Fardles, why was she even heading this way in the first place! It’s not like she had the courage to approach the search dragon and it’s rider, but her curiosity has gotten the best of her. A couple turns ago her best mate was taken by a search dragon. Apparently he had what it took to be a potential rider. Naniki could only roll her eyes at the memory, Jakuma a rider. Maybe when thread decided to stop falling she could see it. The boy was terrified of his own shadow, but who was she to question a dragon’s opinion. Before Jakuma, her distant cousin was searched too. Though she had no news if Jakuma had impressed, which to her was highly unlikely; but Mazikeen was indeed believable.

Naniki could remember the day Maze visited the family farm, Naniki was nothing but 11 or 12 turns when it happened. Her cousin only a few turns older then her, but that didn’t stop the search rider one bit from taken her cousin to Vaioa. It was a normal day for Nani. She was cleaning the stables of their prize Runnerbeast when a strong wind rattled the barn. Poor beast almost kicked her in his state of fright but Naniki was able to dodge its hoof just in time. She had ran outside with her pitchfork in hand ready to defend her families livestock when the brilliant hide of a copper dragon came into view. Naniki couldn’t believe her eyes, let alone believe that Maze was climbing down from the large beast. Both in awe and in fear, Nani didn’t dare move. The beast just yawned and it’s teeth was the size of her leg!! It could’ve easily ripped her to shreds. It was only the beaming face of her cousin that left her standing in her spot. Just watching the two interact was astonishing. How could one be so in tuned with each other in a short amount of time?

It was that memory alone that had Nani taking the families fastest runner beast into the center of the hold. Her curly medium brown her whipping across her face as the runner gallopers ahead. Nani has to squint her hazel green hues to prevent them from watering further. Nothing inside her made her think she could be a rider. If even asked she didn’t even want to be one. She was content with her simple lifestyle. Fine with running the family farm one day, but she could not for the life of her stop thinking about that day with Maze. Nani had canines she grew up with, but never came close to the bond Maze had with her dragon. What was it that made the bond between dragon and rider so so...so unique. The bond as Maze would say was stronger then that of her own parents.

Her intentions as she made her way to the hold wasn’t in hopes of being searched. If anything she wanted to confront the rider and demand an explanation. She wanted answers to a question her cousin could not give. All the while she wanted to be as far away from the dragon if that was possible. Maybe converse in one of the halls or taverns while the dragon stayed outside and away from her fragile self. She could feel the beat of wings close by before the shadow loomed over her. Hazel green hues glanced up as she watched the dragon glide with the wind. The runner beneath her tended between her legs but her firm grip and a kick to its side kept it true to its course.

“Don’t worry boy, it’s not gonna hurt us.” She could hear the uncertainty within her voice as she said it. Even if Maze had swore a dragon could never harm a human. Nani was skeptical. Surely something that enormous had to have an accident or two in its life time.

Said dragon had past her with ease and she could watch it before her. Circling above the center of the hold as it prepares its descent. Naniki swallowed a lump in her throat as she steeled her nerves. She was going to find out the answer to her question even if it killed her. She was hoping it didn’t. “What am I getting myself into.” Her whisper was drown in the wind.

In the wake of Fort's destruction, the Weyrs were stretched painfully thin. Casualties of that day and the ones that followed were staggering. The additional threadfalls that now fell into the rotation with fewer riders able to fly them created a continued pressure to seek out new candidates. Keeping the search riders quite busy beyond their regular tasks.

In N'thain's now turns worth of experience as a search rider, he'd found that Winter made for the easiest recruitment time. It seemed that a multitude of reasons made it more likely that able-bodied individuals would accept themselves into candidacy. Be it the cold keeping them within the confines of their homes, the lack of certain tasks, the extra mouths to feed.

The biggest issue was with the yet only partially understood loss of hundreds of riders from something other than threadfall. The unknown was terrifying. People were understandably tentative about their children or themselves residing in a Weyr. There wasn't exactly a guarantee that Fort was simply a singular occurrence that wouldn't be replicated elsewhere.

Still, that fear was lessened with both time and distance from Fort itself. Without ash actively raining down on folks, the recollection wasn't as forefront to them. Worries had turned to harvest and preparations for the cold seasons in many holds and Fort was merely an afterthought. It wasn't as if a majority of holders had felt the loss that had rippled through the ranks of those with dragons, and to a lesser degree whers and firelizards.
While this let N'thain off the hook to try and answer questions on something he couldn't exactly explain, he was also left with witnessing the ease of forgetting those lost.

Whatever the case was, for those not quelled by the dangers and were spurred by various reasons, if they were willing and understood the terms of their candidacy N'thain and Omeirth were there to help get them back to the Vaioa. The first step was up to the blue though, he was the one to look for those with potential.

Practice and repetition got the blue rider decently far with the situations he found himself in while searching. Turns ago he'd have stuttered with any attention turned his way from a Lord Holder, now he could put on a guise of confidence to get his intent across. So long as things went along with the regular flow. A tall man, with a graceful blue dragon at his back and gold firelizard adorning his shoulders. One would hardly think he could be as hot a mess as he could slip into.

It didn't take long for him to explain his intent to Lord Onad. Introducing himself and making the request for any interested parties that fell within the parameters for candidacy to be allowed to assemble.

Keroon was large and hopefully, would offer at least one hopeful today. Worst case meant it would be a short flight to the nearby beastcraft hall if they didn't find anyone here to relocate to the candidate barracks back home.

With the call going out, coupled with the obvious excitement for a dragon and rider in the hold proper, the crowd began to grow. Fleck, warm on his neck crooned gently at him, watching the people beyond with a critical eye as Omeirth pulled him into a conversation. The blue easily distracting him from the needless overthinking that would come with so many eyes on him. N'thain also keeping the blue from starting to sift through hopefuls prematurely.

'Are you planning to make toys for your little one?' He inquired, focusing on his rider.
'Thats the plan. My father made some for me before I was born, and I made some for Emelia, may as well keep that tradition in his memory. Maybe I'll make some little replicas of you and Quovinth.'
A small smile played across his freckled face. It was still a strange feeling, he was going to be a father. Beyond the odds stacked against them. It had been a staggering surprise. Even with the fact that he couldn't be the same sort of parent as his own parents were, he still planned on doing as much as he could.

The news of Fort made its way down to the little farm Naniki called home. It was only naturally for something so disastrous to reach the simple folk. What worried her the most was that no word of Mazikeen was heard. Could the disastrous events that occurred at Fort effect Maze and her copper? Nani has so many unanswered questions that only a rider answer for her. Oh how she hoped her cousin had transferred Weyr. It was slightly over a turn since she last saw her cousin. Well spotted her cousin from within her home. The copper just seemed to be growing and growing and with each passing time Nani saw him, she became that much more unsettled by its fangs.

The unexplainable event that happened in Fort was more of a reason becoming a rider was far from Nani’s mind. The unknown scared her. She didn’t know what outcome would happen if she hoped for such things. Atleast being a farmer or beastcrafter was predictable to a sense. It was only her curiosity of a bond Mazikeen has that sparked the idea. It was a faint idea. Barely noticeable within her mind, but it was very much there. If she feed it fuel there was no don’t the idea could consume her. Honestly if she didn’t have ties to a rider, Fort wouldn’t even have been a thought. The coming winter demanding most if not all of her attention. However everything happens for a reason even if one could not see the reasoning behind the events.

Naniki easily steered the runnerbeast through the hold. Her fingers gripped the reins tight enough to direct the creature where she wanted to go. She could see a crowd growing before the dragon and its rider. It wasn’t everyday one could be in the presence of such creatures. Personally Nani was please with that, but not everyone shared her fear of large beast able to swallow her whole. Her fear was apparently misplaced according to her cousin. Slowing the runner to a trot with a simple command and a pull of the reins, Nani sat up straight. Her hair no doubt was a winded mess. She eased the the runner to a stop before climbing off. She witness before her the glorious yet terrifying blue dragon and it’s rider. Out of the corner of her eyes she could see children no older then five or six turns daring one another to proceed forward. Clearly trying to see who the bravest of the bunch was. A smile played on her lips as she watched the small group gather courage only take take a few steps forward to fall back in fear.

She could see herself in the children. Wanting the courage to approach the blue pair, but fear making her unable to take another step forward. She prided herself for no shaking like she thought she would be. Though her fear could be seen in the stiffness of her shoulders. Hazel green eyes directed back towards the reason she even came to the center of the hold in the first place. Faranth were dragons big, though Maze’s copper was bigger it didn’t stop Nani from imagining the blue ripping off an arm or leg with a single bite. She could see the gold firelizard nuzzling against its owners neck. It was only the facet hues that Nani was able to distinguish between the freckles riders hair and his pet.

It was now or never. Taking the first step forward was hard. She felt her body protest to moving forward, but she forced herself to move. With each step she took she felt her courage gathering a little. The people around her shifted out of her way due to her runner falling next to her. The reins held tightly in her hand was the only source of comfort she correctly had. Finally she made it through the front of the crowd, but was lost for words. Hazel green hues glanced up at the blue and whatever she had planned to say fell from her lips and out of her mind.

She could just go home. Yeah she didn’t need to know the answers to her questions THAT much. Somethings in life were better left a mystery. Yes, that’s what she would go on telling herself. Naniki was ready to turn on her heel when the beaming face of her cousin flash behind her eyes. Then there were some questions that needed an answer. Nani swallowed the lump in her throat and took another step forward....alone. Her runner had no plans of being closer to the dragon then he already was. “Err, excuse me.” Her voice sounded small even to her own ears.

Both rider and dragon kept one another in check with their internal conversation. Focusing inwards as opposed to getting their attention stretched thin with the bustle beyond. This being said, some things snuck through. For Omeirth it was the children who bolstered up their courage to approach only to make a quick retreat back.

He crooned happily at the sight of the tiny things. It was exciting to him that he'd soon have one that he could play with back home. He was already in love with it, and he'd not even met it yet. The blue lowered his head to the street, turning his attention to the little throng without impeding too close too soon. A deep breath later, he cast a warm exhale in their direction. Sending the children squealing away in a mixture of fear and delight as their hair and clothes were ruffled. Omeirth letting out a draconic rumble of a chuckle.
'I'm excited for one of these.'
'Ours won't be that big for some time though, you'll have to be patient. People don't grow as fast as dragons.'
'It just means that they will be a smaller friend for longer.' He responded in his cheery optimistic way. N'thain grinning at the thought blissfully, patting the blue's flank.

Fleck was the first to notice Naniki's approach. The gold shifting her wings and focusing her whirling eyes on the stranger, bristling slightly. The slight movement of the firelizard enough to have her owner's focus dedicated towards her. Not needing to spur her agitation or alarm through their bond to convey what she intended.
She'd had his back for turns, and while there was a limit in their connection compared to N'thain and Omeirth's, there were signals that only turns of closeness had managed to forge. Tiny talons tightening ever so slightly was enough to drag N'thain's eyes away from Omeirth's enjoyment of watching the nearby children. Turning to face the girl just in time to catch her quiet call out directed towards him.

An earnest, warm smile played across his face as he looked to her. His gaze coupled with the tiny gold's stoic one, careful and calculating compared to the more naive one her owner gave. The blue rider noted her body language. Picking up on her nervousness but not exactly pinpointing the source. As someone who had suffered from near-crippling anxiety earlier in life, he often found it easy to make out in others.
N'thain assumed her purpose from the circumstance. "You're not late if you're wanting to try as well. We're just waiting for the last few hopefuls to gather before getting started. Though," He said looking past her, following the reins to the runnerbeast beyond. "I'd say it'd be best if you leave your runner back a bit, spare the poor thing more of a fright."

With his rider distracted, Omeirth's attention reluctantly left his small onlookers to figure out what had stolen him away from their conversation. Raising his head and looking back he noted the girl and the runner beyond. Delicately he sorted himself out, moving carefully to turn and sit on his haunches a respectful distance. Not wanting to spook the runner in a gathered crowd. Cocking his head to the side like a large, oddly shaped canine.

'I see the runner. I'll be careful.' The blue offered to N'thain, without any insistance from his rider.

All three had set their sights on Naniki now, and save Fleck's slight distrust, there was a warmness from both the boys.

The searchrider’s warm smile had a calming effect on Naniki. She could feel some of the tension between her shoulders lessen. How could a dragon pose a threat to anyone if another human was so calm next to one. Maybe some of her fear was misplaced, but then again she had no ties to said dragon. Who knew how it would react to her. How would the dragon react when it’s rider was not around? Could it be like a rabid canine needed to be put down? Just the thought built her tension back up. Her fear was short lived as she heard what the rider said. Nani blinked rapidly as she tried to process what he meant and when it hit her her lips parted in a little o.

She shook her head frantically, ”Oh no I’m not here for that.” Nani could easily understand he has mistaken her intentions. Why else would anyone approach a searchrider?

Her confusion vanished once she watched the blue dragon shifted his frame towards her. She could feel its facet gaze upon her person. Subconsciously she took a step back. Nani could feel the tug of the reins as the runner picked up on her nervous energy. ”O...o..okay.”

She moved the runner towards a post and tied his reins against it. ‘you can do this Nani. Just gather the courage.’ She nodded her head and patted the flank of the runner before making her way back towards the front of the crowd. Though her body was stiff and one could see the slight uncertainty in her eyes.

”If you have a minute I would like to ask you a question.” the nervousness didn’t leave her body posture. ”I’m not here trying to get searched” a sheepish smile played on her lips.

Naniki actually felt rude and even intrusive at that very moment. How many others wanted the chance to be taken to Vaioa? There was no doubt in her mind that many would have dreamt of even the chance to stand before these two and see if they had the potential to become a rider. Nani on the other hand just had some questions she wanted answered. ”Though I’m flattered you would assume such things, I don’t think i would be cut out for it.”

N'thain watched her carefully, looking a bit confused and taken aback at his apparently incorrect assumption. Sharing a glance between him and Omeirth as the young lady retreated to secure her runner.
'Any idea?'
'Nope, but I'm sure you're able to help nonetheless.' Omeirth offered in a supportive done. More confident of his rider's ability to deal with this deviation than N'thain himself.
'You're on deck if I can't.' N'thain said looking back to find he had lost Naniki in the sea of bodies.

His height not exactly countering her stature amongst the gathered crowd. Switching a smile back on once she appeared again. The girl's body language, was screaming discomfort that he desperately tried to figure origin of. Was it simply confronting a rider in and of itself? Stepping a little closer as if to cautiously test that theory and give some more privacy to her as she vocalized her request.
"Of course, How can we be of service?" He asked earnestly, attempting not to loom over the young lady, something he'd nearly perfected with Lyllia being a few inches shorter than the woman now before him. Though his weyrmate had enough personality to dwarf him completely.
"And you never know. I'd have said the exact same thing about ten turns back. Dragon's tend to find and bring out the qualities we don't think we have. No harm in trying right?"

A throat cleared somewhere behind them as he finished speaking, leaving no room for Naniki's response.
N'thain glanced back at the now gathered cluster of waiting people that clearly met the standards of candidacy.
"I uh..." He flushed slightly at what most likely looked to be his holding up his own search.
'We can stick around a bit if I don't find anyone, or while those I do find gather their stuff.' Omeirth offered, having Natty glance up at him and take a breath and nod curtly at the blue. Fleck crooned calmingly by his jaw as she nuzzled into the curve of it, following along as he looked back at Naniki.

"No risk in seeing if you've got what it takes, either way, we can talk after right?" His smile was a bit shaky as he turned to the gathered grouping, directing them into a semi-circle line around Omeirth. Displaying the hopefuls like a deck of cards.
Raising his voice he spoke to them as they settled into their places.
"My name is N'thain, and this is Omeirth. We're looking for candidates for Vaioa Weyr. I ask that you consider your options before you agree to anything, as there are both risks and rewards. You're not guaranteed to become a rider, but it's more likely that you will impress if you commit to stand on the sands. You will be asked to follow strict rules and work hard since candidacy is a privilege, not a right."

"If this is your first time before a search dragon, please do not be disheartened if you're not chosen. It doesn't mean you don't have the potential, you are more than free to try again next time. Omeirth? If you'd like to take a look at the hopefuls?" He had more to say, if and when Omeirth made his selection.
Omeirth rumbled happily, dipping his head, bobbing it slightly in a nod. His runner-like face was more than half the height of many of the younger children. Whirling blue-green eyes inspecting each one. Playful little huffs of breath and the occasional extra sniff placed here and there. Working his way down the line.

As he looked at Naniki he hesitated. Tilting his head at the girl again. Speaking to her directly, his tone calm and warm.
"Would you like to come with us little one?" His eyes whirling faster with delight.
Lifting his head he to look back at the rest of the people around he nodded his head in a curt bow.
"Thank you all for your patients and participation. Perhaps we will meet again."

N'thain quickly thanked the Lord Holder before turning to the young lady again, speaking before he even saw her around Omeirth's bulk as the Dragon crooned softly at her now that his job was done.
"Well I guess you have our undivided attention now."

sorry for any misspelling or grammar mistakes. I wrote this in my phone notepad while at work lol

She could help but notice how much smaller she was to the bluerider, let alone his dragon. Naniki always seemed to be the smallest person her age and even then some kid younger then her made her feel like a child when she stood next to them. Genetics had a part to play. Seeing as her mother was only a fraction of an inch taller then her. Who knew maybe she would hit a growth spurt out of no where. Yeah she could dream.

Nani was indeed flattered that the bluerider had assumed she wanted to be searched. She could fault him for thinking such things because why else would anyone approach a searchrider? However the though of her becoming a rider sent a chill down her spine. She couldn’t imagine standing so closely to a dragon with such ease. Maybe a hatchling she could deal with when their teeth couldn’t do TOO much damage, but even then the idea was ludicrous.

Before she could let a word fall past her lips someone cleared their throat leaving Nani embarrassed. A faint tongue of pink colored her cheeks as she realized she was holding up something that was rather important. Some kids dreamed and hoped for this day to come and here she was prolonging said dreams. She took a step back as she lowered her head allowing her hair to cover her face.

N’thain. So that is what his name was. Naniki peeked through the curtain of her hair and glimpsed the two. ’Omeirth.’ Honestly it was her curiosity that made her take a subconscious step forward. She found herself standing next to a young men hoping that Omeirth saw potential within him. Deep down she wanted to know what the bond was like. Deep down she wanted to understand what Maze failed to explain to her. She didn’t want to just be told about it. Naniki wanted to experience it herself. However that was deep down where she could be truthful to herself. The girl needed to get over her fear of dragons before she could ever consider trying to impress.

The young women was so lost within her own mind that she didn’t register that the blue dragon was before her. It was his warm breath fluttered her hair that caused her to snap back to reality. Hazel green hues blinked rapidly as her vision adjusted to the dragon before her. Swirling facet hues seem to look past her physical frame and examine deeper into her soul. A small squeal bubbles past her lips as she made a small jump back. Her hands flew up to cover her mouth to prevent her from making a louder noise. That’s when she felt it not the fear that courses through her veins, but another brushing against her mind. It felt strange to her, foreign and almost a breach of her privacy. She could decipher where or who it was coming from until she heard his voice.

Naniki couldn’t trust herself to speak. Fear still had its claws duh within her and she was afraid if she opened her mouth it would be words that she released. There was no reason for her to be afraid of dragons. She had never heard of a dragon attacking a human, but it was a primal instinct to fear something larger. To fear something that could easily rip you to shreds. Unknowingly she nodded her head. She could heard the disapproved and reluctant groans of people wishing they would be searched. Out of the entire group it was her. Another emotion began to peek its head and that was excitement. Nani wanted a bond like Maze had with her dragon. She wanted something as strong as that. She wanted that experience.

She couldn’t see N’thian over the bulk of the blue’s hide, but she heard him. A nervous laugh left her as she tried to peer of the dragon and see the blonde rider. ”It would seem so.” she looked at Omeirth and wondered if he could pick up her fear. It took everything within her not to hide behind someone as the swirling hues were focused on her. Though she tired not to show it, she knew her stiffness around the dragon was easily seen. ”Is it always like that? I mean when he talks to you?”

N'thain internally fretted about how the whole thing looked. Were the unsearched people thinking there had been a bias or set up in the matter since he'd been talking to her prior to Omeirth choosing her? Did they think the pair had been paid off or something? He sighed and ran his fingers through his curls, hand drifting to run down Fleck's curving back. Her little tail curling around his neck securely. Both uncomfortable and reassuring. Whatever was thought, he couldn't do much about it now. Turning his attention to the second part of the search. Trying to think back on how he himself had been convinced this was a potential path for him.

Omeirth, a bit more oblivious to the fact Naniki was scared of him directly. Realizing she wasn't exactly overjoyed by his decision. He lowered his large head slightly, crooning at her a little quieter. Small flashes of yellow worry entering the whirlwind of his usual cheery blues and greens.

"You're overcrowding her a little you know." N'thain offered. Patting the dragon's neck as he moved closer to their hopefully future candidate. Omeirth shuffling back VERY slightly. His excitement of this new potential friend was too exciting for him to remove himself back from the situation more.

With Omeirth's bulk creating a blockade of sorts between the two people and those lingering to continue to take advantage of the available proximity to the pair. The rider seemed to drop the guise of trying to look proper, opting to lean into the gradient hide of Omeirth's lowered neck. The dragon's head dipping for a moment before he compensated the added weight.

Blinking for a moment and contemplating how best to answer her questions.
"Sort of? I'd have to liken it to talking to someone else's dragon, where you have that familiarity of sensation but you're connected by their own choice, not yours. Connecting with your own dragon is more intense? If that would be the right word to use. It takes some getting used to, but you feel them, hear them, know what they're feeling even if you can't quite describe it."

With the crowd mainly gone N'thain looked past at the still very alert runner beyond. "Imagine being able to calm down your runner with just thoughts alone. Moving with it without physical commands and having complete trust and comprehension of it's abilities."

"In any case, I don't want to pressure you if you don't want to go to Vaioa, but at least consider it. We can fret all we want over if we're good enough, but it isn't for us to decide in the end." He said, patting at the hide beside him. He hoped to get her seemingly more on board before he explained the dangers and the rules in more depth.
"You can decide to leave candidacy at any point, and there is no fault in that, but you have an opportunity before you not everyone gets."
'If you do come with us, you are always welcome to seek us out and we will do what we can. You won't be alone at Vaioa in any case.'

N'thain paused for a moment and extended his hand out to her, straightening a bit as he realized he'd not properly introduced them, at least not in a personal manner.
"N'thain by the way." He then nodded slightly towards the blue, "Omeirth." and finally moving his head again to expose the gold around his neck better. "And Fleck."

The soft croons of Omeirth was slightly soothing. It reminded Nani how the wherries would croon to their hatchlings to try to comfort them. Omeirth’s crooning only offered some comfort as the fear was still there, but not so intense for her. She was mesmerized by the swirling facet hues. She had never experience witnessing Maze’s dragons eyes to do something so marvelous before. She assumed blue-green was the only eye color dragons held. Then again this was only her second dragon she encountered. It’s not like she lived at the Weyr where dragons were an abundance. Here the only chance she had to be near a dragon was when a search rider was present and Nani found it in her best interest to avoid the center of the Hold.

Naniki watched N’thain move forward and lean on his dragon with ease. No fear. That comfortable closeness with another. She listened closely to what the bluerider has to say. The ability to feel and sense another. The ability to be intertwined with another being in a way she knew millions of people wishes to be with their life mate. A bond that nothing short of death could break. The idea intrigued her greatly. Hazel green hues averted to her runner. Numerous times she has been bucked off the beast of a tunnelsnake crosses their paths. It took it far to long to calm it and required her to have a strong hold on its reins to do so as well. To be able to just touch it’s mine and soothed it would make life easier.

What intrigues Naniki the most was the ability to leave candidacy whenever she please. So she did have the option to leave the Weyr if she became to overwhelmed with it all or if her fear didn’t lessen. That only is what made her extend her hand in a firm handshake. ”It’s pleasure to meet you N’thain.” she beamed her best smile that reached her eyes as she was truly genuine to meet him even if his dragon made her afraid. ”Omeirth, Fleck, it’s a honor to be before you and to be given the chance to stand within the sands.” her smile faltered a little as with her free hand she scratched the back of her head. ”We have one slight problem.....dragons well.....I’m afraid of them.” though she tried to brush it off one could still notice the stiffness in her posture. One would notice how she kept glancing over at the blue every so often.

N'thain grinned at the firmness of her shake. It at least built up his view of her being tough enough for the physical aspect of candidacy. Nervousness aside, she seemed to have a good disposition, an ideal trait in his mind. Omeirth had proved to him well enough, that confidence wasn't mandatory in a rider, at the very least not in the beginning. In his case, it had been something he could more or less learn.

The whole 'honor to be before them' thing was off-putting for N'thain. It always felt a bit weird for others to see him as someone of rank when he was one on one. He had been a rider for turns now, but he was hardly the type to let it go to his head. Preferring to talk to everyone as openly and honestly as he could manage, instead of instinctually falling into a pit of trying to achieve the same level of formality they spoke to him with, or more likely starting into a flustered stutter.

He wondered if it was her nerves that had her forget to introduce herself. Where the blue rider was far too awkward to point out this fact, his dragon was more at ease with poking for more information in his cheery way. He was about to inquire when she made her statement.

Both blue and rider jerked their heads. Omeirth lifting his upwards a bit but not enough to displace the leaning rider badly. N'thain straightened, both with Omeirth and his own reaction as he jolted his head like a startled runner. Fleck chittering in disproval as the sudden movement knocked his head against her body.

"OH?...oh..." Was all he could manage at first, his tone near the end indicating him putting two and two together. Exchanging a brief glance with his dragon before, removing his weight from Omeirth's neck as he felt the hide beneath him quiver.

Released, Omeirth reeled back. Tucking all his limbs in close to himself as he drew away from the girl. Eyes flaring with yellow and a soft whine ebbing deep within him. No longer blocking the two away from the rest of the world, a few onlookers stared at the sudden movements of the blue in curiosity and concern.

"Woah now, alright. O-okay. Um..." N'thain found himself in the middle of the two, knowing that Omeirth didn't intend to move so fast but he could feel the concern radiating through their bond. Fleck on his shoulder chittering at the girl as if to scold her for upsetting her boys.
"I'm sorry!" Omeirth said "I didn't mean to scare you. Mine says that I can be too forward, but I just get excited."

Rubbing at the back of his head in earnest, fingers brushing over the gold firelizard to calm her down as well with the action. N'thain took a deep breath. Well, it did explain her behavior. It did make him feel like a dimglow for not realizing how obvious she was in hindsight.
"I can....I can understand that, shards. I'm scared of whers myself." He said, unable to hold off the shudder, his lower back tingling at the thought of the wrinkled creatures with all their sharp aspects.
"Dragons are big, Omeirth is even small for a blue, but they're very aware of their size. They wouldn't willingly hurt a person, it's not in their nature. Honestly more likely to get hurt by a firelizard."
Attempting a small smile at the end of his last comment.

"I'm sure if you get to know some you'd realize that pretty quickly." His voice was strained a bit, while he wholeheartedly believed what he was saying, he knew it would have to take a whole lot more for him to believe that himself when it came to whers. Though he had, at least in his mind, a totally reasonable fear of the creatures.
