Welcome to Vaioa,

a desert triumvirate of Hold, Weyr, and Mine. Thread's return and bandit raiding brought strife between weyr and hold, but the bandits' recent defeat has returned the region to an uneasy peace. Now, a shipwreck on a forgotten continent and the decision to settle this rediscovered land has opened up a world of opportunity to Vaioa, if only they can handle the dangers.

Weyrling Lesson: Wing Training; For Dolomite Class AND WINGLEADERS

Al'dai looked down at the wax tablet on the table before him, then up once more again at the still-empty room. Others would begin arriving soon, whether the newest Weyrlings or his fellow Wingleaders. He did hope the Wingleaders had the decency to arrive first; it would make a better impression.

O'zen would be here for Shale and T'ech for Granite. Well, on second thought, what he really mean was he really hoped O'zen would be here soon. T'ech could be late for all he cared. If the Weyrlings found it lowered their estimation of the man... Al'dai couldn't exactly complain.

This Weyrling class had been Tuath's, the visiting Garnet. It was small, 8 riders, but they only had about a month left before graduation. 8 new riders to the wings would still be helpful to add strength and fill in gaps.

The Garnet rider-- Eleonora-- he had had to ask around before deciding what to do about her. T'ech had finalized these temporary assignments, but he and O'zen were asked to make requests. While a garnet in Sandstone might have been beneficial, apparently this rider was a wild card; it was still uncertain if she was going to be a strong and passionate fighter. He'd been debating requesting her but with sucha lackluster reputation, he'd decided T'ech could go ahead and have her, and see what he could make of her. Of course, he'd given her to the high-altitude wing, where her size would be most beneficial. All this aside, of course, these wing assignments weren't permanent. Rather, it was just for the Weyrlings to get a feel for working in a wing... and for them, the leaders, to keep an eye out for who they wanted in their wing once Graduation came in a month.

Again Al'dai looked over the list. It seemed that basing these things completely off altitude would be best, but there were other factors that went into determining wing position, including compatibility of wingmates. T'ech had probably done a decent job, but some tweaking might end up being necessary.
  • Eleonora, Garnet Lenath [Shale Wing: O'zen] -i
Olayla, Grey Eyoith [Sandstone Wing: Al'dai]
Andreya, Grey Eriardith [Shale Wing: O'zen]
Cl'sen, Blue Rhoth [Granite Wing: T'ech]
Eiric, Blue Sirith [Sandstone Wing: Al'dai] -i
T'lsin, Green Halieth [Granite Wing: T'ech]
Faile, Green Bayluth [Sandstone Wing: Al'dai] -i
Mattiee, Green Cerith [Granite Wing: T'ech] -i

The class's lessons from now until graduation would consist of attending wing training with their assigned wing. They knew almost everything they needed, from flying and flaming to betweening in formation. The only thing really left for them was to get acquainted with wing procedures. Today, the Wingleaders and the assigned weyrlings would meet each other and begin to go over formations and such... but starting tomorrow, the official training would begin.

[OK so basically as it says this is a meeting for the weyrling class to meet the wingleaders they've been temporarily assigned to. Upon graduation, they may end up in other wings, but it'd be great if you could play out at least a small part and try and get an idea of how you think they'd fit with their wingleader, in their temporary wing. That way we can know if you want to be reassigned during graduation or not.]

I feel so grown-up, Halieth informed her rider, mainly for the infusion of amusement she felt from him. She was excited, of course, to learn where she'd inevitably end up, and even more anxious to know where she'd be searing Thread from. T'lsin smirked, resting his cheek against the pale neck, peering down into the depths of the volcanic caldera as Halieth flew over it, taking a leisurely pace to their assigned meeting area. Do you think Rhoth and His are there yet?

T'lsin shifted somewhat uncomfortably in his straps under the guise of preparing for Halieth's landing. Dunno, he murmured, rocking slightly as the dainty green settled onto the weyr ledge. He took his time unstrapping himself, having purposefully arrived somewhat early in order to gather his nerves. Of course he was ready to graduate to a full-fledged rider, there was not a single doubt in his mind about that, but he still was somewhat nervous about integrating into a wing. The most they'd ever done in their previous training was between in formation.

I will come get you when you are done with your meeting! Halieth called after him as he entered the weyr, crooning a quiet goodbye before lifting off and winging back towards her own personal ledge, eager to bathe in the spring sunshine. T'lsin glanced around at the empty room, hands settling onto his hips. He spotted Al'dai with his wax tablet, and inclined his head, wondering if he'd been assigned into his wing.

"Morning, Wingleader."

O'zen was in high spirits as he made his way to the Council Room. He would get to meet with Vaioa's oldest weyrling group today and begin integrating a few into his wing - not permanently, but it was still a reminder of how close Vaioa was to having eight more dragons added to the wings. It wasn't a large number, but every rider counted in Threadfall.

Stepping inside the room, O'zen gave a cursory glance over those who had arrived so far. Only Al'dai and Tl'sin, then. He nodded to the young greenrider, pleased to see that he had arrived on time, and crossed the room to pull out a chair by Al'dai.

"Morning," he said and leaned over in his chair to get a look at the wax tablet Al'dai held. He scrutinized the list, picking out those who were assigned to his wing. It looked like it was just Eleonora of garnet Lenath and Andreya of grey Eriardith. They would be valuable additions if they were indeed assigned to Shale upon graduation.

Looking over the rest of the assignments, O'zen silently gave his approval of the arrangement. T'ech had done well. Of course, it would take practicing with the weyrlings to truly see who was suited for which wing, but this was a good start. He was pleased with how well T'ech had fallen into his position as Weyrleader. He'd had no faith in him in the beginning, but his respect had increased measurably for the man after his performance in Threadfall and how he dealt with the holders. O'zen hadn't thought T'ech had it in him. Although the Bitran hated to be wrong, this time he was relieved that he was.

Leaning back in his chair, O'zen peered over toward the door. T'ech and the rest of the weyrlings still had to arrive before they'd begin.

Almost adults! Eriardith could barely contain her glee as she pranced around in the space of her weyr. Andy pulled her shirt over her head and secured it with a belt that tied her shirt to her trousers. Then she pulled her favorite brown coat over the shirt. She looked stylish, as she should considering she was going to a meeting with the Wingleaders of all of the Wings barring the Queen's Wing. She didn't believe she would have ever made a good Queenrider in the first place.

"You're already an adult, Eri." Andy laughed, petting her gray's nose as she passed on her way to get her boots. "Just because we're nearly in a wing doesn't mean you're not an adult yet."

Haven't risen yet. Eri's voice suddenly became a lot quieter, and Andy paused in putting on her boots for a moment to look at her gray. Was she...? Yeah, she was nervous. Like always.

"Pshaw, Eri. You'll do fine, as always. Don't over-think it. I've gotta go else I'm going to be late." Andy said as a goodbye before leaving.

It took her only moments to reach the room, and she stopped slightly in surprise as she realized that she was only the second Weyrling there. She was sure she'd taken longer. Perhaps she should have done her hair. She nodded to the two Wingleaders Al'dai and O'zen and wondered where the Weyrleader was. Then she moved to where T'lsin was and took a seat.

You're nervous. Eriardith muttered and Andy could feel her support through their link. 'Just want to know who our Wingleader will be. The wait is killing me.' Andy thought back.

((Since Fishy is on LoA, I will be powerplaying T'ech slightly here.))

Al'dai looked up as the first person entered the room. It wasn't O'zen or T'ech, meaning it had to be one of the weyrlings. Al'dai only slightly recognized him; he didn't, in fact, know almost any of the Weyrlings. Something he probably, in retrospect, should have concentrated more on.

He glanced down at the wax tablet again. This was one of the greenriders, he knew that much, but... Oh. Obviously, the only male one. He grinned at the boy's greeting. "Good morning, T'slin." Thank Faranth for the powers of deduction. Openly not knowing the names of the riders who would possibly be additions to their wings was a very bad sign. Then again, he did think he could put a name to a face, he thought as he looked down at the list again.

Al'dai saluted O'zen as he arrived and smiled. Good of him to show up before T'ech, Al'dai thought with satisfaction (as though O'zen had planned this). "Morning," he replied, handing O'zen the tablet to take a look.

One of the greyriders walked in then and took a seat. Al'dai met her eyes briefly and looked over the tablet again. Not in his wing. Where were Faile, Eiric, and Olayla? Al'dai glanced at the time candle in the rut but the mark had not yet been reached. Well, they had a little bit of time, but they had best report soon.

T'ech chose that moment to stride into the room. Al'dai wondered if the man was looking harried or if it was just his imagination. Either way, he wasn't interested. His mouth hardened slightly and he looked away, feeling the silence stretch as they waited for the rest of the class to show up. It was rather good of T'lsin and Andreya. Gave a good first impression.

We are going to be late! Eyoith keened softly from her ledge. "I know Eyo just give me a moment to get Danu settled. Gaia come here." the dark green chirped softly and landed on the handle of the basket where the hatchling green was settled "She likes you so watch her. Don't let her bite anyone." Gaia chirped and looked down at the little one who was turning circles in the furs to go to sleep. Hopefully. Eyoith shoved her face in the entranceway Now. I want to know what wing we are to train with. Olayla hopped up from her bed and pushed Eyoith's cream-colored snout out of the way so she could get through.

"Sorry for taking so long." she apologized as she climbed up Eyo's shoulder, "I forgot how much attention baby firelizards needed." Eyoith snorted and took a quick leap from her ledge out into the open air, They are cute though. Olayla chuckled and gripped tightly at her straps as her dragon powered through the air, gaining as much speed as possible before she'd have to slow to land. Yes they are. I don't think I need any more after this though. They're all wonderful but it's getting harder to explain to the kitchen staff why I'm always taking extra food with me.

Eyoith dropped down on the ledge and Ola was off her back in an instant, combing her fingers through her hair to try and straighten the strands back to where they met her braid. She paused and took a deep breath to try and calm her nerves before striding into the room, If you need me I will be flying. You will do fine. Eyoith thrummed lovingly as she made her way back into the air. Olayla lifted her chin and strode into the room, glancing about she spotted the wingleaders first, she recognized O'zen immediately, while Al'dai and T'ech she only recognized vaguely. She was glad to see that T'lsin and Andreya already there and she sat down next to her fellow greyrider, hoping that the others would be along shortly.

Before long, all of the Wingleaders were present and accounted for, even T'ech, whom she'd only seen in passing. She looked at all of the men thoroughly, slightly disappointed that there were no women leaders. But she'd known that there hadn' been women leaders, of course... she'd seen all of the wings before. There were, however, women seconds and thirds, though Andy was slightly confused with the woman Taiori, who seemed to act, in every aspect, like a man. Andy wondered offhandedly if Taiori tried to pee standing up.

Of course, everything she'd heard about the copperrider had come from second- and thirdhand sources, so her information could have just been rumors formed to make the younger weyrlings scared.

Olayla entered the room and not soon after, T'ech also stumbled in. Andy tried not to look at the Weyrleader for anything other than who he was: the Weyrleader. Then again, it was hard not to; he was the weyrleader after all. Sure, she'd never amount to that position, but Andy had other ways to become important in the Weyr. However, everything certainly came down to how the Wingleaders, and even the Weyrleader himself, saw her.

That's why she had to arrive on time, which she did. When Olayla arrived, she gave a reassuring grin to the younger woman. She liked to believe that they'd become friends, especially after all of the training they did together. To think that they would no longer be part of their own little wing, to think that they'd be stripped away from their Weyrlinghood friends was a little daunting for Andy only because it was severely daunting for Eriardith, who loved the company of the other dragons of her hatching. But Andy knew the dragons would soon forget. Andy knew her friendships wouldn't be forgotten, though.

Therefore, she embraced this new Wing assignment with fervor.

Why didn't you wake me up earlier?! cried Cl'sen as he hopped about to struggle on the pants he grabbed out of nowhere. The blue dragon stood out on the weyrledge, saddle in his mouth as he waited for his bonded. You were tired! I wanted you to sleep a bit longer...

Well, at least Rhoth was thinking about his health. Cl'sen smiled. Thanks, but next time Rhoth, please wake me up when I need to, okay? The weyrling slipped on his goggles and saddled the blue before leaping onto his back and taking off towards the Council office.

I wonder who we will be with? Cl'sen had thought about the choices, and primarily he thought all the wings would be great to work with. He wasn't too sure about being in the Wyerleader's wing if he did go there. Just working with someone like the Weyrleader would be an amazing feat in and of itself, but it was a little disconcerting to say the least. He wasn't too sure he'd do a good job in that kind of wing...

We're here. Rhoth said to snap him out of his reverie. Alright. I'll be back in a bit. The blue was already trotting over to Halieth's side, leaving a smirk on Cl'sen's face. "Some things never change, I guess."

Seemed like he wasn't the only one not here yet. So far only T'lisn, Olayla, and Andreya had shown up. He was curious as to where Eleonora had gone off to. He hadn't seen her in quite some time, nor Eiric or the other greenriders. Would they get in trouble for not being here?

"S-Sorry I'm late everyone," he mumbled out, "Kinda overslept." Cl'sen hoped it wouldn't look bad to the other wingleaders here, including T'ech. Nervously he bowed a greeting, then waited for their assignments.

((I'm just going to pretend that Eleonora and the others did, in fact, show up.))

Al'dai glanced at Cl'sen, who had arrived moments before, as well as the others. Finally the Weyrlings were assembled. He'd have wished they were a bit more punctual; after all, they'd be graduating in just a month, and supposedly accepting the responsibilities of official riders... Being late for a meeting, with the wingleaders nonetheless, was not a good sign. It was only a few minutes past, though, so all in all not too bad.

Al'dai passed the wax tablet back to T'ech, who spoke briefly. "Well, you all know why you're here. Here are your assignments."

Al'dai made eye contact with Olayla, Eiric, and Faile as their names were called, and then leaned back, watching T'ech. The man put the tablet down and stood. Al'dai looked over at the other three once more. "Alright, let's just meet briefly over here," he called.

Olayla had to resist looking away when Al'dai met her eyes, she'd heard good things about sandstone and their wingleader. She knew they were mid-altitude and also thought that the candidate master Merilla might be in the same wing as well. It would be nice to see her again, Ola mused briefly, she wondered what her old teacher would think of her and Eyoith now. But other than Merilla she was unfamiliar with most of the other members, which would have to be remedied if she was to join their ranks.

She joined the others with Al'dai and gave them an encouraging smile, but still she was nervous.

((Sorry this took so long and it's so short :< ))
