No pictures as of yet, but maybe I'll do a painting blog-thingy here once I've cleared some space on the camera. Basically I'm painting an all-cav Empire army. First of all I am concentrating on the knights, firstly because they are core units, and secondly because there are three units of them to paint... Anyway, as of yet I have done a test scheme on a ropey horse that had lost its tail, and a test of gold on an even ropier horse that had broken at the knees (I had converted it ten years ago, never painted it and wear and tear eventually took their toll on the joint where I had repositioned its rear legs). In my view the end results are actually quite good. Apart from the metalics I've basically just used foundation colours on their own where possible. I may alter this to introduce a scorched brown element to the basing scheme, etc... But in essence so long as you're 'fairly' neat, then the dip takes care of the rest. I am going to try a different gold as the base for one more test painting before committing, but I am otherwise very pleased with the results, and giving it a quick drybrush with mithril silver has worked a treat. |
