Pierce Blythe pulled into the Safeway parking lot, and turned off his car. He took in a deep breath of the unpolluted air, and then opened the door and stepped out. He understood now why Forks was such a popular town for his kind...he hadn't seen the sun since he'd arrived nearly a week ago. It might be a good idea to consider coming here on a semi-permanent basis, if he hadn't come to the States for the sole purpose of vengeance. As it was, he would study human nature and then use his knowledge against those filthy wolves, and if he was still living he would go back home to England. But first thing was first. If he was going to study humankind, he would have to get close to them. And if he was going to be close, he might have to invite some back to his house for...a party, or something. So he would always have to be prepared with food. Which meant he would now have to learn to grocery shop. Pierce grabbed a cart on his way inside, and once in he observed all the aisles and their contents. It'd been so long since he last had to eat human food, he'd forgotten almost entirely what was what. What did humans generally eat as meals? Snack food? Drink? He decided to start with meat - something he understood somewhat - and work his way from there. He turned his cart and headed down the meat aisle. |

"I can do this...I can do this...I can totally do this..." Lotte muttered. She'd trained for this. She'd practiced it again and again, ran the steps through her head over and over until she could do it in her sleep. It was no problem. No problem at all. She sighed, and walked into the Safeway, dressed in it's ugly uniform. At least in gymnastics she had some nice costumes. But now she was going to have to learn how to have a real job (her first), and work in an apron and restrictive khakis. "Charlotte," a familiar voice said. Jack, her boss. "Remember how to stock?" Yes, of course she did. She remembered every single step to every job. "Yes, I do." "We need a restock on laundry detergent." Charlotte nodded and ducked into the back, grabbed the laundry detergent stock and pushed it down a few aisles until she reached the cleaning aisle. She found the right brand and began to restock the shelves. It was mind-numbing work. Pick it up, put it on the shelf. Pick up another, put it on the shelf. The same steps over and over. Five hours to go. |

Autumn pulled into a parking spot near the front of the store. She turned off her car and got up. I don't really see the point of this. But I guess I gotta do whatever I can to make sure no one finds out. Autumn thought to herself as she grabbed a cart and walked into the store. First she went to the fruit section of the store. As much as she disliked human food now that she was a Vampire she didn't completely hate the taste of fruit. It was something she could at least stand somewhat. Although she never really ate it unless someone was over and she had to. After getting some Watermelon with fruit seasonings among some other fruit she went over to the meat area. |

Sheena caught the scent of a vampire she had seen on the way out of the school at the Safeway. She entered, and followed her nose until she found her canoodling around the fruit section. A vampire that eats fruit...? Ah, well, I suppose you need to keep up appearances. Sheena watched as the female vampire headed to the meat section. Ah, something Sheena could relate to. She followed and caught up with the girl. "Hello." Sheena said in a soft voice. "I haven't met you before, but it seems we will be going to the same school." |

Autumn turned away from some stake that she was looking at and looked the girl who was talking to her. "Oh, hello. I guess we are. I seem to remember passing you on my way to the office. I'm Autumn, nice to meet you." She said politely to the girl vampire standing in front of her. |

Pierce paused before some packaged meats. He pushed his finger into one particularly red piece of meat, and watched as it slowly pushed back against the plastic restraints. How disgusting. He picked it up and put it in the basket, along with a few others. He glanced down at the labels. Now - what went with pork chops, chicken breasts, sirloin steaks and turkey drumsticks? Suddenly...the smell of another vampire. Two, actually. He turned and saw two vampiresses that appeared approximately his age (though appearances were entirely deceiving). It was time to head to another section. He was happily a loner. He pushed the cart and turned into a strong-smelling aisle. Cleaning supplies. Well, he probably needed some of those, too. He picked up 'dish detergent' (and reminded himself to pick up some dishes), paper towels and Windex before coming across several brands of laundry detergent. He watched as a young human girl put a specific brand on the shelf. Her expression was blank...bored, really. What a fantastic opportunity. "Which would you recommend?" he asked, attempting to hide his English accent as best as possible. |

Charlotte looked up as she suddenly heard...the most...incredible...voice. Deep and smooth and...English. "Huh?" she mumbled, when she looked into his face. The face was incredibly beautiful, too. Pale skin, strong facial structure, odd but lovely gold eyes, a warm smile. She found herself smiling back at him, her mind wandering... Oh, wait. Laundry detergent. He was asking about laundry detergent. Not if he wanted to get married, have three kids and a house with a yard and a white picket fence. Lotte reached onto the shelf and grabbed a box without taking her eyes off of this...angelic customer. "This one," she managed to say, holding it out to him. She wasn't even sure which brand it was. It didn't matter. |

Pierce grinned. He'd almost forgotten how humans reacted to a vampire's appearance and scent...though he hadn't forgotten what his voice could do. His voice was his greatest weapon. He took the offered box gratefully and placed it in the basket. "Thank you very much..." he paused, looking at her nametag. "Charlotte." He pushed the basket around her and headed out of the aisle. He had a few more food items to buy first. He headed for the dairy aisle and picked up some milk and butter, and then went to the produce section to examine their selection of lettuce. |

By the time her brain had managed to inform her mouth to insist on being called 'Lotte', the amazing boy had walked away. "Oh...too bad," she sighed, turning to stock the shelves again. At least she was in a small town...chances were they'd see each other again. They might even be in the same classes... Charlotte had never been one to daydream about boys. She was always too focused on her school and gymnastics. But what the hey? She had much more freetime now. And it was something to think about other then the constant 'pick up item, put on shelf'. |

"Sheena." Sheena flashed a smile before looked around. She didn't really need anything, as she was staying outside of town in a large abandoned white house, and she didn't really need to keep up appearances. "Well, I'm gonna be going. Nice to meet you and I guess I will see you at school tomorrow." |

Autumn smiled back at Sheena and then continued to look at meat. The smell of blood packaged with the meat made her nose wrinkle a little bit. She was still getting use to the smell of animal blood, even though she'd been drinking it ever since she became a vampire. After getting the meat that she wanted she went off to get paper towels and soap among other random things that humans may need. |

Sheena walked - painfully slowly - back to the front of the store. She couldn't wait to get out of this place and run through the woods. They always made her feel more relaxed. No matter where you were, the trees would always be trees. When she finally exited, she crossed a few streets in the pitifully small town and entered the tree line. |

After Autumn had gotten all of her things she walked to a self check-out and bought her things. She walked out to her car, put her things away then got in and drove home. |

After selecting a few other food items, some cleaning supplies and other things needed for a reasonable human home, Pierce quickly checked out, eager to leave the supermarket. He left the store, threw everything into his car, and drove home. |

"Half an hour..." Charlotte whispered to herself as she mopped a floor where a pickle jar had fallen. "Just half an hour..." She'd spent all her work day stocking shelves, carrying bags to cars, and of course...mopping messes. One customer hadn't kept a close eye on their child, and boy had walked straight to the sweets aisle and stuffed his face with candy and packaged cookies, pouring crumbs and crushed sweets all over the floor. It'd been a nightmare to clean. "Half an hour," she sighed again, putting the mop away. Half an hour, and then she was free. Maybe she'd go home and unpack. Or sit on the swing. Or take a walk. Or check out that beach she'd heard about. Just something, anything, but more mopping. |
