Welcome to Vaioa,

a desert triumvirate of Hold, Weyr, and Mine. Thread's return and bandit raiding brought strife between weyr and hold, but the bandits' recent defeat has returned the region to an uneasy peace. Now, a shipwreck on a forgotten continent and the decision to settle this rediscovered land has opened up a world of opportunity to Vaioa, if only they can handle the dangers.

Heliodor tried to think of something on the same level of 'fantastic' as simply drowsing in bed after a truly vigorous romp, but was having little luck. Wine-muzziness and the taste of rich honey on her tongue were similar sensual pleasures, but they didn't reach the same bone-deep feeling of satisfaction. Her muscles ached in a deliciously used sort of way.

Her newest bed partner was a line of sturdy warmth against her back, and as Heliodor moved to untangle her legs from Durran's she mused that she might actually keep this one around. Well, around was a bit unavoidable, what with him being a wherhandler in the troop and all, but whether or not she deigned to offer up any second or third (or twelfth) encounters was still up in the air.

Hesk slumbered in her own Hesk-esque fashion, conked out and deep into dream land off in her corner of the room, splayed across the rug Heliodor had worked so hard to train her to stay away from. Instead the rug had just become Hesk's, and was frayed at the edges from the wher's exuberant chewing. Heliodor admired the way her green could sleep, so completely at peace with the world and unaware of everything around her. No wonder Hesk always had so much energy.

Heliodor shifted, rolling herself over so that she could face the man on the other side of her bed. She propped her head up on one palm, reaching out with the other hand to trace Durran's jawline with an inquisitive fingertip. He was a handsome specimen, almost like he'd been put together with her own personal tastes in mind. Heliodor had never been one to look a gift runner in the mouth, so when a walking mountain of man came ambling up to her with amorous intentions in mind she wasn't going to say no.

After all, why should she? There was nothing tying her down, after all, except for perhaps Hesk. There was that faintly romantic bond she still shared with Pertor, but she'd been seeing less and less of her dear friend lately, and it had left her lonely. Here was a chance to assuage some of that loneliness, she mused, if Durran proved as amusing as she thought he would.

She'd have to set aside a few pages in the Book. Yes, Heliodor thought to her mental image of Hama's smirking face, A few pages indeed. They're earned.

Feeling affectionate, Helidor leaned forward to peck a kiss onto the jawline she'd been admiring, murmuring, "Was lovely meeting you, dear. Such a shame we weren't formally introduced sooner."

Durran partially woke at the feel of something gentle tracing his jaw, brushing his short stubble; it sent a pleasant chill down his spine. His body felt heavy, clearly he had slept deeply. Though it had been longer than he cared to admit since the last time he had relations and he may have been rusty, he was sure the night was a good one. Throughout the years with Dursk, he had had a few lust-filled nights where Dursk had won a green, and they had all been amazing. Something about the lust made it so much more primal. Heliodor was something else entirely though; he could tell the cloudiness of lust didn't hamper her abilities nor curb her passion. She was unforgettable.

Heliodor placed a kiss upon his jaw that roused him with a rumble. "Mmmmmmmyes," he responded, eyes opening lazily. The sight of Heliodor brought him more to life. "I'm more than willing to make up for lost time." Durran quipped, propping himself up as well. His eyes wandered downwards and he couldn't help but run a hand over her curves as he took in her beauty. She was a treasure, he mused as his gaze made it's way back to her dark eyes. If she would be willing to keep him around, he would be willing to stay. Durran was a big, tough guy who loved mining and drinking, but there was a side of him that could get a bit clingy.

"I have a bone to pick with Dursk for not chasing down Hesk before." Durran gave a sly smirk. He was actually phenomenally pleased with and proud of his wher at this moment. Dursk, meanwhile, was curled up and snoozing near to Hesk. It seemed as though he had taken care to keep himself off of her rug. Durran was sure the blue would be insufferable for the foreseeable future and hoped he stayed asleep for now.

Though Durran was on a constant quest for "the one," he had many encounters without serious intent. He was not opposed to such things, but he had no luck recently. Getting to be a part of Heli's world in any way was good for him. Privately he admitted to himself that he would not like to go through another dry spell as long as before. Had it been a turn? Faranth, no, that couldn't be right. How would his hips even work anymore? Too many nights spent in the mines, working diligently and for long hours. He had gotten lost in the routine. This turn of events was a very welcome change.

"I'll have to check my calendar," Heliodor murmured, half in jest. She had a few...evenings sketched out ahead of time with some of her current companions, but she could perhaps let one or two slide. One was frightfully boring, after all, but was so heartbreakingly sweet that she couldn't in good conscience drop him, not so soon after he'd given her such a lovely gift, after all. (One or two middling quality candles, but dyed in a pretty green.) The other was plainly and simply just a mutual stress relief arrangement, and could be told to find his entertainment elsewhere for the time being. Heliodor was not particularly attached to either.

"I'm sure she'll run again, and he can make up for the missed opportunities," she said, tilting forward as his hand ran down her side. Such warm, large hands this Durran had. She could get rather fond of hands like those. "No guarantee he'll win, though."

Heliodor flicked her eyes up at him teasingly, lips curling into a taunting smirk. "What do you think you'd do then, hmm?"

Baiting men to impress her was a favorite past time, and she dearly hoped he'd rise to the bait she was dangling. If he didn't that was just as well, she supposed, but it wouldn't be as entertaining. Though there was plenty he could do to distract her if he failed to be as into all the banter as she was.

Durran's eyes met Heli's as she teased him. Her wry smile told Durran that the jealousy he was immediately feeling might not be the appropriate emotion to display. She's was taunting him, something he was not particularly used to, nor something he was against. If she wanted to play games with him, she could, but Durran was not likely to give her up so easily to another handler. At least she was being very obvious with her salacious teasing. It is doubtful he would have understood a more subtle taunt.

"As long as I get to keep all the wild lust to myself," he returned her smirk and pulled her up against his body. He whispered into Heli's ear, "You were completely amazing." The smell of her hair was like a hypnotic perfume. Was there nothing about this women that wasn't entirely tantalizing?

He pulled his face away and looked into Heliodor's gorgeous face again. "Or are you always so... enthusiastic?" Durran asked in what he hoped sounded equally teasing. His smile broadened to less of a smirk and more of a big, happy, toothy smile. He couldn't help himself. The happiness showed in his eyes as they crinkled with his smile, small crow's feet showing. His confidence was to the point of bursting.

Though he wished nothing more than to stay in bed all day long with the beautiful creature before him, Durran felt and heard a rumbling in his stomach that told him he had expended all his energy. He would need to eat, drink, and bathe. The last one was probably not necessary by his standards but if he could get Heli to bathe with him, that would be incredibly desirable. After all, he had woken from a drunken stupor only to be thrown immediately into a chase. He probably stank of man sweat and day old booze. Unappealing; something would have to be done about that.

((Sorry for delay/post length. I've been very stressed!))

"Some people just have a zest for life," Heliodor breezed, more than happy to allow herself to be pulled up against Durran. There were very few places she'd rather be at the moment, though if he got to sappy pillow talk she might find reasons to find somewhere else for him to be. "I take great pleasure in expressing it."

She swept her hand over the broad expanse of his chest, allowing her interest to show plainly on her face. Heliodor was not one to play games when it came to who she did or did not deign intriguing. The whole 'holding men at a distance' coy game did not suit her or amuse her nearly as much as letting them fall into her lap, where they were generally happy to stay. There'd been a few men who had attempted to play that game with her, and they'd quickly discovered that she had little patience for them after.

Really, life was much easier when everyone was just honest with one another.

Her musings were interrupted by the rumbling of Durran's stomach, and she laughed a little, realizing that she was hungry, too, even if her body wasn't being as vocal about it. "Worked up an appetite, did you?" She teased, shifting to slide her lips against his one last time before she rose, her hair curtaining over her shoulders as she sat up.

Hesk stirred as well, with a grumble and a harsh snort that finally woke her up. The green often scared herself out of sleep with her own snores, though thankfully she'd stopped destroying whatever was closest to her out of fright. She blinked sleepily over at Dursk, humming contentedly, before fixing her gaze on Heliodor, who was arching up into a stretch, her arms pulled over her head.

The green heaved a sigh and rolled over on to her side, pleased to lay about and be lazy. Her woman's head seemed to be in a hazy happy state, in no big rush to do anything in particular. She perked up when she heard Heliodor say, "We could go get something to eat, then," only to drop her head back to the floor with a thud when she realized that Helihers had been talking to the man in the bed.

"I wouldn't be averse to your company," Heliodor said with a grin, rising from the furs in order to find something to pull on that was appropriate for venturing to the dining hall. "But, of course, you're always free to go tend to your own business. You won't bruise my delicate feelings."

She shimmied into a loose flowing tunic and the first pair of trousers she found, slipping her feet into some slippers. Hesk barked her approval of the outfit, earning a breathy laugh.

Durran certainly took pleasuring in her expressing her zest, or whatever it was she was saying. He was a little too dazed to follow her entirely; she was definitely smarter than he was, Durran knew it already. He didn't choose to share with her what he probably would do if another won Hesk. The man who tried to lustily steal her away would be on the receiving end of a large fist to the jaw. Being prone to jealousy was probably not going to work out well with Heliodor, but Durran was determined to control himself.

"Yeah, I'm not even sure when I last ate." He admitted as she sat up, smiling all the while. Durran clambered out of bed after Heli, he couldn't help but half watch her as he picked his clothes up off the stone floor. Durran looked over his shirt; it wasn't stained, but it was crinkled and didn't smell entirely fresh. "I'd be honoured to accompany you, of course. I'm not really sure I'll be entirely presentable, though." Not for her company, in Durran's opinion. Reluctantly, he pulled on his shirt and stuffed his legs into his pants. He stepped into his boots and tied them quickly and lazily.

"I hope you don't mind being seen with a scruffbag." He joked, rubbing his blond stubble. The ties on the front of his shirt were loose, showing his chest. Women weren't the only ones who liked to show off, after all. He stood before Heli, smirking deviously. "I'll definitely need to bathe later." Durran winked and gave a low, throaty laugh.

Dursk's tail waggled happily at the sound of Hesk's humming, his eyes opened lazily to peer at the green. Sleepily, he crooned softly, which was interrupted by a wide, squawking yawn. As Dursk woke he felt his hunger intensify, which amplified the feeling that Durran's stomach was a cavernous and empty. The blue stretched out his sore limbs; the run had been strenuous. Strenuous and entirely worthwhile.

"They'll need to eat soon, too. Dursk seems wiped out... Hesk certainly didn't make it easy!" He laughed heartily; that had truly been the wildest, maddest run he had participated in. Durran wasn't sure if Dursk would simply follow them out or not. He wagered he would probably he following Hesk in any case. Durran held out his elbow for Heli to take so he could lead them to breakfast. "Shall we?"
