Welcome to Vaioa,

a desert triumvirate of Hold, Weyr, and Mine. Thread's return and bandit raiding brought strife between weyr and hold, but the bandits' recent defeat has returned the region to an uneasy peace. Now, a shipwreck on a forgotten continent and the decision to settle this rediscovered land has opened up a world of opportunity to Vaioa, if only they can handle the dangers.

Finally, a good opportunity to escape the Hold and her sister for quite awhile. And where did she automatically head to? Why, to the one place she knew would have the thing she was looking for. A certain bottle of spirits that she was planning on sharing with someone very particular. After handing over a good chunk of marks for the whole thing, she immediately started heading up to the Weyr. The last time she'd seen Aerella was at the hatching feast she'd put together. Her first as Headwoman and it'd been pretty sharding fun.

Except the part where they hadn't actually gotten to celebrate her promotion. Congratulate, sure. Even a toast, but the older woman had ended up being called away due to work. Which left Dani with the choice of either hanging out with her sister and her garnet riding friend or searching through the crowds for a new friend. That had been an easy decision. Though the woman she'd ended up with that night hadn't been near as good as Aerella. Such a shame, hopefully she wasn't going to be spoiled by the experienced woman.

Not that she'd complain any time soon.

Grinning as she made her way through the weyr, the brief thought that she was much too comfortable in a place meant for dragon people crossed her mind. Before being promptly shoved away. There was more than just dragon people here, there were women. And Aerella. Which was a good enough reason to show up here when she had the chance. This would be the first time getting to see the Headwoman's office though. Which had a few images flashing through her head. Oh yes, she could work with an office.

Stopping only to ask directions, Verdani finally arrived in front of the door that led to her destination. One hand rose to ruffle her hair a bit before reaching out to give the door a few knocks. Now she was finally going to properly celebrate with Aerella. She even brought a gift and everything. Danya would be proud...if she didn't have certain things in mind for this night.

Aerella had had one hell. Of. A. Day. The kind of day that she nicknamed her 'bent days.' As in...well. A phrase not appropriate for polite conversation.

Today, though, Aerella was through with polite conversation. What she needed after several candlemarks of inventory and haggling with Holder representatives over what was to come in the next series of tithes--and wasn't that just a sharding ray of sunshine?--was a good stiff drink and a night to herself. Normally that wouldn't involve her office, but she'd just heated water on the hearth for a relaxing cup of tea--not the drink she wanted--before she tackled overdue reports from her stewards and assistants to prepare her own report for Talora and the weyrwomen. Their winter stores were running low for Aerella's comfort, but with the holdless raids on the caravans, fewer goods could be transported safely and less frequently. Maybe it was time to get dragons involved with ferrying. At least while it was too cold for Thread to fall.

"No, no," she chided herself audibly, and Mint lifted her head, thinking she had done something wrong. "Not you, lovely," the Headwoman comforted with a rub to the green's shoulders. Mint instantly crooned her pleasure and hopped onto Aerella's shoulder. "Just reminding myself that now is not the time for work. The reports will still be there after I finish my tea." Which was now steeping.

Mint chirped in surprise at a knock on the office door.

"Oh bloody shells," she muttered under her breath. What had gone wrong now? Something else on fire in the kitchens? Spithound on the loose? Firelizard lay eggs in the rosemary again? After pinning her hair back into some semblance of its previous working twist, Aerella straightened her vest and blouse sleeves before crossing the room and braving the door.

Her expression immediately warmed with who was on the other side.

"Well, well, Verdani. To what do I owe the pleasure?" she asked, incredibly grateful for this particular interruption. Holding her tea in one hand, she took a step back, opened the door wider, and gestured inside. "Please, come in. There's fresh tea if you'd like, though something tells me you didn't brave the Weyr's warren for tea."

Quickly hiding the bottle behind her back as Aerella opened the door, her lips were automatically pulled back in a grin once it was fully open. "I dunno, did ya do somethin' really, really bad lately?" Dani responded, happy enough to joke with the older woman. From the expression on her face as she had opened the door it was clear she had a bit of a rough day. Or at least a stressful one. Ahh, the life of someone in charge.

Once she was invited in, the woman gleefully entered the office with a quick glance around. Hmm, pretty organized. Not that she'd expect anything different from Aerella. "Wha makes ya so sure I dinn't come all the way up here just to drink tea and ask ya about your day?" Smirking at the thought, Dani made sure the bottle stayed out of sight before approaching the desk. Sitting on the edge, she placed the spirits right behind her as she crossed her legs at the ankle and glanced at the papers with mild curiosity. Nah, nothing interesting. At least not on the desk.

Yet.

Shifting her gaze back to Aerella, she tilted her head and examined her before grinning playfully. "I figured we never properly celebrated your promotion. I mean, I know I told ya congratulations and all tha', but that's not good enough." Hands moved to settle down on the edge of the wood on either sides as she leaned forwards just a bit. "Then I get here and ya faces looks a bit...stressed." Dani made a tsking noise before one hand reached behind her to grab the bottle to present it to Aerella. "Good thing I brought this! Helps makes those stressful days go poof!"

Wiggling her eyebrows, Dani held the bottle out in front of her. "I s'pose ya could drink tea if ya want, but this stuff is much better. Plus ya get my company! Sooo, wanna celebrate?"

Something really bad indeed. Only if privately cursing stingy Holders counted as bad. If that was the case, Aerella would pay penance every day of her life. Not all Holders were cut of the same cloth, however, as clearly evidenced by the woman striding into her office. As Verdani entered, Aerella closed the door after her and debated locking it. Ah, the Weyr needed a good scandal should Dani have other plans for the evening and someone walked in. Alright, so maybe Aerella had a few plans kindling now that the wher candidate had arrived.

"For one, you don't take tea that I know," she countered as she turned away from the door and sipped her own mug while Dani made herself comfortable against the desk. And set something down right beside her. Well well. She raised a brow at that bottle and was rewarded with an explanation. While Dani explained the presence of the bottle in roundabout terms, Aerella grinned and set down her tea by the hearth before removing the pins and letting her hair down. Literally. The figuratively would be happening soon by the looks of it. The Headwoman didn't even bother to hide her appreciative exam when the younger woman leaned forward.

And then came the request. Tricky tricky, making Aerella dance to that tune. She knew this game well, though. Bracing her hip on the back of a chair, she too crossed her ankles and didn't at all regret the choice of tight pants and boots today.

"It would be incredibly rude of me to decline such a gift," she offered. The booze? The company? Dani was a smart girl; she'd figure it out. Mint, on the other hand, was totally lost and decided that the bookshelf made a better perch for the time being. "And even I need a break from tea," was darker as she straightened and turned toward the hearth again, and the small cupboard there. Withdrawing two glasses, she looked back with a cheeky grin and held out the glasses. "These too civilized for the celebration you had in mind?"

Hmm, Aerella had a point. She couldn't remember the last time she'd actually had tea. That sounded like something more up Danya's tree. She couldn't help that she was made of sturdier stuff. Well actually the older woman had proved she was pretty sturdy, even if she wasn't quite as muscular as Dani. Aerella had all the right curves were it counted though, and soft skin. Couldn't forget that.

Green eyes watched as the other woman set her tea down before reaching up and actually letting her hair down. Oh yes, that was just how she liked it; dark hair loose and flowing about her shoulders. The smirk was back on her lips as Aerella's eyes began their first appreciative exam of her body. This was one of the reasons why she liked the other woman so much. She was never shy about showing her appreciation; with her eyes or in other ways. Which is why she was all too happy to return the favor when Aerella mirrored her crossed ankles. Dani's eyes were immediately drawn down to the tight pants showing off those nice legs she remembered so well.

They should celebrate stuff more often.

Hearing the woman's voice once more, Dani slowly dragged her eyes back up and smirked. "Wouldn't wanna be rude." She agreed, chuckling as she leaned back and crossed her arms. Her gaze shifted from Aerella momentarily to watch Mint head to another perch before settling back on the other woman in time to have her turning back to the hearth. Oooh, still a great view. Dani was lost in a few choice images for a few moments until Aerella brought her back to the present.

Shifting her attention from the woman's behind, she grinned in response to the cheekiness. "Nah, this stuff's too good to not be civilized. Gotta savor it instead of straight up shootin' it." Since Aerella was getting the glasses, she should probably go ahead and open the bottle. "Since it's a special occasion 'n all, I got somethin' I think ya will really like." Cost a pretty mark too but she knew it was worth it; something special for such a big promotion. Well, that and she was hoping to get lucky. On the desk too. It seemed like it'd be sturdy enough to hold them.

If there was one thing certain about the Headwoman, it was that she knew how to dress. It was all about setting a mood. True, she hadn't planned this particular circumstance, but the overskirt she had been wearing had quickly outlived its usefulness the moment Aerella's appointments were done. It was draped over the back of her desk chair, totally forgotten. No longer a young woman, Aerella still maintained her figure, even after three children, and she was fully aware of the green eyes watching her move.

It was always nice to be appreciated.

Growing up, she'd always heard that women reached their sexual primes in their third and fourth decades, and not a word of it had soaked in until she was in that prime and realized that maybe those old nans knew what they were talking about. While she still could, Aerella intended to make good use of her prime. Tonight... Was she too tired? Seeing Dani and knowing the glances raked over her, the thoughtfulness of the visit--even if Dani had ulterior motives--and the roguish nature of the younger woman, perhaps she wasn't. The tea hadn't been the kind to dull her senses, after all. She had intended to work.

Needless to say, this was a very pleasant interruption.

"I do appreciate a good spirit now and again," she agreed while Dani opened the bottle. Whatever was in there didn't matter. Well, it did, but sentimentally speaking, it could have been rot-gut. The fact it was made of finer stuff would make the enjoyment all the sweeter. Taking advantage of a moment, Aerella let herself lean in close while setting the glasses on the desk. "Thank you for bringing it," was a low hum, a tease before she straightened and went behind her desk to a basket. A very familiar basket. "Can I offer you something to eat?"

"I had a feelin' ya might." Dani replied, her voice only slightly teasing. "'M pretty sure that's what pulled ya to me when we first met." She pretended to think. "Or it coulda been my crazy good looks." Lips pulled back into another grin as the older woman headed towards her with the glasses. Grinning seemed to happen a lot when she was with Aerella, but that wasn't surprising. There was a whole lot to grin about in these situations.

Then the other woman was leaning close and Verdani was almost tempted to reach out and wrap an arm around her waist to pull her against her. But then Aerella's voice was thanking her, obviously a tease as she straightened back out and moved to go behind her desk. Shards, this woman. Shaking her head slightly in amusement, she glanced to her side to see the glasses there. Ah, might as well go ahead and pour their first glass.

As she tipped the bottle to the glasses, eyes drifted back up to Aerella when she offered something to eat. Her mind immediately went straight to the 'dark' side; imagining the very thing she came all the way up here for. Besides celebration drinks. Quickly shaking her head clear, she set the bottle down on the desk and twisted a bit in order to see the basket Aerella had been going for. Hmmm.

"Heh, that coulda been one thing I came up here for. Thought I would hafta get at least one drink in ya first though." A pleased smirk appeared before she settled back into a more comfortable position and eased one of the glasses to the side of the desk Aerella was on. "Wouldn't wanna be rude though, so I'll gladly take whatever ya offer."

Oh the options... That grin was infectious, and Aerella had no problems answering it with a promising one of her own. They were behind closed doors, after candlemarks, the Headwoman was thus unavailable. The younger woman's brazen lack of undercurrent--yet somehow maintaining a healthy and arousing dose of subtext--was refreshing. In more ways than one.

"Or I merely could have been using you for my own selfish pleasure," she fired right back and was only half joking. Not that she thought Dani minded. That night she'd been looking for a distraction and had gotten far more than she expected for her troubles. To think she almost hadn't braved the Hold's bar...

The fact she was entertaining this visit spoke of just how enjoyable that night had been, and one reason was for how quickly Dani read between the lines. The way her look changed at Aerella's comment, how she had to shake her head a moment later, Aerella couldn't stifle her low chuckle.

"If it's my baking you're after, you have but to ask, though I'll thank you for the drink regardless," she teased while lifting the glass from her desk and taking a sip. Ah yes. Dani hadn't spared expense on this bottle. And lest Dani accidentally knock something off her desk and cost Aerella candlemarks of organizing, she picked up a stack of hides and tucked them on their appropriate shelf. That was followed by the disappearing act of her quills, ink, and sealing wax, all finding its way quickly into a drawer. Just in case. Being tidy and organized was a necessity in her job, after all. No telling what could happen to something lying carelessly on a desk corner. Which she happened to lean her hip against.

A mock look of shock appeared on Dani's face. "Usin' me? For selfish pleasure, eh?" Her voice was just the right amount of scandalized before it returned to normal with her usual grin. "If that's how it is, 'm okay with ya usin' me whenever ya want." It wasn't like she didn't get some enjoyment out of it as well. Besides Aerella gave as good as she got and Dani had no complaints about it at all, otherwise she wouldn't have been here for this visit.

"Hmm, what if it's somethin' else I'm after? I mean...your bakin' is great but I can think of somethin' else tha's better." Dani teased back, smirking slightly as she raised her own glass to her lips. Oh yes, this was completely worth her marks. She'd have to remember this particular spirit for later so she could grab another bottle for her own use. In the back of her head, a voice sounding suspiciously like Danya was asking if she really needed a whole bottle. Which was a stupid question because, yes, she really did. Obviously.

Her smirk only widened as she watched the older woman start putting up her work and basically clearing off her desk. It was like she could read Dani's mind. "Wha? Afraid I'll make a mess?" Not that it hadn't crossed her mind, she had planned on getting just a bit messy. But it didn't hurt to tease the woman a bit. Now if she could just decide how long before she could wait before she could begin the real celebrating.

Eyes drifted down to Aerella's hips as she remembered how easily it was to lift the woman before. She could do that again, get her up on her desk now that it was cleaned off and help Aerella celebrate properly. But then she ran the risk of spilling their drinks. Hmm. Maybe she'd wait until after they were both finished with their first cups to move the bottle to safely and Aerella to a more 'comfortable' spot.

This evening was turning out to be far more enjoyable than Aerella had anticipated. Good thing she didn't have any morning appointments and the duty roster was already posted, otherwise she might have to take a rain check on Dani's congratulations. Her meeting with Talora wasn't until after the Queen's Wing Drill, so there would be plenty of time to compile the reports she'd just transferred to the shelf. She was glad she did judging by the look in Dani's eye and the warmth in her own stomach.

"I'll make a note of it," she commented wryly, swirling the spirit in her glass before taking a sip. Selfish pleasures indeed. Selfish only in that she took great enjoyment exploring the taut body sitting across from her, and not just with her hands. Her eyes drifted to Dani's lips as the younger woman took a drink but didn't linger, not when there were plenty of promises to be discerned in those green eyes.

She did, however, feign innocence when Dani caught her cleaning. "Hmm? Not afraid at all. Merely putting work where it belongs at this candlemark," and with such company. She swirled her glass again, watching the color and faint reflection of firelight catch in the ripples. From the corner of her eye, she caught Dani's glance and may or may not have adjusted how her leg crossed the other for viewing pleasure.

This was a game she could play for candlemarks without tiring of it. The end result would be well worth it, but part of her was curious as to how long Dani would remain patient. To put that to the test... With a small stretch that popped her back pleasantly, Aerella leaned over the desk until her elbow braced her and she could look up at the other woman from beneath her lashes while sipping her drink. Cradling the glass with practiced grace, she looked up at Dani with a deceptively peaceful expression and an edge of curiosity. "So, if it isn't my baking that I can contribute to my own celebration..." she trailed suggestively, enjoying the chase.
