Welcome to Vaioa,

a desert triumvirate of Hold, Weyr, and Mine. Thread's return and bandit raiding brought strife between weyr and hold, but the bandits' recent defeat has returned the region to an uneasy peace. Now, a shipwreck on a forgotten continent and the decision to settle this rediscovered land has opened up a world of opportunity to Vaioa, if only they can handle the dangers.

Glowlight danced off Alek's well toned body as he hovered over Rosin who laid flush under him. Heavy breathing and the smell of sweat hung in the air as they took a moment to catch their breath. Rosin looked up into those gorgeous yellow-green eyes that always reminded him of a lost puppy. Alek smiled at him and Rosin propped up to press his lips against Aleks...

"RAAAAARK!"

"SCRRREEEEEEK!"

CRASH!

Rosin flailed awake at the sudden racket with a grunt and snort. Tangling himself in his furs and falling right off the bed. He could hear shuffling and feel annoyance laced with panic coming from Rosk. What in the world...?

"Son of a bitra! Rosk what did you-?" He finally got the furs from around his head and saw what was going on. Rosk was trying to nose shards of a clay vase that used to belong to Rosin's Uncle into a corner and Puff was clinging to one of his head knobs for dear life. Poor little thing still couldn't fly cause of its wing being bound. Rosin could care less about the vase, he was far more curious about what caused it to break. And he didn't even have to ask the question out loud. Rosk felt it on his mind and once he had finished with the bits of broken clay he turned to Rosin feeling a bit ashamed while sending him choppy images of what happened.

"Ah...I see. Well that's what you get for letting Puff sleep in your mouth." He tried to fight it but he couldn't resist. Laughter burst forth and didn't want to stop. Rosk growled and his shame over breaking the vase vanished to be replaced with irritation. Puff apparently felt safe and comfortable crawling between Rosk's jaws to sleep. Thankfully Rosk's mouth always hung open when he slept anyway so there wasn't much danger. But Puff still wasn't exactly 'house trained' yet. So when the poor thing woke up and needed to relieve herself...

Not funny! Mouth now taste bad! Rosk now had the unfortunate experience of knowing exactly what darter shaffit tasted like. It was by far the WORST thing he ever had in his mouth. That was including any accidentally eaten rotten meat. When Puff 'relieved' herself it startled Rosk awake and he ended up nearly tossing the poor thing across the room. In his panic and rush to catch her before she hit the floor he had knocked over the vase.

"Then go find some water to wash it out. You know where some is." Rosin managed after calming from his laughing fit. His wher huffed at him but he was right. Rosk had learned where most things were all on his own without having to wait for Rosin's help. What he didn't like was the ulterior motive he sensed in Rosin making him go.

Just want go back to moving sleep pictures. Want keep doing mating things with other male thing. Stupid. Not real. Should do real. Always frustrated. Fix. As he spoke Rosin stared at him horrified. Yes me see. Always see. Annoying. Rosin should chase what want and take proper. Rosin started to sputter and flail again.

"That's not how it works for us! We don't just chase down someone and...mate with them." Even if he really wished it were that easy. "You gotta...you know...get to know them first. Maybe have some wine or dinner. Then maybe you'll get lucky." He could already tell that his wher thought that was stupid. He didn't even need the bronze to say it anymore. Most things human's found normal, polite, or traditional he found useless, bothersome, and too complicated. "Look, we just do it differently ok? Besides I seriously doubt Alek even swings that way. That's what dreams are for."

Rosk of course just snorted in response with a roll of his dimly glowing eyes. He'd just never understand. Humans made things seem way more complex than they really were. Puff cheeped from on top of his head and he crossed his eyes upward thinking. Maybe he just needed to help him a little. Give everything a good ol' nudge. Rosin would thank him later.

Need water. Mouth taste bad. Be back. Rosk said abruptly and went for the door. He had learned how easy it was to just bump the door open with his head ages ago. His strength and size kept it from being an obstacle. Rosin watched him go with a bit of suspicion. He had almost felt some kind of plan forming in the bronze's head but Rosk quickly blocked him out before he could really question it. Oh well! Back to sleep then. Rosin smirked and climbed back onto his bed to curl up in his furs again.

It was so quiet in the Handler's Quarters at that hour. There was still at least an hour or so of light out but thankfully it didn't reach those halls. Rosk was now on a mission. He headed straight for a very familiar door and stood there staring at it for a moment. Puff chirped almost questioningly at him which made him snap out of his thoughts. It was a good idea. He'd get to the bottom of the whole mess. It was for his Rosin's own good after all.

Hush Puff. Quiet now. Got job to do. He said quietly to Puff though no one else could have heard him speak. The darter became immediately silent. With one last grunt of determination, Rosk reached out and started clawing at the door. He had to get the occupants attention and had learned as a tiny thing that just walking into private rooms was a bad idea. Rosk didn't stop till the door finally opened and his target stood before him. He then looked up and in the most serious voice possible, eyes focused dead on the young man's face, asked a very important question.

Why you no mate with my Rosin? You broken or somethin'?

Alek had managed to toss himself into captivity under his sheets. Another nightmare trying to take hold. He could hear the noises outside his room. Muffled screams and fighting. Knowing what was going on without having to look. He was in his bed, legs refusing to move, reaching for a weapon, any weapon, but they were all just tauntingly beyond his fingertips. Why wouldn't his legs cooperate, he had to get up, he had to help. He tried to peel back the covers but even they refused to give. It was then there was a heavy pressure gripping his chest. He struggled against his attacker, feeling the hot wetness that covered his clothes. Alesk's distant voice calling him, beyond a point where there was any hope that his wher could lend him aid. Then the scratching of feet, feet? The bandit above him gave an inhuman snarl.

Alesk had woken to Alek's distress, fighting against his sleepingfurs. The blue had gotten up and placed his great head on Alek's chest to still him. The man's hands had hooked the wher's lips trying to push him off, but the blue didn't budge. With words not seeming to pull his handler out of it, Alesk debated if this was an appropriate time to nip him in order to rouse him. Then came the scrape of claws at the door. Alesk snarled and turned towards it, getting between Alek and the potential intruder. Lip curled back as his large eyes pinned themselves on the wood slab that was between himself and the other wher. He didn't care if he recognized the scent spilling into his nostrils. Of all the places in the hold, this was most his, and for a territorial wher such as Alek it was his right to be allowed to attack anyone who he didn't want in it.

The vibrations of Alesk's snarl had helped drag him from his nightmare, eyes snapping open and sitting up straight after trying to detangle himself from his sheets. He felt grimy from fear sweat. With a groan and a deep breath he managed to get a hold of himself. Dragging himself free and "Stand down Alesk." He said in a tired, crackly voice.
Moving to the door as soon as he was sure Alek wasn't going to ignore him and lunge, opening it and quickly closing it behind him. Blinking as he turned round to find Rosk before him. Blinking blearily he mumbled, trying to see if Rosin was with him or if he was wandering about on his own. With a bandaged darter on his head...was this not another dream? It had to be, but he'd take it over the nightmares any day. "Rosk, what the shar-"

Then came the wher's words. Leaving Alek to blink at him for a moment. The broken bit getting his attention first. Though they took the meaning differently. "I'm not broken." Alek hissed at the bronze. Defensive over the idea with the dream hanging over him. Then the first bit finally caught up to his tired brain. Cheeks flushing slightly "W-what... Faranth Rosk, wheres Rosin, what are you doing in the halls asking people that kind of question..." He glared at the massive beast before him, what was he supposed to do.

Running his hand over his face he shuddered at the wher drool covering it from the lip wrestling he'd done. Quickly using his already sweat and drool soaked shirt he rubbed it off his face and hands with a sigh. "Come on, I'm taking you back to your room. You shouldn't be wandering in the hall bothering people."

The other man's room wasn't too far off, but the sight of the door ajar prickled unease in the back of Alek's skull. Opening the door quietly, leaving enough space for Rosk to go in, the dim light of the hall caught the broken shards on the ground. What was his usual paranoid feeling was amplified at the sight. Reaching for a weapon he didn't have he mumbled a curse under his breath, stepping into the room quietly to glance around for anything else out of place. The nightmare still picking at his nerves even with his eyes open. Rosin's form lay with his back turned in his direction, it was dark enough that the young man couldn't tell if there was the movement of breathing. He looked around the room on high alert, looking for any sign of an intruder, other than himself.

He placed two fingers on Rosin's neck trying to check for a pulse. Finding one he let out a breath he hadn't even realized he was holding in. That made sense. Rosk would be far more alarmed if his handler was indeed hurt, dead, or dying. He took a deep breath before he realized he'd entered the man's room uninvited. "Rosk, get yourself in here." He hissed, trying to get the bronze in and clear the way for him to get out of the room.

Rosk just stared and waited for an answer from Alek, paying very little mind to Alesk. The blue didn't scare him in the least. No matter how much he growled and bared his teeth. The bronze grunted not getting the answer he wanted but quickly changed his plans when Alek said he'd take him back to Rosin. Already a plan started to form in Rosk's mind and he remained silent. Little Poff, tired as she was, dozed back off to sleep on top of his head. As they approached the room Rosk stayed behind Alek as if following him, letting the man take the lead. If Alek had known Rosk well enough that would have been his first clue that something was up.

Rosk never followed anyone.

At the door, as Alek went inside, Rosk followed in...and nudged the door closed. Then sat firmly down in front of it with the full intention of not budging and inch from the spot. So he at least did what Alek asked. He got inside. But he wasn't about to let Alek out. With near perfect timing Rosin started mumbling in his sleep and Rosk, with a quick brush against his handler's mind, knew he was having 'that' dream again.

"Mmm Alek.~ Yes...I'd like more kisses...~" He'd rolled and with Alek so close after checking his pulse his arm went to go around his neck. Rosk just watched in slight amusement at how well his plan was working already. Good. Maybe then Rosin would stop pining about like some whelp.

Rosin caught him off guard. Almost pitching forwards into the other man as he was hooked. He saved himself with planting his hands on either side of Rosin's shoulders, locking them in place. Face flushing for a moment, not sure if it was better or worse that the other man seemed to be dreaming of him. Not exactly sure what to do. Hesitantly he pulled back, not wanting to hurt Rosin, but he met far less resistance than he thought there would be. Stumbling back he tripped over his feet and landing heavily on the floor.

Setting his glare towards Rosk who looked all too proud of himself. "Rosk...MOVE." He hissed getting up, trying to figure out if he could squeeze around the bronze enough to get out. Though there wasn't any room for him to slip through the door even when he got it ajar. He sighed and rubbed his face. This was far from an ideal situation. Cautiously moving closer to Rosin once more he murmured, trying not to alarm the man awake"R-Rosin... H-hey, wake up..."

Rosin as sound asleep and really enjoying the dream too much to be bothered with waking up just yet. Even when Alek tried to pull away but thankfully his grip wasn't all that strong while sleeping. He mumbled in his sleep sounding agitated by the sound of Alek hitting the floor but still didn't wake. Instead his dream was getting racy again and he smiled dreamily like a fool.

Rosk just stared at Alek when he was commanded to move. Silly human. He didn't take orders from HIM. He barely took orders from Rosin. The bronze did not budge as Alek tried to squeeze past him and even let out a lazy yawn for emphasis on how little it bothered him. Rosk rumbled feeling pleased when Alek went back to Rosin's bed. That's where he wanted him. Now if he'd just STAY there...

The bronzehandler could hear a voice distantly saying his name but to him it was the Alek of his dream whispering fondly in his ear. Somewhere in his head he felt a nudging from Rosk but didn't realize that was what it was yet. His eyes fluttered open but his sleepy state he felt as though he were still dreaming. Looking up at Alek he gave a sleepy smile and sat up.

"Hey there handsome.~ Wantin' another round?" And without really thinking he reached out and pulled Alek closer to plaster a sloppy, uncoordinated kiss on his lips. The moment they touched though Rosin's brain snapped awake and pulled back to stare horrified. "Oh sweet merciful egg shells...Alek?! The crackdusted fardles are you doing here?!"

He braced himself for both Rosin's reaction to waking up with Alek in his room, and the explanation he would doubtlessly have to give. To Alek's relief, the other handler's expression did warp to a look of shock, fear, anger, or all three. That relief was the reason he let his guard down. Mouth slightly ajar to apologize and give his scrambled together explanation for why he was there. The words never came, Rosin cut him off when he spoke first, then gave Alek little to no time to process what had been said before their lips met. This wasn't a reaction he'd been expecting, thus there was no plan like to duck if an arm came swinging his way. Instead his instinct was to freeze, standing completely rigid as his mind fought between trying to blank out in shock, or to try and figure out what the shards he should do.

As Rosin suddenly reeled back, Alek took a stumbling step in the opposite direction. Staring at the other man before uncharacteristically averting his gaze. A rather dumbstruck look on his face as he nervously rubbed at the back of his head. There were exceptions to his usually quiet demeanor, such as with those he knew quite well, and if he was half dead on his feet from exhaustion, as Rosin had seen before. The stammered babbling that came out of his mouth now was unlike what either of those other scenarios sounded like.

"I... S-sorry... I uh, no, Rosk! Was saying w-weird stuff...Then I was uh, bringing him b-back...The vase, and the...the door. I just th-thought...And he blocked the door. I uh, and I didn't m-mean to overhear a-anything..." Doubtless to Rosk's specialized eyes, the bluehandler's face was glowing bright hot. Though the relative dark of the room did well enough masking it from Rosin, or so he hoped. "He...He won't move." Alek ended meekly, looking at the untied laces of his boots as if they were quite fascinating and easily seen in the low light.
