Strange changing conditions here during Q2 where track changed frequently between wet and very wet. Caught out some by surprise in the last 3 minutes as some backmarkers suddenly jumped forward, and then last 2 minutes in serious wet conditions left no way to improve. Out in Q2: 11 Raikkonen 12 Button 13 Kvyat 14 Sutil 15 Magnussen 16 Perez |

Comment from Edd Straw: "That session was a good illustration of the risks you take in qualifying. Vergne, Massa and Hulkenberg, the three slowest Q3 qualifiers, all opted for used intermediates for their first runs before switching to fresh ones. That left them vulnerable, with all three in the bottom six on their first run times, but they managed to bump their way into the top 10 on their fresh rubber, with deteriorating conditions making it difficult for Raikkonen and Button to improve on their final laps." |

Indeed Rosberg was overdriving in the deteriorating conditions towards end of Q3. Illustrating how good Hamilton's polelap was, driving on a knife's edge. Vettel again beaten fair and square by his young team mate Ricciardo. Ferrari still just battling with the midfield teams, though new car updates appear to work. And McLaren. Yes, what happened to them since Melbourne???

Ricciardo showing maybe how "not so good' Webber was and how good the Redbull was in the past...where that leaves vettel? Anyway, I did said before the races start that Redbull will bounce back, although they seems to perform better on wet condition. if the race is dry tomorrow the order might change behind the Mercedes and hopefuly see Ferarri in the mix? |

Lewis was unstoppable. He obviously thrives in full wet but struggles in changeable. But he was pretty amazing. |

They are all amazing in amazing cars, although I recognise Hamilton did a very good job. Just check the weather forecast this morning, it looks like it's going to be dry for the race. |

I kind of agree, although I guess Ron is as much to blame. Frustrating days for Jenson fans though at least he's keeping Kev very very honest, he doesn't seem to be the next Lewis Hamilton after all. It was noteworthy that they gave both days in Bahrain testing to him. Guess they thought he needed it. As for Mclaren I think neither the first few away from Europe races nor the weather not allowing upgrades to be assessed is helping much. Though of course that is the same for everyone. I also think this Mclaren is not great in the wet whereas the RBR is the other way around. If it's dry watch Button finish top 5 (he says hopefully) |
