Welcome to Vaioa,

a desert triumvirate of Hold, Weyr, and Mine. Thread's return and bandit raiding brought strife between weyr and hold, but the bandits' recent defeat has returned the region to an uneasy peace. Now, a shipwreck on a forgotten continent and the decision to settle this rediscovered land has opened up a world of opportunity to Vaioa, if only they can handle the dangers.

Vinsica didn't enjoy this situation. Not one iota. First her privacy had been interrupted, what one sanctuary she had in the Weyr violated without warning or consideration. That alone had knocked her off balance, and full recovery became impossible with her emotions going haywire. She had to stop pacing just to focus on them, to put them back in their boxes so she could think. Why was that so hard?

Because they're real, and you've been ignoring them, Pileeth oh so helpfully supplied. Even though the dragon's voice was gentler now, Vinny still shoved her away. Maybe the green was close to Rising. That would certainly explain Vinny's testiness and the overwhelming onslaught of emotions she could normally keep in check. Or you could be human. She clearly wasn't buffering her thoughts as well if Pileeth was now commenting.

I'm glad someone has faith in her. Besides me, Pileeth sighed, laying her head on her forelimbs like Roduth had and trying to send what comfort she could. It was hard to do when she herself was so angry at Vinny. As much as I love her, I can't be everything for her. And it pained the dragon to admit that. She wanted to be her rider's everything, but she'd learned long ago that it was an impossible goal. If not for Vinsica's obsession with her craft, then for lack of human connection. Pileeth wasn't human, plain and simple. But Aislyn was, and the copperrider had stuck around far longer than most.

The problem was that Vinny wasn't human. She didn't see herself that way. Some cruel prank being played on Pern, on the Weyrs, even on Pileeth. That's what she was. She'd earned her craft knots but didn't deserve them. She'd been in the right place at the right time but didn't deserve her dragon. Her purpose was to heal now, heal to atone for her crime. Whatever it had been. Murder was most likely, or a killing of some severity given her age. She'd lived with that realization for turns, a haunting reminder. It was a good thing she didn't have to wait long for Aislyn's response.

It left her shaking her head, that wry and humorless grin back on her lips. "I don't make friends. Don't you see?" she almost accused, taking a step forward to plead her case, to get Aislyn to understand. Once the redhead realized the monster in the room with her, she would stop this friend nonsense. "I've tried. Faranth, how I've tried. When I was an apprentice, my friends set me to take the blame for mistakes or pranks. Who'd believe someone branded?" She shrugged and paced to one wall. "My first journeyman rotation, I was stabbed by a patient, almost in the same spot," she touched her still tender side. "They treated me in the same way. My transfer back to the Hall was expedited when I'd recovered enough, signed and approved by a friend."

She shook her head, dragging it from the pitying victimization she was starting down. She wasn't entirely successful as she crossed her arms over her chest and dropped her chin. The floor offered her no answers, no comfort. She was accustomed to revulsion, horror, and distrust. Whatever Aislyn was giving her, whatever kept the redhead around...that was new. To be called a friend after her shame was public? "It's easier to not make friends when you're in my position," she added softly. "Never know when they'll find out and turn on me. At least then it's distrust from relative strangers." And if she had the courage to risk her arm, she'd flay the brand from her skin. But she lacked that courage. Just as she lacked it to remain in Vaioa.

Pileeth crooned her thanks and blew warm air over Roduth's cheek when he nuzzled her. And here I thought it was my charm and witty banter that kept you around. Looks like I'll need to find more gossip to keep you entertained, she attempted the jest and even managed a chuckle. Vinny just...doesn't understand friends. To her, everyone is superior. Which is weird because she's very proud of her rank and skill. It was a paradox in her rider that Pileeth had never quite figured out.

As much as we try, we cannot be everything to our riders. Roduth confirmed. He wished he could offer more but it was Vinsica who was the only one that was able to really do anything about that. Which he doubted would happen considering they had been bonded for turns. But we offer what we can and hope they will find the rest.

For a moment Aislyn wondered if it would be such a bad idea to at the very least shake the woman in front of her. She just didn't seem to want to believe that Aislyn was her friend. That someone couldn't accept the mark on her arm and continue to want to be around her. But hadn't the red head proven that it could happen? Eyes watched as the healer started to pace once more, going on about the so called 'friends' she had when she was younger. "First of all, those people weren't your friends. So ya can't call them that. Friends don't treat each other like that." And as far as she was concerned, people like that deserved a good kick in the tailfork for doing things like that.

Annd now she was back to wanting to shake the woman. If it wasn't for the fact that she knew Vinsica didn't like to be touched she would've probably gotten up and done so already. "Umm, hello? I considered you a friend before I saw that mark." Aislyn pointed out, frown growing. "And I have no plans on turning on ya, in fact I'd be more than happy to knock anyone around if they tried to mess with ya." Oops, probably not a smart thing to say but oh well. "I still think of you as a friend, mark or not, I care about you."

Oops, maybe Roduth shouldn't have mentioned the gossip. It wasn't that he didn't like to hear it, he just never paid much attention to the parts of it that Pileeth seemed to enjoy the most. Who flew who and all that. But he didn't mind listening. Oh good, He drawled, responding well to the jest. I can't wait to hear all of the latest going ons in the Weyr. How else will I know whats going on? The copper hummed thoughtfully as Pileeth informed him that apparently everyone was superior to her. She is the opposite of Aislyn then. She believes that no one is truly superior and everyone could be a friend if given the chance. He gave a quick shake of his head. Well, some people are automatically more than friends if they respond the right way. Or the wrong way.

Or hope they find someone like Aislyn, Pileeth added to Roduth's conclusion. Being one's bondmate was different than the connections humans seemed to need. True, Pileeth loved her dragon friends and the fun she had with them. Was that similar to people? Not from what she'd seen with Vinsica. The Healer was so absorbed in her craft and in her own mindless goal that she couldn't see anything else. Only Aislyn had turned that world upside down, and Pileeth could feel the internal conflict grow in her rider.

Her pacing wasn't helping dispel her nervous energy. Her shoulders were tense, and her jaw ached for clenching. Only rigid self control kept her from gesturing with her hands, using them to talk. Faranth she didn't want to be hearing this. It was easier to run, easier to transfer. She was pariah. Even after she was settled and made professional connections, she lived on the fringes. Every time someone discovered her mark, rumor spread like wildfire through the Infirmary, and the isolation was no longer self-imposed. Something in her ached at the rejection, the failure. Just as it ached now while Aislyn denied everything Vinny knew to be true.

"How do friends treat each other then?" she challenged, tone acidic while she paused in her pacing. A step forward was another challenge, and she held her hands out from her sides, begging explanation. "If those people weren't my friends, I don't know what one looks like," was cruel and self-loathing. Aislyn would beat someone for her? Ha! Vinsica didn't know of someone who would even defend her.

Aislyn did, Pileeth supplied, stopping Vinny in her tracks and earning a startled, if disbelieving, glance. When you were near unconscious from pain, when I almost lost you. She shoved that healer away, and Pileeth shared what she had seen. Aislyn hobbling in on her splinted leg, pushing the journeyman away, while another healer stepped in to finish the drainage properly.

"I don't remember that," she said aloud unintentionally, uncertainly.

You were...the other healer gave you fellis. You were out of it for a while. Sedated but not asleep. The dragon didn't know the proper terms, but she was able to watch as her rider's hostility lessened. Aislyn stayed with you a long time. Even yelled at anyone who just came to have a look at you, not help you. She swings a mean crutch.

Vinsica took a deep breath, steadying herself and not quite succeeding. Her anger was still there and she clung to it. Better anger than whatever tightened the back of her throat and made her eyes heat. Oh no, she would not show that kind of weakness. If what Pileeth said was true, she owed the copperrider a debt. She shook her head and chuckled wryly. Pern was playing a joke on her. A cosmic, life-long joke.

"Friends, then, they sit guard, watch them sleep? Beat up assailants?" It was almost an accusation, but her voice was tight for how she fought her emotions for control. What had she done to or for Aislyn that this mark meant nothing to her? "Pileeth tells me you were there while I was sedated. How long? How long were you there?" It was the only question she'd allow herself to ask. Why? was what she longed to know but feared the answer. Aislyn's reaction was new to Vinny. She had long since grown accustomed to revulsion, distrust, even the rare pity. Compassion, righteous anger on her behalf...these were unfamiliar.

With her rider now firmly on a subject that would hopefully give her insight, Pileeth snorted at Roduth and bumped his cheek with her muzzle. Guess Vinny was one of the latter huh? Can't say I'd enjoy being brushed off like she did Aislyn, she chuckled. And no, Pileeth didn't enjoy being brushed off, but that's what a talkative dragon got when she stuck her muzzle into too many places it didn't belong. Vinny doesn't like being equal. She doesn't know how to handle it. All her life, it's been that stupid mark that's set people against her, but she doesn't see the few like Aislyn who don't care. Even if she did murder someone like she thinks she did, she's not that person! Her frustration deflated a moment later and Pileeth laid her head on her forepaws with a heavy sigh. I wish she would see that.

Roduth couldn't stop the snort that escaped him if he'd tried. I am quite sure that there is no one else like Aislyn. And if there are, well, we should all be very worried.

This woman! How could she be so fecking blind?! She didn't know what a friend looked like. Jeez, if Aislyn didn't know much about Vinny she would've been a bit offended at that. "Uhh, hello? What am I, wherry shaffit?" Annnd there went her sarcasm. Oh well, at least she wasn't quite as angry as she was before. Don't get her wrong, she was still quite pissed off at Vinsica but the way the healer was reacting it seemed that she was just as agitated as Aislyn was. Though that was probably the red head's fault considering she did just bust into the woman's weyr like she had.

Before she could say anything more, Vinsica had stopped in her tracks and shot a glance over towards where Pileeth was. Ah, looks like maybe the green was making another attempt at talking some sense into her. Good, Aislyn figured the woman's dragon would have the best chance at doing so. Right? Pfft, and Vinny was talking out loud. Just what were those two talking about and should she be suspicious?

When the healer returned her attention back to Aislyn, she had to fight the look of confusion that crossed her face. Ah, so she knew about that then? Huh, she'd thought the woman had been too out of it to remember that happening. Not that she was ashamed of what she did, more like the complete opposite. "Friends protect their friends." Aislyn confirmed. "I wasn't just going to sit there and let anyone mess with you when I could do something. And I didn't watch you sleep." That would be just a tad bit creepy, right?

When asked how long she'd stayed by Vinsica's side, Aislyn's brows furrowed as she tried to remember. "Feck, I dunno. Until I got kicked out? I mean I left whenever they changed your bandages cause you were...y'know..." She waved a hand at the other woman's torso. "Exposed and all. But I stayed for as long as they would let me. Not really sure how long it was though." A small but amused smirk appeared on her lips. "Long enough to realize that your sense of humor is shaffit, but no worries, we can work on that."

Roduth gave an innocent hum. Vinsica could be one of them, I suppose. Aislyn does seem to have a thing about women who act like that want nothing to do with her in general. Not that it had ever stopped her from jumping into a bed with someone who was more than willing to share it with her. Sometimes he wondered if there would ever be a person who could make her settle down instead of bed jumping as she was. Well, did. She hadn't really done that since her leg injury.

Crooning gently as Pileeth's frustration seemed to have left her after a small rant, he scooted a bit closer so he could reach her without stretching he neck out too far. Aislyn has told me before that some people aren't always able to see what's in front of them. And that a lot of people cling so tightly to the past that they can't seem to realize that the present holds more than they realize. Roduth cast a glance towards the two women. I think if given the chance, Aislyn will be more than happy to make sure Vinsica is able to start seeing things a bit differently. At the very least she'll be able to get it into her head that she's a friend.

Friends protect friends. Vinsica almost laughed at that idea. Only Pileeth had ever protected her, and that was after Vinsica had kept her safe during Werling training. All those little bumps and bruises and sprains could really add up if not handled correctly. Since Vinny was more than aware of the limits of medicine, she had staunchly argued with her own dragon that rest was more important than proving her strength or hubris. Even in Vinny's decade and a half as a Healer, medicine had made leaps and bounds. She'd have died from the injury Aislyn had watched only 10 turns ago.

Subconsciously, Vinny crossed her arms over her chest and rounded her shoulders forward when the copperrider mentioned the exposure. Yes, that would have been necessary given her injury location. Did it make her feel better to know that Aislyn hadn't watched? Maybe a little, if she was honest with herself. But Vinny wasn't in a charitable mood just then, not when her emotions were in turmoil and Aislyn was only stirring the pot.

"I don't intend to stay that long," she muttered, almost under her breath but not quite. Pileeth rumbled unhappily at the sentiment, but Vinny was done giving her dragon a podium. The green wouldn't even care in a couple sevendays. Pileeth would forget all about Vaioa, far faster than Vinny would. The last thing she needed was a lesson in her sense of humor. She didn't need one in her craft, and Pileeth kept her entertained enough. What was with this Weyr and trying to change what had already worked well for her? Her one validation--her dragon--was even questioning her decision here.

Because it's the wrong one.

Shaking her head, Vinny ran a hand through her hair, the other braced on her hip in utter exasperation.

"Why do you even care?" Ultimately, that was the crux of it. Why would anyone care about the life and decisions of a Shunned woman? Yes, she'd earned rank in the Healer Hall, but from the charity granted her as an apprentice. Yes, she'd Impressed Pileeth, and it was still one of the most perplexing things to ever happen to her. "Shard it, Aislyn, it's not like I've done anything for you I haven't or wouldn't for other patients." She was fairly certain she hadn't anyway. After all, her value was in her skills, not her personality.

"Normally my patients are satisfied and leave. I see them again only if they're injured," she started in, exasperated and confused and not knowing if she wanted the answer Aislyn had to give. What if it was human? The prospect of being more than her mark, more than someone trying to pay a debt frightened her. How many opportunities had she missed? How little had she lived? She didn't want those answers. "I don't know what you want from me, why you're on this crusade to get me to stay," definitely had a sharp edge of anger, matched by the confused frustration that darkened her humorless smile.

Pileeth gave a soft snort and shifted closer to the copper when he did. She liked Roduth, and he seemed to understand her frustrations with her rider. I would like Vinny to learn that, she nodded. But I don't know if she will. She'd proud, as little as she thinks of herself, and hates to be wrong. Pileeth remembered one very specific incident involving a trundlebug that could put her in stitches if she let it. It had taken days to get the smell out of their weyr.

Vinny is just...she's so focused on making up for that damn brand that she doesn't look beyond her work, Pileeth moaned and rolled to her side, giving up the fight to Aislyn to convince her rider to stay. I have many friends here. I don't want to leave them. If Vinny understood why they are so nice to have, I don't think we'd be having the same argument.

Aislyn closed her eyes for a moment, having just barely heard the muttered response from Vinsica and not wanting to let her temper lash out. Being angry wasn't working, it seemed to just close the greenrider off more. And the more closed off Vinny was, the less likely it would be that the red head could convince her to stay. Still, the temptation to shake the other woman silly was popping into her mind. But she probably shouldn't do that. Even in her imagination...at least until she was far, far away from Vinsica. Just in case.

Why did she care? Had Vinny not been listening to anything she said? Suppressing the urge to groan, because did she really have to lay it all out and explain it to the other woman? That could be a bit weird, and not something she'd ever had to do before. Usually people seemed to catch on to what she was saying without much of a struggle. Which is basically what it seemed like when attempting to befriend Vinsica. Wait, she'd been treating her the same way she treated everyone else? "Wait, wait. You're telling me that you glare at people the same way you glare at me? Are ya trying to make me jealous?"

Oh wait, she wasn't supposed to be making jokes. "You do realize I haven't only gone to you when I or Roduth were injured? In fact, I think we've actually spent more time together when there weren't any injuries...outside of our latest ones at least. That was just luck that we got roomed together." Not that she wouldn't have attempted to bribe someone if she had heard about Vinsica's injury sooner. Would've been worth whatever marks to have been in the same room, for reasons that had proven themselves. Who else would've protected her when needed?

"Feck woman. I even managed to get Pileeth to help sneak me into the infirmary to leave a gift on your desk without you knowing!" A hand waved in the direction of the colored mug that had been left on the healer's desk. "I just want you to pull your head outta your tailfork and realize that I would prefer it if my friend stayed here in Vaioa. That Pileeth gets to stay somewhere that she's made lots of friends of her own and she enjoys. Cause Roduth is really fond of her and if I didn't know better I'd say he had a small crush on her." Okay, even in her rant she couldn't keep herself from teasing the copper. Who let out a slightly embarrassed huff. He did not have a crush on the green, that was just ridiculous.

"How many times are you going to transfer before you run out of Weyrs to run to?" Aislyn asked, her anger flaring up in response to the sharpness from Vinsica's words. "What'll happen if you end up somewhere that you don't have anyone who considers you a friend? You can only run from your problems for so long before they finally catch up and bite you in the tailfork." She was back up on her feet, taking a step closer to the other woman. "How long do you think your secret will keep at this new Weyr? Here it's already out, the worst part is over. Now you just have to grit your teeth and shoulder though it all. At least you have people here who are on your side."

The red head shook her head, hands moving to rest on her hips. "You are so focused on the people who are looking at that fardling mark that you haven't noticed the ones who couldn't care less. The people who look up to you for the good you've done, or the things you've taught them. You have more people here that would be your friend if you wanted." She blinked before shrugging her shoulders. "Not sure if any of them are as patient as I have been."

Well, it's amazing that Aislyn hasn't pushed more buttons of hers than. Roduth joked, taking a moment to glance inside to check on the two after feeling his rider's anger flare up again. It had been simmering there for a bit but something the Healer said must've gotten her riled up again. I'm honestly a little surprised Vinsica hasn't attempted to kick Aislyn out yet.

The copper hummed thoughtfully, a habit gained from Aislyn, before setting his head playfully on the green's side once she'd rolled over. Aislyn used to be like that. Well, not so much on work as seeing how easily she could cause trouble. Now most of her focus goes into drills and flirting. Oh, and on trying to get Vinsica to act like a human. His voice shifted to a more calming tone. Aislyn won't give up. If she had to she'd have me follow the two of you so we could drag her back here. A thought that has passed through her mind a few times by now. She won't stop trying until she gets what she wants. Affection was obvious in his next sentence. I'm just not sure if it's her determination to keep Vinsica here or just her being stubborn.

Vinsica did not enjoy this situation. Aislyn violated her privacy by barging into her weyr. At all, not just because she came unannounced. Her weyr was her sanctuary, where she could always go to unwind and escape from the stresses of her position and avoid the gazes of people. Yet she was always drawn out by the subconscious and achingly human need to be around others, to be social even if she remained on the fringes.

Her mark made her a pariah. What was happening in Vaioa, the very treatment she'd received since her injury, was exactly why she kept it covered. If she held people away, relegated herself to the fringes...well, it was better than being shoved there. And her bedside manner always did need work. Every master who worked with her wrote that as their chief complaint, her biggest area for improvement. So, yes, she did glare at most of her patients. Well. No...maybe not glare. Not with the anger and defensiveness she turned on Aislyn now.

She almost laughed when Aislyn threw their time together in her face. As if the copperrider wouldn't have bribed someone to change rooms. Vinny wouldn't put it passed her. It was exactly the kind of thing that Ais would do in order to get under the greenrider's skin. Just because it would annoy Vinny to be around someone so chatty, so insistently friendly. But was it all just annoyance? Intentionally pushing buttons? Sure, there was plenty of that, but tonight... Vinny shoved the doubt from her head. She couldn't doubt. Not now, not with such an important decision. Instinctively she retreated when Aislyn took a step closer, not realizing it until her shoulder found the wall. She turned her glare to the stone before hardening her spine against further weakness. She would not take another step back, she would not cede that ground...

"You gave me that..." she said softly, stunned for a moment and looking at the very mug in question. She didn't immediately notice that she'd followed Aislyn's unspoken command to look. Not that it mattered. The mug was sitting on her desk, very carefully wrapped in one of Vinny's flying scarves, but the greenrider knew it intimately. It had become a favorite of hers, and she'd intended to take it with her in the transfer as a memory of one kindness.

"I need you to leave," was also soft, as if she was losing the angry energy that had fueled her argument. In reality, she was. To keep fighting was exhausting. How much energy it took to keep people at a distance, to keep her secret safe, and to perform well in her craft despite the lack of loyalty of those around her... Except Aislyn claimed there were those who would be her friends if she let them. How hard would it be to make others in her next Weyr? How many times would she run from them? She lowered her head and leaned against the wall, needing its support if she wanted to remain standing. She was so tired of fighting.

And she almost admitted such.

((Pileeth will come in my next post. I wanted to get this written before I had to run to my doctor appointment.))

Aislyn was actually getting pretty used to Vinsica's glares. Did she take notice of them? Yes, but she wasn't letting them effect her the way the other woman seemed to want them to. Not that she would've let them drive her off in the first place, otherwise she wouldn't have stuck by the Healer for this long. So the one that was being shot at her now was ignored for the most part. Vinny could throw those glares at her all day long and she would still be here attempting to get her to stay.

When she'd taken a step towards Vinny, she wasn't surprised by the fact that the other woman moved back. It seemed to be in her nature to run away. Aislyn was half tempted to take another step towards her, especially since the older woman noticed that she was losing ground to retreat. What would it be like to finally have her pinned to where there was no retreat? Ah, too late. Oh well, maybe she'd try something next time. Maybe when they weren't in such a....emotionally charged arguement.

Aislyn sighed, running a hand through her hair once more to calm herself. "Yes, I gave you that. I know how you are with your klah and figured if you had a mug of your own you wouldn't have to borrow the large one from the woman in the kitchens." The red head huffed, glancing over at the wrapped mug. "It was a way to show I cared, something you could use everyday. Of course it had to be given to you in a way that wouldn't make you think you needed to pay me back with anything. I wouldn't want you to think I did it so you could be in debt to me or anything." And she'd done so well in keeping the whole thing a secret up until now. But if the information would maybe help her case she was more than happy to spill. "I'm glad you seem to like it enough to take it with you."

Eyes glanced back at Vinsica when she said she needed Aislyn to leave. This had a frown tugging at her lips once more as she watched how the fight seem to drain from the Healer. She was lowering her head and leaning against the wall as if she was exhausted. A small step towards her because she was a little worried. That was a sudden change, Vinny had been doing just fine until now. Had something she said finally stuck inside the other woman's mind? Was she finally getting it?

No. She'd told her to leave. Pushing her away again. "Need me to, or want me to? Because those are two very different things." Aislyn pointed out, tilting her head. Honestly, she didn't want to leave until she'd made Vinsica realize it was a stupid idea to transfer.

Dearly Departed
The gesture meant a lot more than Vinny cared to admit. The kindness of a total stranger had at first frustrated her because she'd intended to return the gift. Frustration had become grudging thanks, and days of using the simple if colorful object had nurtured appreciation. She was accustomed to being noticed, sure. She was a dragonhealer, and a sharding good one. People noticed her all the time. Few paid attention enough to see the woman, though, the tired woman who relied too much on klah to keep awake and alert and who accepted charity from only a specific few.

The fact that Aislyn had thought this through, had remembered one of their first meetings and the kindness of the kitchen worker... Vinsica looked at the wrapped mug again and felt her chest tighten. It had cost Aislyn nothing to give that mug, yet she had remained anonymous. How well she knew Vinny already. A frightening prospect, and one Vinsica didn't want to contemplate, but right now it was thrown in her face. She couldn't even hide the small flinch when Aislyn mentioned the fact the simple object was wrapped for travel.

The footstep drew Vinny's gaze and then her spine up. She'd shown weakness, some of her exhaustion. Forcing herself to straighten, she tried to become the strong, unflappable dragonhealer she was in the Infirmary. Her shoulders didn't let her, wouldn't pull back with pride. Aislyn's question almost earned a laugh. Was the concern real? Vinny could never tell. So adept at reading people for pain, the Healer could not fathom concern directed toward her.

"I need you to leave," she repeated, only a touch stronger than the first time. Shards, when had she become so weak? "Don't make this harder than it has to be." The fact Aislyn was the first person to make this protest ate at Vinny. Did she really want to leave? Did she want the copperrider to leave? The latter she was sure because she didn't want to break down in front of someone. The former was...a little more hazy. She had a friend here, the first to ever stick up for her and who hadn't walked away or turned their back when her secret was revealed. Her career had blossomed here, and her wingmates relied on her and Pileeth as floaters and medics. How many really cared about her brand?

Did she really want to leave?

Hm, well at least now she wasn't as concerned about the other woman now that she'd drawn herself back up. Not quite as she usually was but it was certainly an improvement. Chewing on her lip, she debated on if she should actually leave or continue pushing. Finally a sigh left her and she took a step back. "Well, if that's what you need." She gave in, glancing over to where Pileeth was and offering an apologetic smile. Looks like she wouldn't be getting Vinny to give up this idea now.

Running a hand through her hair, she looked back at Vinsica before pointing a finger at her. "But don't continue with this packing. I'm not giving up this argument until you're convinced it's the best choice to stay. For you and Pileeth." A slightly smug smile pulled at the edges of her lips. "Doesn't matter how hard you try to make this. I'll be back with better reasons for you to stay."

Another step back. "Sorry Pileeth! We'll try again later!" She assured the green before turning and heading back to the door she'd entered from. Now she just needed to get down these stupid steps, because Vinny would live all the fecking way up here. Then she was going to grab herself a drink, or five. Whichever sounded best when she got to the dining hall.
