March 13th or 20th WHF Tournie using SCGT Comp.
Either standard 9-6pm-ish three round tournie with later club night running to 9 or 10pm, or a 9-9 four round tournie, or if we really want to push a weekend's worth of games into a single day, 8:30am-11pm and five rounds....

I'm all for helping to run this, but I really want to play for the practice so cannot really act as TO as it would be unfair for me to mark lists, etc...

April 3rd WHF Tournie using SCGT Comp.
Same as above really, if no one can step forward to run this then maybe drop the idea or use the date for something else, maybe a campaign day or something?

May 15th & 22nd, 40K 500pt tournie and Warmaster tournie
Bascially the two middle weekends of May that (as far as I know) aren't affected by Bank Holidays. One day I want to run a Warmaster Tournie, and on the other I'd love to take part in a 40k 5-600pt tournie. My guess is that you can easily fit 500pts into a 9-6pm event schedule, so proper tournie number of games wise, just itty-bitty points.

June sometime, no comp WHF tournie

If demand exists I fancy going mental and running a full day 8am-11pm five round tournie...

So comments, anyone interested, anyone interested in helping to run or take part in one of these?

Sounds good. Let's discuss at the committee meeting and I'll pull together a calendar

A little heavy on the fantasy tournaments...

I think we can do at least one, full day (say 12-8pm) 40k tournament. 1500pt games are quick enough.

If it means it will actually happen, I'm prepared to run it.

One day tournies generally run from about 9am to 6pm. The advantage that we have is that we can run a full day standard three round event, and just bump the club session to 6-9pm so running an event need not detract from normal club business too much.

The schedule is heavy on the Fantasy side of things simply because that is what I personally either want to see being run, or want to run myself. I am more than happy for people to come forward and put their hands up to offer to run something in another system, and this is probably something that we ought to discuss at the committee meeting.

With that in mind, if anyone who isn't on the committee wants to add something to the discussion, feel free to do so either here in this thread, or on Sunday. We'll probably hold the 'meeting' side of things at about 2pm as Damian is going to be stuck at home until then. We'll get the paperwork side of things out of the way as much as we can first though.

I should also point out that the idea behind the 500pt 40K tournie is nicked straight from The Overlords and their '40K Evolution'.

Basically start off with a 500pt tournie, run a campaign afterwards with the tournie effectively being the opening salvo of the campaign. Then two months later run a 1000pt tournie, rinse, repeat, and then go to 1500pts two months later, and if you really want rinse repeat again and hit 2k two months after that.

The idea is to encourage people to collect and paint either their existing 40K armies, or a new one. Obviosuly I will be starting virtually from scratch.

Anyway, events wise, if someone wants to run something then I'm more than happy for them to do so. Running events is a very good way of adding a bit of cash to the club's kitty with which to buy new boards, terrain and so on.

Escalation events are common place in the tournament world, that much I know...

I also understand why they are great for people who want to start collecting a new army.

I'm not adverse to the idea, I'm just saying if we're going to do a 40k tournament, soon (i.e before you are ready to get back into 40k) it may as well be with standard 1500pt armies.

Keep things simple IMHO, especially if I have anything to do with running it!! :)

Ah no, the point is that I want to play really badly with a half painted army in a 500pt tournie in May. If you want to run something more conventional sooner then please be my guest and I'll help in whatever way I can of course. Although with the number full Sundays that I'm going to have to 'ask' the wife about, I probably won't be able to be there all day long.
