from it. Was she still angry at the denial? Absolutely. Was she angry about having her cowardice thrown in her face? Yep. But mostly she was tired.

Even while debating what exactly Aislyn was to her--'pain in her tail' came promptly to mind--the greenrider took the liberty of finding a seat before she lost the energy her anger had given her. It was rapidly retreating, just like she'd wanted to in her transfer to Telgar. A polar opposite mood to Aislyn's joy, Vinny's solemn expression remained unchanged, even as she wordlessly undid the buttons holding her leather cuff in place. When it was free, a simple push of her sleeve revealed the mark that had caused her so many problems.

"I can't tell you how many times I've almost flayed it off," she said with a rueful smirk, clenching her fist and watching the play of muscle under tattooed and burned skin. "It would be easier, I think, if I knew why it was there. Only criminals get this, to separate them, mark them like animals. Most of the holdless the Weyr rescued aren't marked this way. They'll blend in eventually, readjust to humanity..."

She was rambling. Vinny forced herself to take a slow, deep breath and stop talking. Shards, she really was out of it. Her normal guards were slow in returning to her after her enraged outburst, and the residual smoldering left her tense. Transferring had been her chance to regain a sense of normalcy, of becoming something other than pariah. One letter had torn that goal to shreds.

"You want to know why I became a Healer?" she asked suddenly, almost a challenge, voice holding a keen edge, one that would either cut Aislyn off at the knees or slice to her own bone. Whichever eventuality, Vinny knew giving Aislyn this opportunity could hurt her in the end. Only Pileeth knew this story, Pileeth and Vinny's master at the Hall.

The green waited. And waited. And waited. She snorted with how long it took Roduth to notice that she was teasing him. And flirting. But he might not have picked up on that yet. She flicked her tail, amused by her much larger friend. Them away from you, you away from them, a bit of both, she teased with a happy croon, curving her neck into a sensuous s. Or...as sensuous as she could while lying on her side. As long as I'm your favorite, she drew out dramatically and laughed, resting her head on her forepaws and sighing. And if I'm not...well. I'm not going anywhere, so I have plenty of time to convince you.

Eyes watched as Vinny silently found a seat, causing a bit of worry to pop up in the back of her mind. She seemed so energetic when she'd first stormed in, had she lost her flames? Hmm, had she been working long hours in the infirmary again? That seemed pretty likely considering it was Vinsica. Right, best not to look worried otherwise the Healer would get the wrong idea or something. Before she could make any comment, Aislyn noticed that she was undoing the buttons of her leather cuff. Wasn't that how she hid her mark? Why would she be undoing it now? The red head hadn't asked to see it and she knew how the other woman felt about anyone looking at it.

Narrowing her eyes as Vinny pushed her sleeve up to make the mark visible, Aislyn attempted to not look as confused as she was beginning to feel. Jerking a bit when Vinsica started to talk about it, she watched for a moment before moving to go sit down as well. Holy shaffit, Vinny was sharing and she didn't want to miss this! Sitting down not too far from the other woman, she let her gaze fall on the problem mark. She'd only seen it for a moment when she'd wrapped it up back in the infirmary.

Of course she lifted her gaze after she was done with a quick examination. She'd never seen a mark like that before but Vinsica's face was more interesting to her. Aislyn tilted her head as she listened and kept her hands to herself. They wanted to reach over and touch Vinny's mark but even Aislyn knew that would be a huge no-no. She'd rather not get slapped in the face or anything. "You have no way of knowing why this was placed on you?" That seemed wrong. At least until she remembered a conversation she'd had with Roduth back around the time they'd gone to Rubikon. Something Pileeth had said about Vinsica to the copper. "Wait, do you even remember anything about that time? Roduth said something once about you not remembering something." Surely something he'd gotten from Pileeth.

When she was asked if she wanted to know why Vinny became a Healer, Aislyn probably should've hesitated. The way the other woman's voice had changed slightly should've been a warning but the red head was more focused on the fact that Vinsica was actually going to tell her something about herself. That hadn't happened at all since they'd known each other and if she didn't take this chance who knew when it would ever show up again. "If you want to tell me, then yes. I'd like to know."

Going to keep me all to yourself then? Roduth joked, not actually realizing that Pileeth was really flirting with him. He just thought she was teasing him without any real meaning because...well, he wasn't used to being flirted with. That was Aislyn's thing after all. Maybe he just assumed that it wouldn't happen to him. Snorting, he leaned his head back down to rest it on her side. Well, since it seems like you'd just chase them all away I guess you will just have to be my favorite. Ignoring the fact that they seemed to be spending more time together anyways thanks to their riders. I wouldn't mind seeing what you had in mind to convince me though.

The tattoo had faded over time, no longer pristine black with firm edges. The brand, though...that still looked fresh. There was a reason herders used them to mark herdbeasts and stock runners. They took decades to fade but would never disappear. Still in the shape of a perfect S, the brand would linger on as a constant reminder of a crime she couldn't remember.

Yet she had remembered a face.

She didn't look up as Aislyn sat, just watched her mark as if it would reveal its secrets. When Aislyn pressed that subject, Vinny shook her head, remembering how close she'd come to losing it at Rubikon. Rubikon, where panic had gotten her dragon injured. Why was she not surprised that Aislyn knew of that? No doubt Pileeth was to blame, but Vinny didn't bother holding anger toward the green. It would be pointless, like being angry at herself. She failed to see the irony of that.

"In Rubikon, during the fighting, I saw a man I knew," she started to explain, going over the hazy memories in her mind. "But he was one of the Holdless. He knew me, even called my name. And I knew his. I can't remember it now, but I just...said it." And then she'd watched him die, the mystery unsolved. "I remembered other things that night, but only in fits and starts, nothing that put pieces together." She shook her head in frustration again and lightly fingered the mark on her skin.

"I don't remember anything before I was 10. Suppressed memories, Healers call it," and even that was a guess of her age based on a Healer's examination. "After that, I was in the Hall in Fort. My first clear memory was of a dragonrider and the Masterhealer arguing. They didn't know I was right outside the office because I'd had nowhere else to go." Shards, why was she going into this? Perhaps she wanted Aislyn to understand or see if the copperrider could fill in the gaps Vinny couldn't. "Fort Weyr wanted nothing to do with the women and children they'd rounded up from whatever Holdless camp they found me in, so they'd brought us to the Hold and Halls to see if we could be fostered somehow. We were only children, after all, yet half of us had this mark. The Masterhealer didn't want us, didn't want me. I was illiterate and had a mark. I would have been a drain on the Hall's resources."

Not once did Vinsica look up. Was she ashamed of her beginnings? Yes. That she couldn't remember them? Yes. And yet she was admitting her shortcomings, revealing the most sensitive secrets she had, because there was no one else who would listen.

"The dragonrider convinced the Masterhealer to let me stay, to foster me in the Hold until I was of apprenticing age. The reason he relented was because no one expected me to succeed. If I did, I was another Healer, and Pern always needs Healers. If I failed, I'd be on the streets and no one would be surprised." That had always angered her. "So I worked. I cleaned hallways and changed glows and learned to read and write. I was grateful for the chance, too young to understand how close I was to losing everything. I didn't want to let the dragonrider or the Masterhealer down," she said with a wry smirk at odds with her clenched fist. "I learned to hide quickly. My teachers might not have known I was Shunned, but my classmates never let me forget. I was never their equal, even when I scored better. So I had to prove to them I was worth the effort. I don't think I ever did."

A rather long-winded explanation to be sure, and Vinsica took a deep breath to settle her stirring emotions. "I became a Healer because it was the only option that didn't end in an early grave. Lucky for me I'm good at it," was soft but held that same knife's edge. Except this time it cut her straight to the bone.

That's right I'd chase them all away, she confirmed with a proud nod and a flick of her wing. There's only so much of you to go around, and I'm greedy. When he laid his head near her side, she rolled a bit so she could stretch her length along his neck and flank, leaning into him and crooning. Mostly things like this, though I have to discover how susceptible you are to compliments.

Ah. No wonder Vinny was so messed up about this whole thing. It would frustrate Aislyn if she couldn't remember such a large chunk of her life. And then to have it come back in little flashes that didn't make sense? Nah, the red head most likely wouldn't be able to handle it anywhere near like Vinsica was. Not that she approved the whole push everyone away part of it all but it wasn't her life to live.

Instead of butting in to make any sort of comments, Aislyn decided to continue sitting there and listening. She doubted Vinny had sat down and talked about this to anyone else and was a bit proud that she'd managed to get this far with the woman. Which is why she was going against her nature and offer only a listening ear for now. Action could be taken later if needed but this seemed like something Vinny needed more. So she leaned forward and focused on the story unfolding from the Healer's mouth about her past. A small part of her mind wondered if it was the Harper in her that had her as interested in the story as she was along with the fact that she cared about the Healer, but that was shoved away pretty quickly.

Brows furrowed a bit when Vinsica got to the part about half of the other children having the same mark as her. That didn't seem right. If so many others had wound up with the same thing then did that really mean that Vinny was the criminal she assumed she was? It could be possible that they were given this mark for another reason. It seemed unlikely to Aislyn that that many children would do something as bad as what the other woman claimed people were marked for. That and it just didn't seem like something Vinsica would do, well without a reason at least. But she held her thoughts back, not wanting to interrupt the roll Vinny was on.

She managed to smoother the small growl that tried to escape her at the fact the way the Masterhealer had thought. Aislyn leaned back and took a deep breath. Shards, this story was the worst. Not in the way that Vinny was bad, just the circumstances she continued to find herself in. It's no wonder she had been so willing to keep other people at bay. The whole transfer thing made more sense now as well. At the end, Aislyn was quiet for a moment before she let out a thoughtful hum. "It sounds like you became a Healer because it was a way to survive. And you took that chance and ran with it." She smiled faintly. "Regardless of what your classmates might've thought, I think you've long since proved you were worth the effort."

She glanced back to where the two dragons resided. "Not only did you achieve the rank of Journeyman, far beyond what the Masterhealer seemed to have expected from you," The last part was said with a bit of venom in her voice. "But you ended up finding your way to Pileeth." She wasn't sure about how Vinsica felt about bonding to the green but she knew the day Roduth found her was the best day of her life. "Seems to me that you fought harder than a lot of people to get to where you are today."

Had Roduth been human, he would've raised his eyebrow at the 'only so much' part. As he'd been told plenty of times there was actually quite a bit of him and Pileeth wasn't actually that big. Would he ever say that to her? Shards no! That would be crazy. Instead he just flicked his tail at her playfully. So you are like Aislyn then. He teased. Wanting to keep certain people all to yourself. Then she was moving and pressing against him and a thought occurred to him.

This was actually familiar. In fact if he didn't know better he'd seen this when his rider...oh. Oooooh. So she'd been serious then?

Feeling a bit embarrassed that it had taken him this long to realize that Pileeth was actually flirting with him and not playing around, Roduth returned the green's croon. Well,I suppose you won't know until you try. He'd never really been flirted with outside a flight so this was certainly interesting. And he wasn't quite sure how to respond at first. So instead he just curled himself around the green, enjoying the companionship. Just remember, I am bonded to Aislyn. He joked, eyes whirling merrily.

It honestly surprised Vinny that Aislyn didn't interrupt. No doubt the copperrider had some comment or interjection or objection to what Vinsica said. An exclamation of surprise for all the greenrider couldn't remember or once again claiming that Vinny couldn't have performed the crimes necessary for such a heinous mark to permanently mar her arm. The fact that Aislyn remained silent was perhaps the only way Vinsica made it through the short life story. She'd almost forgotten Aislyn was even listening. While the copperrider leaned back in shock or horror, Vinny bent over her knees, shoulders slumped as she watched her fingers play over branded skin.

When Aislyn did finally respond, it was with a thoughtfulness that Vinsica honestly hadn't expected. The copperrider was normally so brash and blunt that Vinny expected more of the same. Why was she always forgetting that Aislyn wouldn't be a wingthird if she hadn't shown some potential for conflict resolution? And it wasn't sympathy she was getting from the redhead, not the 'oh poor you,' type of pity Vinny hated. Almost...empathy? It wasn't enough to draw Vinny's eyes up, to straighten her posture--she was so very tired--but she almost grinned at the irony.

"The Masterhealer himself presented me with my journeyman knots, like I was some miracle accomplishment, but he couldn't get me out of the Hall fast enough for my first rotation," she said with more than a small amount of acid. Needless to say, Vinny hadn't liked the man, but he had retired a couple turns ago. Finally, she did lean back, running both hands through her hair and begging the ceiling for answers. "I spent so long being sub-human to them, I believed it." Still did, if she was honest with herself. At the subject of dragons, Vinny couldn't help but look toward the pair, her own magnificent green gleaming next to Roduth's burnished copper hide.

"Pileeth...she found me. I was on the Sands, tending a wounded candidate. Being on the sands made me fair game, I suppose. She was so small but so loud," and she even smirked at the memory. How shocked she'd been, having this tiny green interrupt her work. She'd thought the dragon was trying to impress the candidate she was tending, but no. Pileeth demanded Vinsica's attention, and only hers. "Even as a rider, though, it became so much easier to run than to keep fighting. Even with a dragon to prove my fecking humanity."

Yes, someone was bitter.

Sooner or later, Pileeth was going to notice her rider's emotional state. But, since Vinny was still angry and had arrived angry, she hadn't yet. She was far too distracted by the handsome copper with her, and handsome copper who was finally noticing her flirting. How cute he was, so big and oblivious.

Oh, is Aislyn possessive? Perhaps she and I have more in common than I thought, which was pretty much an agreement that, yes, Pileeth wasn't a fan of sharing. She hummed and leaned her head against his cheek, eyes green with enough delight that they matched her hide.

Is that supposed to scare me? she chuckled at the near warning. Was it a warning? Well, Aislyn no doubt had plenty of practice flirting. It was something Vinny got easily irritated by, for whatever reason. Your rider will have to try pretty hard to get me away from a handsome male like you.

Sub-human, eh? From past conversations with Pileeth, Aislyn was sure that Vinsica still thought of herself as such. That she somehow her life meant less than anyone else's. It would probably end up taking a lot for the woman to realize that she was human, not anything lesser just because of that sharding mark. Still, Ais was glad that at least the other woman was looking up now, not staring at the ground or her arm anymore.

Chuckling at the story about Pileeth finding her, the redhead raised an eyebrow. "Sooo, she's basically still the same then?" She joked. Though a part of her wanted to point out that it was most likely not because she was on the sands. Pileeth would've found her regardless of where she had been. At least that's how it seemed in her head, but it would be useless to say that to Vinny. She probably wouldn't believe her. Aislyn tilted her head at the admission from Vinny that she had been running. Was she aware of what she'd just said? That she was confirming to the copperrider that she had been right about her running away? To point that out or not?

"Maybe it was easier to run because you didn't have anyone to help you fight?" Aislyn pointed out. "Those other places you had no one to watch your back. Or, y'know, talk to." She wouldn't mention the fact that it had been because Vinny had made it so. Not everyone was nearly as persistent as she was so it probably hadn't been hard for her to keep people at arm's length. "At least here you have people who couldn't give a feck about your past."

Snorting, Roduth glanced towards the two riders for a moment before setting his attention back on the green. She can be. With those that she likes most. The fact that Pileeth had something in common like that with Aislyn was almost a scary thought. But...well if he actually thought about it, they had more things in common.

When the green seemed to take his comment about him being bonded to Aislyn as a warning that she'd try to push them apart, the copper had to keep himself from laughing out loud. Ah, well actually it would be more the opposite. She would actually push the two of us together. He pointed out. She is always encouraging me to chase pretty females like you.

"Don't let her hear you call her small. Or loud," Vinsica couldn't help the small, soft smile while talking about her dragon. As challenging as Pileeth was, seeing everything in shades of grey and being ridiculously social, Vinny wouldn't dream of trading her for a more reserved dragon. The green was perfect, the other half of her soul she'd never realized was missing. "I swear she has an ego the size of a gold."

And every day Vinny still doubted the green's choice. Surely there was someone more suited to her, who would put her through less pain? Vinny was aware that the multiple transfers hurt her dragon but had always shoved that concern aside, fear making desperate, desperation making her callous. So she'd transfer whenever rumor spread about the Shunned working in the Infirmary and the distrust that always followed.

Yes, she was aware that she'd admitted to running. Ever since Aislyn had cornered her in her own weyr and essentially accused her of cowardice, the thought had been on her mind, chasing itself in circles as Vinny tried justifying it. As much as she hated being wrong--her classmates had always been quick to jump on her errors--Vinny could still admit such. Sometimes. Mostly to herself. To Aislyn because...well, maybe she was actually starting to trust the redhead.

"I couldn't let them," she said frankly, knowing she was opening herself to a serious 'I told you so' from Aislyn for it. "Within a day, there'd be a new nickname for me. Ice queen, iron maiden..." and those were the most polite ones. "Probably would have given at least one of them a coronary if I hadn't lived up to the names. Not that there weren't friendly Healers, but even they got suspicious when this got out," she pointed to her arm, tone a bit cruel.

She was silent for a moment, thoughts in a tumble. So many complications, implications, assumptions... What would be different had she not transferred the first time? The second? If she'd stuck it out somewhere, fought harder to keep her dragon happy, how would her life be different? Would she be as alone as she was now? Leaning back, she rubbed her face, took a deep breath, and sighed slowly. Grey eyes examined tan stone, unable to meet Aislyn's gaze. "I'm tired. Of fighting, running, hiding...being judged for a brand rather than my skill...being alone," the last was barely audible, a break in her stiff walls. It didn't help that she'd already been awake for 19 candlemarks.

Pern always needed more Healers.

While her rider was in anything but a flirty mood, Pileeth was enjoying herself. She was still celebrating the fact she wasn't going anywhere! Which meant she could spend more time with her favorite copper and maybe get her Vinny some social time too. Faranth knew the woman needed it. Pileeth couldn't be everything for her, as much as she wanted to be. A possessive Aislyn could help...

Not surprised she'd encourage you, she crooned with a flick of her tail. You could have any female you wanted with a hide and manners like yours. Including Pileeth. The green wasn't shy in her affections, and she laughed at his complement.

Except there's only one female like me, big boy she chuckled, eyes dancing in green delight. And, like I said, I don't like to share. Staking claim? Perhaps. At least for the afternoon while her rider was still in his rider's weyr. After that, who knew?

"Nah, I'm sure she's completely distracted by Roduth." She replied, catching the small smile on Vinny's face before turning to glance at the dragons again. Of course Pileeth would be able to get a smile out of her. That was good, at least Vinny seemed to be actually capable of doing so, even with the topic they'd been talking about still fresh in mind. "The size of a gold? Shards, should I be worried for Roduth?" Not that she would really be worried, he could take care of himself.

Besides, those two looked to be quite comfortable. They hadn't even noticed what the two riders had been talking about, too distracted by the other. Good. She'd teased Roduth often enough about him having a crush on the green and now here he was, cuddling up with her. She'd have to tease him about it later on after the greenpair had left.

When Vinsica said that she couldn't let them, Aislyn bit down on her lip to keep the 'I told you so' from escaping her. This was not the time for her to be celebrating the fact that she'd been right. She'd been mostly serious for this conversation, she might as well try and keep it up as long as this goes on. Though she did make a face at the nicknames that she was given. Not creative at all. Honestly, how could a mark cause so much distrust with someone that they actually knew? Aislyn wasn't sure she would ever understand how these people could do things like that.

Eyes watched as Vinny leaned back and rubbed her face again. She was still refusing to meet her eyes, causing Ais to frown a bit as she leaned towards the other woman. She wanted to touch her arm, to draw her eyes towards her but she kept having to holding herself back because she didn't want to make Vinny uncomfortable. And that was something she wasn't used to doing. She never held herself back from saying or doing something she wanted. Aislyn had also noticed it really only happened with she was around Vinsica, which made her suspicious but...well it wasn't enough to stop her from continuing down the path she'd started. But shards if it didn't confused the shaffit out of her.

But Vinsica's last words were enough to finally push Aislyn over that line she'd been tip-toeing since they'd first started talking. A hand reached out to just barely touch Vinny's, not sure about touching anything else. "You can stop running and hiding. Stop being alone. You've got me." She replied, attempting to let Vinny know that she was there. Had been for a while really. But how did she really show that the Healer would be stuck with her? "And Roduth of course." She joked, cracking a small smile. "Whatever ya need; someone to watch your back, someone for you to rant to when someone challenges your skills, or just someone you can go to when you just need to be you. No judgments."

That could work, right? Maybe.

She encourages a lot. I'm sure she'd encourage you as well. Roduth replied in amusement. She does like to tease me when you're around. Usually about the 'crush' he had on her. Which was silly of course. Sure he enjoyed Pileeth's company and all but it was like that. Except now she was flirting with him and, well. Maybe Aislyn was a little bit right. Are you saying you like me just for my looks? Roduth decided to tease the green, nosing at her playfully.

Rumbling, Roduth laid his head down on his forearms and watched her cheerfully. Well, it's a good thing you're the only one currently attempting to get a piece of me then.

If not even her dragon could make her smile--or at least soften her expression--something was seriously wrong with their relationship. Sure, Vinny might get annoyed at Pileeth's attempts to drag her to public events or how much she enjoyed poking holes in Vinny's black and white worldview, but the green was her life, one step closer to human.

It still amazed her that someone could look at her mark and not care. How could it mean so little to them when it meant so much to her? The sharding ink and burn had dominated her life, dictated what opportunities she could and couldn't have and how much she trusted others. Only Pileeth had challenged that and seen beneath skin to the sharp mind underneath. The green had changed Vinsica's world, turned it upside down, and she'd been so focused on paying penance for past sins that she was only just realizing it, realizing that there were people around her like Aislyn who didn't give a feck about who she'd been before Impression. Bonding a dragon had changed everything.

And yet...

Some habits died hard. Her dislike of touch, for one. She was surprised by Aislyn's touch, less so by the contact and more by how light it was. Compared to their last meeting, Aislyn was...different. Holding her tongue, no doubt. Was that difficult for her? Probably. And her tone...not nearly as brash or aggressive as Vinny was used to hearing from the redhead. Did she actually mean what she said? It wasn't until Aislyn finished that Vinny realized she hadn't pulled her hand away, and she looked down to make sure she wasn't imagining it. She wasn't. There was Aislyn's hand, tanned and tough, and Vinny's own, long-fingered and scarred from slipping scalpels or needlethorn.

In any Harper's tale, this would be the moment she broke into tears, right? Perhaps a dramatic single tear shed before making another intimate admission. Except Vinsica was so beyond tears. They served no purpose now, especially since she wasn't entirely sure she fully believed what Aislyn offered. No judgement, an open ear, companionship...they sounded like dreams.

"You really don't care," was almost a question, and she rotated her arm so the mark faced up, no longer hidden against her thigh. "This doesn't bother you? The fact I could have killed someone to earn this, how I dream of holding a bloody knife..." She shook her head and finally, finally looked at Aislyn, something bordering on desperation breaking through her exhaustion. "I want--" she swallowed, hesitating, uncertain if she dared admit something so basic that a child would laugh at her. "I want to believe you," but I don't know if I can, went unsaid but fought this strange desire to see if she could be human, could be more than forgotten turns. Was it too late? Could she risk another wound?

I did include manners in my list of your appeals, Pileeth teased and perked up to hear that Aislyn also teased Roduth. Not that this was surprising information. Aislyn teased Vinny whenever she could get away with it. She nosed him right back before leaning comfortably against his flank and stretching her neck out so her head was near his.

You should know better than to think I'd be attracted on looks alone, she chided playfully. It would be oh so boring if you couldn't hold a conversation. No amount of shiny hide could make up for that.

When Vinsica looked down at the hand that Aislyn had left on the older woman's hand, she realized she had probably done a bad thing. Cursing to herself mentally, she pulled her hand back, not wanting the other woman to grow uncomfortable with her when they'd just made so much improvement. Best to pull back now before Vinny jerked away and unintentionally hurt Aislyn. Not that it would hurt her or anything, that would require that she had feelings beyond her usual ones. And that was just impossible. Vinny was a friend. A friend she cared about almost as much as Iverly but that was it. Yep, sounded right to her.

When Vinny spoke up again, she tilted her head before letting her eyes drift to the mark that she'd removed from hiding. "No. It doesn't bother me. I don't think you're the same person as you were when you got that mark. And you're not even sure what happened that you ended up with that mark." Her gaze moved back to the Healer's face. "I only know the you that's here now. And as far as I can tell you don't seem like you would just kill anyone. Without a good reason at least."

As she finally looked at Aislyn, the red head brightened up a bit. Until she noticed the look that was actually written on her face. She wanted to believe her but she couldn't. Aislyn wasn't going to lie to herself, it sucked that after all this time and what she'd done for Vinny that the woman couldn't trust her like that. But after so long of not believing in people she also couldn't fault her. Maybe it would just take more time, that was something Ais had. Smiling faintly, she gave a brief nod. "That's fine. I'm glad you want to believe me. But I've been patient this long, I think I can hold out for however long it might take."

She'd already gotten so far with Vinsica. How many other people had heard this story about the woman's past? Ais was willing to bet very few people and she had to count herself as lucky that she managed to get this much out of the woman. The rest, well she could wait. Vinny was like a mystery and the redhead had plans on being the one to get to the bottom of it. Besides, this would help Vinny with people. Make her more human and that was a plus. Pileeth would be proud.

And here I thought I had more traits that you would find appealing than just my looks and manners. He continued to tease her, figuring if she did it he should be able to do it back. When she leaned against him and brought her head close to his, Roduth let his eyes close. Eh, it was comfortable and he didn't mind her being pressed against him.

Well we can't have you being bored. I dare say that would be scary. He joked, opening and eye before moving his head to flick her nose playfully with his tongue. I suppose not many males are willing to listen to you catching them up on the latest gossip.
