I have noticed how ridiculous the greed factor is getting in some US airports.

Nothing is more demonstrative of this than the prices of drinks at air port bars. It has gone from bad to worse and you really need to ask the prices before ordering.

I was transiting through Houston a couple of weeks ago and had a couple hours to kill. I went to a bar/restaurant and ordered bar rum and coke. It came in the tiniest of glasses, and even then the glass wasn't full.

The waitress took my name and opened a tab for me. For my second drink she was on a break, and another person behind the bar took my order. I asked for my tab because my plane would be boarding soon. I got the bill. Just under $20 for two tiny drinks. I could have bought a bottle from duty free and a can of coke zero for that price.

I didn't say anything and paid the bill. I left a few minutes later and shortly after leaving the bar I heard my name being paged by the girl waitress. It hit me. The $20 was not for two drinks but for one drink.

I kept walking. No way I was going to pay $20 for a large thimble full of bar rum and coke. That pricing is beyond usurious. It is filthy disgusting.

I should point out in Narita, Tokyo airport, I bought a much larger rum and coke plus a lovely sandwich for about $7.50. There is no need for American air ports to be so greedy.
