Welcome to Vaioa,

a desert triumvirate of Hold, Weyr, and Mine. Thread's return and bandit raiding brought strife between weyr and hold, but the bandits' recent defeat has returned the region to an uneasy peace. Now, a shipwreck on a forgotten continent and the decision to settle this rediscovered land has opened up a world of opportunity to Vaioa, if only they can handle the dangers.

The crisp, dry air gusted the moment Zelorth popped from between, causing him to bank slightly and readjust his flight rhythm. S'dal grinned brightly as the late winter sun glinted through the clear air, the blue sky bearing few clouds and the winds kicking up a bluster. What a wonderfully alien landscape spread below him, all red and gleaming with wide expanses of sand and rock, so different from the snowy mountains of Fort.

There is no snow here, Zelorth commented with a hint of sadness. He enjoyed rolling about in a freshly fallen carpet of snow and would surely miss it.

Of course there isn't, it's a bloody desert! S'dal laughed out loud, throwing his arms up to the wind carelessly.

Hmmm the sun will be nice in summer. And I can still roll in the sand, the copper bugelled cheerfully to the watch dragon and descended to make a neat landing near the Lower Caverns. Oh yes this will be veeeery nice to roll in! White-tipped toes dug into the red sand as the dragon rumbled appreciatively while S'dal unstrapped his bags and set them down on the ground.

You behave now, precious. I'm going inside to introduce myself to the Masterharper.

Don't I always behave? Oh, hello! We're new! Zelorth's head perked up as a weyrling pair passed by on their way to a lesson, and he repeated the greeting to a kitchen worker scurrying off to work on the mid-day meal.

Chuckling, S'dal removed helmet and goggles and stepped into the cool dimness of the hallway, pausing only to ask a drudge for directions. Shortly, he found himself at the door he'd been instructed to find, rather unadorned and informal. He furrowed a brow and glanced up and down the hallway at what looked like simple rooms, then shrugged and knocked with a bright grin on his face.

I wonder what this Numael fellow is like? I do hope he's not a stuffy old Master like Tippor had been, S'dal snorted softly.

The people here are nice, maybe he'll be nice too. The weyrbrats are already giving me scratches.

Always a good sign!
