They need not necessarily be tournies, but can be campaign team events or whatever. But basically there is the possibility of organising at the very least visits to other local (IoW London or an hour's drive away) games clubs and then them reciprocating or vice versa to play either one-day, usually three game tournies, or if we are really mad for it then at their's all day on the Saturday, and back to ours to finish things off at ours all day on the Sunday.

Its something that I discussed with Steve, the Chairman of the Overlords a while ago for 40K, but it's also something that the Og boys seem to be keen on for Warhammer.

So, shall I move things forward and lay down some gauntlets?

I should point out that I don't 'yet' play 40K really. I am hoping to have the start of an army ready by May, so from a personal PoV I'd rather do something Warhammer related first, and then maybe do a 40K exchange, challenge, mini-tournie or whatever maybe towards the end of May or June some time...

I'm in, but 40k only.

Armageddon Inc in High Wycombe, I'm sure will be up for a one-day event with easily 5-10 players...

So, who's up for actually running a tournie? I'm going to run a Warmaster tournie, probably in may. I'd love someone to step forward to run a WH tournie in march or early April so that I can take part for SCGT practice, and I think that a 40k event in May or June would be good, 500pts would suit me as I might have my GL's ready at that level by then... It would also make a great start to a 40k escalation league...

I'm afraid I've whored myself off to a third club! It's basically Veterans night (Thursdays) at the Uxbridge GW, which is 5 minutes from where I work. Popped in last night and managed 2 separate games of 40k, whopped ass in both :)

So, I could quite easily organise a one day tournie, it all depends on which club is more prepared to travel...

I think 1500pt games though, so as not to complicate things too much. The escalation could be reserved for "Imps only" campaigns.

Let me know if I should start getting some interest with the other clubs...

The idea of the 'escalation' is that it's a method to help people collect a new army, which for me and 40K is very appropriate as I don't really have a useable army at present, just lots of boxes, blisters, MO bags and some half painted BT units.

So you start the whole thing off with a one day 500pt tournie, then maybe a month or two later have another one day tournie, but this time maybe 1000pts, or 1250pts, then two months later 1500pts, and so on. In the meantime you run a ladder league for club members who wish to participate so that they're getting practice with their armies in between events, with all the 'ooh that looks cool' feedback for their new units, etc...

I'm basically very much up for this, but not the running the actual event side of things as well, I know naff-all about 40K these days. I can obviously book the venue, sort out a paypal address for ticket sale and so on, even advertising on the sites that I frequent.

As far as when. Well, I am looking at one of the middle of May for the first campaign day, mini-tournie or whatever whoever wants to run it wants to run basically. The other middle weekend I'll run a Warmaster tournie.
