Welcome to Vaioa,

a desert triumvirate of Hold, Weyr, and Mine. Thread's return and bandit raiding brought strife between weyr and hold, but the bandits' recent defeat has returned the region to an uneasy peace. Now, a shipwreck on a forgotten continent and the decision to settle this rediscovered land has opened up a world of opportunity to Vaioa, if only they can handle the dangers.

"You are the second person I've spoken with who had to be talked into coming by their parents. He answered, shaking his head in amusement. "Makes me wonder what sort of tales they are spreading about Weyrlife."

He watched the Brown flitt return with Gale's supplies, smiling at Gale's exuberant praise of the lizard. He remained quiet, not wanting to disturb her concentration as she began the repair. He was fortunate to have found someone skilled and willing to help him out. He hadn't expected with the way things were going to meet someone new.

Tallyn glanced up as Gale, spoke. "A bit. Doesn't get nearly at hot there, at least not for very long. Seems like there are two types of weather here, hot and hotter. Well I actually never cared much for the snow or rain so the desert suits me a bit better. Though a fresh snow is beautiful, but a pain to shovel out. He chuckled to himself. "How about you. Southern Boll is pretty close to the sea right? Do you miss being close to the water?

Gale made quick, clean stitches, closing up the tear in almost no time at all. When she was halfway done, she sent Sisco back to her room for her chalk. In response to Tallyn's question she looked up and smiled longingly.

"I do!," she said, drawing out the words a bit with feeling. "We used to visit the beach on holidays. It was so lovely. I've never experienced anything as tranquil as floating on waves. It's truly amazing. I think everyone should experience it sometime. And I love the smell of sea air. It's wonderful. I'd say I probably miss that most."

By the time she had finished speaking Sisco had returned. She took the chalk from him in a display of affection just as enthusiastic as the last one had been, and then moved onto the floor and spread out the repaired tunic in front of her. Sisco stood on her shoulders, balancing carefully with his wings while he watched her work. Gale held down the bottom edge with her knees and the top of the shirt with one hand while she slowly sketched out a design around the repaired tear. It was abstract and somewhat swirling; she'd made it angular to make it more masculine. She looked up at him.

"What do you think of this design?"

Tallyn nodded as she spoke. He still missed High Reaches sometimes. Vaioa though was slowly beginning to feel more like home. Unless he impressed he probably wouldn't have much reason to stay. "Well once you impress and your dragon is old enough it won't be much trouble to visit. Just a quick hop between and you'd be relaxing on the beach.

Tallyn watch, curious as she chalked out a design. His knowledge of Weaver Craft was pretty basic. Beside performing simple repairs, anything more intricate was beyond him. He tilted his head, arching an eyebrow as Gale sketched. "That looks great! Much better than anything I could have accomplished. I hope you realize once everyone sees this they are all going to be ripping holes in their shirts just to get you to repair them." He answered with a broad smile.

Gale laughed at his appraisal, flattered. "Well, thank you! I don't think I would mind as long as things didn't get out of hand." She smiled and sat down again to continue sewing. The design would take some time to finish, but it seem like Tallyn would mind. He was in a better mood now and as far as Gale could tell they were both enjoying themselves.

"I am looking forward to being able to visit," she said as she stitched. "I think I might be looking forward to that more than Impressing...which sounds silly when I say it out loud. I guess I just cant even imagine what Impressing will be like, but the thought of bringing my dragon to the beach for the first time is very appealing. Especially after growing up in a place like this, I think it would be a magical experience for a young dragon. I can just imagine the reaction....it makes me smile."

She glanced up at him from her sewing, "Is there anything you can't wait to show your dragon?"

Tallyn relaxed back into his chair as Gale worked. Watching while she filled in the design she had chalked out. He nodded as she spoke. "Haven't given it much thought yet actually." He answered with a slight shrug of his shoulders. "I suppose High Reaches. There are some lovely views there. Not all this flatness and sand like Vaioa. I wouldn't mind going to a beach either. Most dragons seem to enjoy the sand and swimming in the sea."

"We'd still have quite a bit of training before we'd be allowed anywhere on our own though. They have weyrling practice going between until they can just about do it in their sleep." A smile tugged at the corner of his mouth as he remembered some complaining about the monotony of doing the same reference points over and over. Still even with instructions some pairs were lost do to an ill times jump or poorly formed image.

Glae smiled at Tallyn's words. "I know. It's going to be a while yet, but I'm still looking forward to it." She sighed wistfully. "It's going to be wonderful."

She stitched quietly for a little while, then asked, "So High Reaches is pretty? Tell me about it. I can't even imagine what it looks like up there."

[ooc: omg i think this is the shortest post in the history of Vaioa. But honestly shes stiching and talking, what else can i say? XD this is the trouble with conversation threads]

Tallyn envied Gale's seemingly unwavering belief that she would impressed. He'd felt the same way, but after walking off the sands three times in a row his confidence had been shaken. He still wanted to be a rider, more than anything, but doubts as to whether he ever be one had taken root. It was difficult remaining positive as others happily walked off the sands with a dragon while he remained. He was of course happy to see his friends impress, though there was always a small knot of jealousy as well. What did they have that he didn't.

Tallyn was quiet for a moment, picturing the Weyr in his mind. "Well it has these seven stone spires, supposedly that's how it got it's name. He explained. "It's in the mountains so it's quite a bit cooler than Vaioa, and we get a good deal of snow in the winter. You probably don't get too much of that in Souther Boll I'd imagine."

Gale listened to Tallyn's description, her lips parted slightly with awe. He was brief, but he still made High Reaches sound beautiful...even if she couldn't quite imagine the snow properly, the spires sounded majestic.

She shook her head and said, "No, I've never even seen snow! I've heard a lot about it though. It sounds beautiful." She continued stitching and added, "Boll is all sand and surf and plants. Lots of flowers. It's beautiful too, but I'd still like to see snow."

She quieted down a bit as she finished up her stitching. When it was complete, she put her needle and thread aside and held up the shirt. "There we go! All done! No one will ever know it was ripped." She smiled cheerily at him, hoping he was feeling better than when they'd first sat down.

"Never seen snow! He said in mock horror. "Well it is beautiful, for the most part, until you have to shovel it by the ton. It's pretty cold and wet as well. He mouth lifted into a mischievious smirk. "Snowball fights are quite a bit of fun though. It's too bad Vaioa doesn't get snow since I knwo one or two people I wouldn't mind pelting." He pictured K'mor taking one to the face and could help, but laugh out loud. He quieted, watching Gale work, "Well once we impress I will take you to see snow if you promise to take me to the beach."

Tallyn face turned serious as he bent to examine the stitching. He ran a finger over the design. A bright smile replaced his previously serious expression. "Thank you Gale, it is beautiful. I shall wear it with pride." He said with feeling, still fingering the design. He had few things made just for him. Most things were hand me downs, or from the stores in the lower caverns. It was a new sensation to have such a unique garment in his possession.

Gale handed over the garment, beaming with pride and pleasure. He looked so happy; it made her feel all fuzzy inside. "You're welcome!," she chirped. "It was my pleasure. And as for the beach, its a deal! No, a promise!" She placed a hand on her heart, feeling silly. "As soon as we both have dragons and are cleared for travel, I'll make good on my promise." Her smile turned a little mischievous. "And then I'll make sire you make good on yours!"

[ooc: =D i think that about sums it up. im loving these two]
