Welcome to Vaioa,

a desert triumvirate of Hold, Weyr, and Mine. Thread's return and bandit raiding brought strife between weyr and hold, but the bandits' recent defeat has returned the region to an uneasy peace. Now, a shipwreck on a forgotten continent and the decision to settle this rediscovered land has opened up a world of opportunity to Vaioa, if only they can handle the dangers.

Make someone laugh. They might give you cupcakes.
Veiryn stumbled into the kitchens, her gait far from steady. A bottle of wine sat in her fist’s death grip and if the way she was swaying was any indicator, it wasn’t her first one. Squinting, she weaved her way over to the nearest wall and patted it gently. “Hey, you; stop spinning. You’re making me di-di-“ She hiccupped and giggled. “Dizzy.” She turned, moving to a table and crawling on top of it, sitting dead center. “Hey, everybody! Grap…grap….er, um…crab a gup! Le’s celebrate! Woo!” She brought the bottle to her lips and tilted her head back, resting her weight on her free arm. When she was done, she set the wine by her side. Her face twisted weirdly, as if she was going to be sick, but then she belched…loudly. “Es’scuse me.” Another small burp escaped, and she broke into a fit of giggles. “Shhhhhh. That’s rude; say es’scuse me!”

How far away are they?!
A flutter of wings - the sound of the Seeker. A pair of observant eyes - the orbs of the Watcher. Together they were the ones who kept law and order amongst the busy kitchens and dining Halls... and boy oh boy where they going to keep order now! The Blue sat upon the rafters, watching the girl with whirring eyes. Moments after taking in this troublemaker, and that was clearly what she was, he moved off to find his companion - the one who got clearer images, more intelligent ones that Theirs could understand compared to his own. Together they returned to the rafters, the large Brown sitting beside his Blue companion. He took in all the information; watching the girl as she took a swig from the bottle, sat in the middle a table. Oh Theirs would not like that! Another moment or two of watching the giggling girl and the Brown took off to find His.

Rayna was in her office, she wasn't really needed right now but she still had a lot of work to do regardless. With Arley gone she had no Head Cook... which was making her life particularly more difficult than it needed to be. Sighing heavily the woman looked through her notes as she tried to find herself a new cook; she'd written letters to several 'old friends', looking for recommendations, there were names she had written on pieces of paper - the most likely of those she would be glad to have as a Head Cook, the ones that would actually be good enough anyway.

Just as she had been asking for something to break her from these thoughts Watcher appeared to her. The Brown landed gently upon her shoulder and nuzzled at her cheek, immediately giving up the images of the drunken girl that he had collected. A scowl took over the woman's face and she sighed heavily. Where exactly had the girl managed to find THAT exactly? Standing up slowly she motioned with a hand for Watcher to return to his duty, knowing that he and Seeker would not be too far away should she need them later.

Stepping out of her office she strode through the kitchens (which were as busy as they always were) and came up behind the girl. She whipped the bottle of wine off the table with a look of sheer disgust on her face. A drudge came near to her and Rayna immediately handed it to the woman who nodded and took it without question. Once again Rayna was thankful for the fact that her staff were intelligent enough and scared of her enough to not get involved with this dimglow of a girl. Once the wine was out of reach and the Headwoman was assured that her staff were not going to involve themselves she stepped around the table and stood in front of the girl.

Hands clasped behind her back the woman stood before her and raised an eyebrow. "Well. I'm not sure the Candidate Master's would like to see a Candidate of theirs in such a state." She said slowly, her voice showing her annoyance.

Veiryn was humming happily to herself, rocking from side to side, her eyes glassy and far away. Absently, she reached for her bottle, her hand closing around empty air a dozen times before she realized there was nothing for her to grab. She stared balefully at where she had left it for a moment before starting to crawl around on the table, oblivious of her audience. "Bottle! Where'd'ya go? BOOOOOOTTLLLLLLLE!" She was hanging off the edge, feet in the air, peering under the table when she noticed Rayna's legs.

Instead of backing up like a normal person, she pitched herself forward, bouncing painfully off the bench and disappearing below it. She popped up behind the one on the other side, blinking owlishly at the headwoman, having no clue who she was dealing with. "Shh, shh, shh! I'm hiding. That scary lady is gonna tell on me to T'rrash and V'an..." She giggled. That wasn't right. "T'rr...T'rr...them blueriders that makes us do stooooopid chores."

Her head lolled onto the bench sleepily. "Can't see me," she chanted, hiccuping between every chorus.

Oh this girl was going to get throttled. All of Rayna's usual calm was swiftly being whittled away as she watched the girl crawl along the table shouting, yes shouting, for her missing bottle of wine. She heard the fluttering of Seeker's wings and saw the shadow of Watcher as they moved closer to the current scene; the pair would want to remain close so that they could lend their Mistress aid should she need it. There was a moment, brief as it was, when Rayna might have laughed as the young Candidate pitched over the side of the table and vanished from sight. It was obvious that hitting the bench on the other side had hurt but Rayna believed the girl deserved it for such outrageous behaviour.

Rayna watched the table as the girl crawled underneath it and began to talk in drunken rambles. Ah. Yes, hiding from the scary lady. Well that wasn't going too well for the girl was it now? After all, the scary lady was the one she was currently shushing! The Headwoman listened to what the girl was saying before leaning down towards her, hands clasped between her knees as she looked down at the girl. "Oh you can bet your buttons she is. That scary lady intends on DRAGGING you to the Candidate Masters and the Weyrleaders and presenting you to them in your current state. And once the scary lady has made an example of you to THEM she will present you to the other Candidates as an example of what an IDEAL Candidate should NOT look like. After that? Well the scary lady then intends to show you to the Weyr and let THEM deal with you once I announce that because of your antics tonight the scary lady is going to LOCK ALL THE WINE AWAY WHERE NO ONE CAN GET TO IT." Rayna said in her monotone, harsh, unhappy voice, never quite raising it above a whisper.

She took hold of the girl's shirt by the shoulder and dragged her out from under the table, pulling her up and supporting her since she was too drunk to do it herself. "You my girl are in a whole HEAP of dragondung."

Veiryn thrashed as she was dragged out from under the tabel. "Ow, ow, ow!" She flailed vainly, trying to free herself from Rayna's grasp until she froze entirely, her face twisting, her eyes going wide. She swayed slightly, then doubled over, emptying her stomach on the headwoman's boots. A faint moan escaped her, and then she sank to the floor, clutching the woman's leg, sobbing desperately.

"I'm so sorry!" she wailed, burying her face against Rayna's knee. Snot ran freely and she rubbed at her nose, trying to stifle the disgusting flow. She hiccuped a few times, rubbing her face on the woman's leg. "I'm so, so sorry!"

Oh lovely... vomit. Rayna sighed and rolled her eyes to the ceiling. This always happened to her; every Sharding time. Closing her eyes for a moment Rayna took a deep breath and gathered herself together. Ordinarily she would have exploded by now, ordinarily the Headwoman would be throttling the girl verbally. But deep down Rayna was actually a nurturing type of person and even she could see that something must be wrong with the girl to let herself get into such a state. There was a pressure upon her shoulder suddenly and Rayna turned her head slightly to look at the Fire Lizard who had settled there. Shard It All. Did the Green know something that Rayna did not? Sighing once more she stroked the Green's head gently; clearly she had arrived to ensure that Rayna did not berate the girl too much.

Looking down she helped the girl up from the floor, pulling her off her leg. Helping her to her feet she looked at the girl. "Alright, alright. Let's get you to my office and get you cleaned up shall we?" She sighed, leading the girl through the kitchens to her office. Opening the door she pushed the girl into one of the seats she kept in the room. "Sit." She said firmly before getting the girl a glass of water and some bread, putting it on the desk beside the girl before she found an old rag and wiped it off her clothes and boots. Thankfully she had some spare clothes in her office that would do her, she would at least be able to get out of these stinking clothes... "Now. Why have you got into such a state my girl?"
