Welcome to Vaioa,

a desert triumvirate of Hold, Weyr, and Mine. Thread's return and bandit raiding brought strife between weyr and hold, but the bandits' recent defeat has returned the region to an uneasy peace. Now, a shipwreck on a forgotten continent and the decision to settle this rediscovered land has opened up a world of opportunity to Vaioa, if only they can handle the dangers.

Walking through the lower caverns of a populous Weyr, there were many things Picla expected to see. She expected to see apprentices running to and from the craft rooms. She expected to see candidates doing chores or relaxing between lessons. She expected to see cooks fetching supplies. What she didn't expect to see was a rider trying to catch trundlebugs down amongst the storerooms. The sight of the short, dark-haired man stretching to try to usher a specific bug into his container was an odd sight indeed. Now she was used to odd things. Veasnath tried to make odd things happen all the time; having left him to his plots and plans back in their weyr, she half expected to come back to something odd, but that didn't keep her from being curious and intrigued. Taking short, careful steps, she approached the focused young man, head cocked to the side.

"What are you doing?" Her cheerful, benevolent tone of voice made the question gentle where it could have been sharp. She was genuinely curious about what he was doing, intent on rectifying her confusion. In the back of her mind, she could feel Veasnath eavesdropping; he wanted to know as well, endlessly curious in his own arrogant way. Before there was truly time for him to respond, her mind managed to place his face and form a name that sounded correct. "D'suu, right?" She recognized him from her wing. Opposite side from her, up near the front; their formations fell more easily into her mental grasp than his face or name. In fact, they did not so much fall as slip fluidly without any real effort required, readily remembered thanks to time and dedication.

He wanted to do something for his dragon, something to entertain the blue while he was grounded due to his dislocated wing. There were two things the Blue loved more then anything, that was hatchlings he could play with and watching the reactions to some of D'suu's pranks. Today D'suu was on the hunt for a trundlebug, the small insect was the best thing for a quick prank, though to be fair the last time he had added one to a prank he had been kicked out of Fort and sent to Vaioa. How was he to know that one of the goldriders had an extreme fear of the little bugs and would not like.. a few in her room. D'suu did have that habit of not coming up with the best pranks, but that was still rare.

All his concentration went into herding the bug towards his jar, that was until he head a voice ask him what he was doing. In fear of getting into trouble he shot up to his feet and hid the jar behind his back. "Nothing!?!?" The trundlebug took that moment to run away in the other direction. He eyes followed the bug as it found a hold in the wall and left his reach. "Yes, nothing now." He placed the jar on the nearest table and walked around Picla, he would come back later for the bug, he now had someone to entertain.

With a smile he tried to distract the other bluerider from what he was doing, he honestly did not want to get into any trouble. "Picla right? What brings you here?" Answer a question with a question, a tactic that had a fair chance of working for some people.

Picla smiled at D'suu's anxious response to her innocent inquiry, the gesture expressing a mixture of amusement and knowingness. Nothing about his body language suggested that he was up to nothing, so he was either doing something embarrassing or something that could get him in trouble. She wasn't sure into which of those two categories catching a trundlebug was likely to fall. To her, it seemed odd, but there wasn't anything inherently disconcerting or troubling about it. She watched the bug scramble to safety and then settled her gaze on D'suu, looking him over to see if she could discern what he was doing. Now her curiosity was truly piqued.

Veasnath was equally interested. Kilith, hello. I wanted to see how you were doing since our riders are speaking, he said, bespeaking the other blue with his mental voice full of charm and falsified concern.

"Yes, that's right," Picla said, confirming her name. "I was heading to the kitchens. Taking the scenic route. I'm new, as you know. I didn't know catching trundlebugs was such a big deal here." Veasnath wasn't the only one who could feign innocence, though Picla made her aims more obvious, staring at the younger bluerider in a poignant manner. One way or another, she was going to get it out of him.

Kilith was rather bored all alone in his temporary weyr, his wing still needing more time to be healed enough to fly. When a dragon spoke to him, he became excited a poked his head out of the entrance to see if he could spot the other blue around. Ah Veasnath, I am well. My wing is sore but I will fly again soon enough. Is my rider causing trouble? He was only slightly worried, recently his rider had been causing a bit of worry in others. So much so that dragons were even asking him if everything was fine. The best he could do was explain that his rider was sad, but getting better.

D'suu shrugged, he did not feel that he was walking into any trouble so he smiled. "Not a big hobby that I know about, but I was thinking catching one for Kilith." He was using half truth, he wasn't about to say, 'hey I was only going to play a quick prank that Kilith loves.' "He likes the little things, like following them about and messing with them till they spray you with that stink of theirs." He took a few stepped and spun around to release some of the energy he had. "So Picla, was there anything you were looking for? I would be more then happy to give you a tour if you are still confused?" He might at least off to help out, he likes making new friends and this was a good way of doing it.
