Welcome to Vaioa,

a desert triumvirate of Hold, Weyr, and Mine. Thread's return and bandit raiding brought strife between weyr and hold, but the bandits' recent defeat has returned the region to an uneasy peace. Now, a shipwreck on a forgotten continent and the decision to settle this rediscovered land has opened up a world of opportunity to Vaioa, if only they can handle the dangers.

With one of the other healers out ill, Rohan had taken a longer shift. Though of course that somewhat left him stranded back in the weyr. Two reasons being his sharding leg was killing him at this point, and he'd not find many to bring his runner back to the stables without costing greatly. So he'd made his pained journey to the night hearth, but not before he grabbed himself a fair amount of wine, and two cups. Who know who'd show up but he sure wasn't going to limp back for another cup after being caught unprepared.

A groan as he got himself down on a bench. Putting his cane up on the bench beside him before setting upon the drink. Grabbing a vial from his belt and pouring the contents into his cup. Sure he'd get pretty intoxicated with fellis mixed with wine, all he'd need to do was crawl back to the infirmary and spend the night in one of the cots. Taking a good long draft before wiping his mouth on the back of his sleeve. Soon he'd be content enough without his leg pains, that was all he could ask for.

Still fairly new to the Weyr, Fera hadn't had a lot of time to get out and about. Her late night stroll was a chance for her to get more acquainted with the layout of the buildings and rooms; she wouldn't want to get caught out in being unknowledgeable in some way. Her wanderings lead her to the night hearth, where she spotted Rohan sitting alone. She barely knew a soul, and when presented with the opportunity to sit with a good looking man who had an extra cup for wine and no company, she couldn't say no. Fera hoisted up her bosom and strutted over to him, smiling broadly.

"Sitting all alone? Well... that's no fun." A mischievous grin played across her full pink lips. Her eyes flicked briefly to the cane beside him. Of course, she didn't care if he had a bit of a limp, but seeing as she didn't want to offend she decided not to mention it, and even kept the thought in her mind not to look at it again; he could be sensitive, after all. She sat on another bench nearby, facing him. Leaning forward, she rested her head on her hand and her elbow on her knee, causing her cleavage to show more readily. Fera couldn't not be flirtatious. She liked attention of all kinds, and had a bit of devious reputation in the Hold she came from. Not that she would put up with any kind of rumor nonsense. "I'm Fera, a pleasure to meet you on this fine evening."

The pleasant lack of feeling in his leg was a blessing, rubbing at it ever so slightly as he sipped from his cup. The Fellis making his mind swim, the exact reason why he'd waited till now to take anything. He'd been in pain sure, but he wasn't about to mess up someone's treatment just cause he needed to take fellis. His job was his only ward against his addiction to the painkiller.

He looked up as a woman's voice hit his ears, taking a moment to realize she meant to sit with him. Well...that was a pleasant surprise, till his eyes hit her shoulder knots. Shards, well he'd have to be the only drunk one then, he thought as he poured himself another glass. As she sat he had a very hard time not letting his eyes drift to her chest. Clearing his throat as he took another gulp of his liquor. Not one for the taste, he drank it for the feeling it brought, most of all when mixed. Putting his cup down on the table as she introduced herself. Offering out his hand. "Rohan, and the feeling is mutual." He said with a grin, nodding to her shoulder. "Dragon candidate I see? Otherwise I'd offer you a bit of my wine."

Fera reached her hand out at a slight inclination, so her palm was tilted more the floor. She gave it a brief, firm shake with her soft hands, uncalloused from a life of leisure. Fera was not so jaded at her young age to not still feel her pulse raise slightly from the physical contact. This brief moment was all it took to summon up her jealous blue firelizard, Gem, who circled around Fera before landing on the floor and crawling underneath the bench his owner was resting on. He curled up beneath her and peered out at Rohan, sizing him up. "And that's Gem. Don't mind him." Her brow furrowed slightly at the turn of events. Sharding firelizard was always bothering her with his over protectiveness.

Fera's face returned to her sultry smirk as she acknowledged his observation. "Yes, unfortunately. The rules are far too strict." She let out a small derisive laugh. Of course, it was all worthwhile should you Impress. What if she didn't, though? What if she spent the next six turns sober and celibate and got nothing out of it? The thought was terrifying! "I already miss the sweet taste of wine." She eyed his drink, her teeth gently bit her lower lip. Her green eyes quickly flicked up and down Rohan, then made their way back up to his eyes. "So what do you do around here?"

His brows perked up a bit at her hand shake, told him a bit if he was going to assume things. Not that it was overly his style unless it came to healing, and even then he went for confirmation. Taking another sip when they were joined. Twitching at the seeing the flicker of blue. Trying to hide the action behind another sip. Eyes following the little creature giving Fera an awkward smile and a curt nod, but his eyes would drop to the flit every now and then.

Tilting his cup to her "Should've picked wher candidacy." He grinned widely "Much more fun." Catching her gaze over him as he put his cup down again. Well that just was plain unfair. Why did dragonrider candidacy have to be so strict about all the fun things in life? "I'm here for wher candidacy. I spend most of my time in your fine weyr though, Journeyman healer is my better title." He grinned and rubbed his leg a bit more, rather absentmindedly.

As he tilted his cup to her, she peered in. Envious of the lax rules he was under. "Yes, clearly I've made a huge mistake." Fera gave a short, quiet laugh. Honestly, though, she didn't like whers too much. They were brutish, clumsy, and ugly, to be quite frank. Her nose wrinkled slightly at the prospect. Then again, if she still got to fool around while waiting for an egg, maybe whers weren't such a bad idea. Still, though, it'll be all worthwhile once she has a dragon. She was thinking this almost to convince herself, because all the things she loved to do were sitting right in front of her! It was hard to say no, but getting kicked out of the Weyr certainly was not on her to-do list. She'd just have to keep Rohan in mind for the very moment she was free of restrictive bonds again!

"Ah, a healer, is it?" Her smile broadened, "Yes, you certainly seem like the nurturing type." Her tone was mildly sarcastic and she had a wry look on her face. Rohan rubbed his leg, seemingly subconsciously. It was odd that he was a healer when it appeared he couldn't really look after himself very well, she idled. Though she supposed not all wounds could be healed. And shards, he had to have some flaw. Sitting there, looking roughed up, grinning at her, drinking; she almost felt like it was her birthday and she was the only one not allowed to celebrate.

"Hey now, I've got a wonderful bedside manner." He chuckled pouring more wine into his not empty glass but topped it off just the same. Knowing he should cut off soon but then his mind drifted to the medical storage in the infirmary, heck there was one right next door if he couldn't get that far. He could just take something mild to ease any morning pains and be clear headed by the time he needed to work.

"I get to fix your lot up when thread or other things mess you up." He grinned a bit darkly at the thought, he never knew how someone without a bit of a sadistic side could become a healer and stand being around anything heavier than hold injuries. He'd really found he enjoyed working in the weyr, most of all with Threadfall.

He looked down to see his hand on his leg and balled it into a fist. None of that...it'd end up more sore in the morning if he wasn't aware of how much pressure he was putting on it. "Any specific color you've got your eyes set on?" He asked. A common question he posed to candidates.

She matched his chuckling at his own comment with soft, lyrical laughter. Her eyes glinted jealously as he topped up his glass with sweet, succulent wine. Fera tried to push the thought of wine from her mind, trying to convince herself he was just drinking water. Yes, that was all, water. No need to be envious of delicious wine.

"Blech." Fera stuck out her in tongue in disgust when he mentioned fixing people up. "I wouldn't care for that job, I don't think." She hadn't the slightest inkling to become a healer of any sorts. Caring for the sick was not exactly her cup of tea. People should be able to handle themselves. Besides, blood? No thank you, thought Fera, she's much too squeamish for the kind of thing.

Fera caught the motion of Rohan's fist clenching in her peripheral vision, drawing her eye down to his leg. Was he not meant to be rubbing it? She looked up at his face again. It didn't matter what was wrong with his leg. It wasn't of importance at this exact moment. What was of importance was answering his question, because that meant she got to talk about her favourite subject; herself. "Well, I'm not going to be modest like so many of the bright eyed young Candidates." Fera laughed at this, then continued, "I'm really hoping for a Queen." Her blue firelizard, who had been silent since his arrival, made a sad noise. Fera acted although she hadn't heard him, but the corners of her mouth sank a little. "Of course, it's an honour to Impress any dragon." Gem was always chastising her, keeping her ego from getting too enormous, and reminding her that the inside is just as important as the out.

"You should be glad that some of us enjoy the work." He said, grinning widely at what was so far her least 'lady like' noise she'd made. "Though understandably its not for everyone. I personally wouldn't know what to do with myself if I hadn't become a healer." He raised his cup to her with a slight nod "Lets hope you impress but don't end up in one of the infirmary beds!"

Taking a sip of his drink, not able to leave it alone even for a short time, hey...he'd earned it. Raising his brows at her mention of going for a queen. "Your preference a Gold or Garnet?" He asked, wondering how high the girl was setting her sights. Garnet would be more realistic but there was the chance the weyrleader would make it flame. Chuckling as she managed to add a tad bit of modesty. She was right, and many candidates didn't realize it was even if they didn't end up with what they wanted.

Fera grinned at his comment on ending up in an infirmary bed. "Well," she began, a sultry purr in her voice, "If I did, I certainly wouldn't mind your hands all over me." She gave yet another small laugh, "Just try not to enjoy it too much." Her suggestiveness was almost too much for her to bare. She was the once making advances, despite knowing she couldn't act on them. That only made her want to 'act on them' more, though. However, teasing was always her favorite pass time.

She placed a forefinger on her cheek, looking up in mild pondering. "Gold certainly would be phenomenal..." She trailed off slightly as she pictured herself riding a giant Gold beauty, all the male dragons of the Weyr chasing after her. Hundreds of them... Fera brought herself out of her reverie and continued, "But I think Garnets are just gorgeous; totally glamorous!" She was feeling quit a bit smug at this point, so she tried to humble herself a little further. "To be honest I really just want something that can clutch... and if I fail to get that on the Hatching Sands then I'll just go for a firelizard that can clutch instead." Her eyes glimmered; she loved the thought of people having their lives changed forever by the eggs that her very own creature produced. Yes, that was power, for sure.

Fera gave Rohan a quizzical look, "What are your aspirations for Wher Impression? Hoping for anything in particular?" She didn't know much about whers, except that they weren't the prettiest beasts.
