Bernie is supporting Sepp Blatter. He is not even trying to deny Blatter is guilty in the bribe scandals. All in a day's work. From the BBC: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/formula1/34552570 Some telling quotes: "If people allegedly have been corrupted to make things happen in their country, it's good." "It's a tax football had to pay." "because of him we have a lot of countries around the world that are now playing football". Bernie is understandably sympathetic to Blatter and we can see the parallels. As much as Bernie built F1 he was still guilty of paying a bribe. And he thinks that he and those like him are above the law. Similarly his support of Blatter shows his disregard for the rule of law and the need for decency in society. This attitude will always leave a black spot on Bernie's career. He is out of touch. |
