Welcome to Vaioa,

a desert triumvirate of Hold, Weyr, and Mine. Thread's return and bandit raiding brought strife between weyr and hold, but the bandits' recent defeat has returned the region to an uneasy peace. Now, a shipwreck on a forgotten continent and the decision to settle this rediscovered land has opened up a world of opportunity to Vaioa, if only they can handle the dangers.

Candidate Lesson: Personality Assessment

Okay this was a lot more interesting than Arryn had at first suspected the lesson would be. She had imagine them being lectured for a couple of candle marks about how to deal with others, work as a team, and so on. Instead they had taken a personality assessment, which had been kind of interesting. She listened as Al'dai explained what their results meant, resting her chin on the tops of her knuckles. That at least helped her make some sense of her letters, ENFP. When the Bronzerider directed them to talk amongst themselves she leaned back in her chair, giving Nira and Zane a wry smile.

What did you two get? I got ahhh. She glanced down at her tablet. ENFP. She gave each expectant looks, wondering how closely they would match or if that even mattered.

I got ESFP," Nira replied, peering at her tablet again. "I suppose that's right. All the stuff he was talking about, I think it's fair and true." She toyed idly with the braid that had sneaked its way over her shoulder when she leaned forward to do her assessment. "I'm the type to take things as they are, which is good in some ways, but I suppose if someone's saying something and meaning something else, I'd be a bit slow to take up on it. The last bit he said, about the deadlines, that's true all over. I'd always be the last in with my inventory tablets on Uncle's ship. We're alike, though, as we're both the E, the F, and the P. You'd be better at seeing into the meat of things than I would, though."

She turned to look curiously at Zane, blinking and trying to peer at her tablet. "What'd you get? Mayhap, if they paired two riders up for some sort of mission, they'd maybe aim to balance personalities a bit and fortify the walls. Then again, if we're all somewhat the same, it'd help us get along a bit better. The rider's right, there's no right or wrong to it all, but it is fun!"

Arryn nodded in agreement as Nira spoke. Their assessments did seem quite accurate. Surprising really that a few questions could tell so much about a person's personality."I guess we are pretty similar then. I wonder if that means we'd work well together or not." The girl pursed her lips in thought before looking toward Zane.

"Yeah this is a bit more fun than I first thought." She grinned, So Zane what did you get? Evil Mastermind I bet." Arryn said with nod, eye sparkling with amusement.

WTF AM I DOING
((I know this is before his arrival, but fff I wanted to do thiiis so bad.))

Balusc was late to this lesson but not too late to not have heard Merilla's introduction as he stepped in. As was typical of him he bore no apologies for not being on time and simply slipped into the situation. He settled back against the wall in the common room, preferring to stand and with arms crossed in front of his chest, observant, quiet.

He had trouble understanding Al'dai's explanation of the test, at one point just tuning it out and getting only the most basic of information, wearing an annoyed look on his face. He frowned at the idea of a personality test at all. It was...prying. There were some things Balusc simply kept to himself, and he privately hoped it wasn't too detailed.

Still if it must be done, it must be done. With a roll of his eyes, Balusc picked up a wax tablet for himself and his back found the sidewall again. He looked to the board frequently to answer his questions, narrowing his eyes at questions he didn't entirely like or fully understand. This entire lesson felt far too complex for him. It poked inside his head and he didn't like it. It left him uncomfortable, and he hid this under a new heavy, stern expression. If other future fellow dragonriders couldn't deal with him as he was, in his personal opinion, they could shove it.

It took Balusc a very long time to complete the test, longer still to figure out his percentages. Math was his worst subject.

ESFP

Extraverted - 67
Sensing - 38
Feeling - 75
Perceiving - 33

- distinctively expressed extravert
- moderately expressed sensing personality
- distinctively expressed feeling personality
- moderately expressed perceiving personality

Performers have the special ability, even among the Artisans, to delight those around them with their warmth, their good humor, and with their often extraordinary skills in music, comedy, and drama. Whether on the job, with friends, or with their families, Performers are exciting and full of fun, and their great social interest lies in stimulating those around them to take a break from work and worry, to lighten up and enjoy life.

Performers are plentiful, something over ten percent of the population, and this is fortunate, because they bring pleasure to so many of us. Performers are the people for whom it can truly be said "all the world's a stage." Born entertainers, they love the excitement of playing to an audience, and will quickly become the center of attention wherever they are. Performers aren't comfortable being alone, and seek the company of others whenever possible -- which they usually find, for they make wonderful playmates. Performers are smooth, talkative, and witty; they always seem to know the latest jokes and stories, and are quick with wisecracks and wordplay-nothing is so serious or sacred that it can't be made fun of. Performers also like to live in the fast lane, and seem up on the latest fashions of dress, food, drink, and music. Lively and uninhibited, Performers are the life of the party, always trying to create in those around them a mood of eat, drink, and be merry.

The Performers' talent for enjoying life is healthy for the most part, though it also makes them more subject to temptations than the other types. Pleasure seems to be an end in itself for them, and variety is the spice of life. And so Performers are open to trying almost anything that promises them a good time, not always giving enough thought to the consequences.

Like the other Artisans, Performers are incurably optimistic - "Always look on the bright side," is their motto -- and they will avoid worries and troubles by ignoring them as long as possible. They are also the most generous of all the types, and second only to the Composer Artisans in kindness. Performers haven't a mean or stingy bone in their body-what's theirs is yours-and they seem to have little idea of saving or conserving. They give what they have to one and all without expectation of reward, just as they love freely, and without expecting anything in return. In so many ways, Performers view life as an eternal cornucopia from which flows an endless supply of pleasures.

He glared at his answers and seemed to become increasingly frustrated with them as time went on. There were some things Al'dai pointed out in continued explanation addressing the class as a whole that he supposed made sense. Balusc was a social being, and there was nothing wrong with following instinct instead of logic. The end results still felt wrong somehow, felt emasculating. His shoulders sagged in disappointment, his jaw clenched. It brought to mind people who weren't him.

He had answered as honestly as possible, he expected his results to scream 'leadership qualities' that highlighted 'personal strength and willpower'. He wanted something to boast about later.

...this was not boasting material. This made him seem weak.

He threw his wax tablet to the front of the room in a blind fit of temper, not caring if he hit anyone on the way. The idea of the test was for him to find groups of like minds and possibly make a few friends this day by sharing results. Balusc just took the whole thing as a harsh slight against his character. It was a 'label', and he hated it.

"Here's your sharding answers!" he snarled, and stormed out. He needed a drink back in his room.
