Welcome to the 8th Annual TPL Fantasy Formula 1 Game brought to you by Lord Tau. I hope this season is as exciting and thrilling as the last one! Last season, we crowned Jack the Totally Undisputed TPL Fantasy Formula 1 World Champion. He joins pedal power, two-time champion Shuvvi, Red Andy, ELUSIVEJIM and Rob in the Fantasy F1 Hall of Fame. This year, who will be added to that illustrious list of names? Will it be YOU? How to Play The rules have not changed since last season. The F1 drivers for 2014 have been placed into 3 pools. Each player must pick one driver from each of the pools. The pools are as follows: Pool A Sebastian Vettel Daniel Ricciardo Nico Rosberg Lewis Hamilton Fernando Alonso Kimi Raikkonen Jenson Button Kevin Magnussen Pool B Romain Grosjean Pastor Maldonado Sergio Perez Nico Hulkenberg Adrian Sutil Esteban Gutierrez Jean-Eric Vergne Daniil Kvyat Felipe Massa Valtteri Bottas Pool C Jules Bianchi Max Chilton Kamui Kobayashi Marcus Ericsson In addition, each player must choose one of the 11 Constructors for their team. However, a player may not select a team which has one of their drivers driving for them. For example, if a player selected Sebastian Vettel from Pool A, they will not be able to select Red Bull as their team. After each race, each player is entitled to make TWO changes to their lineup, so long as the team still consists of one driver from Pool A, B, and C and one team with none of the player's drivers in it. Scoring Drivers score points in the following way: 5 points are awarded for a driver qualifying on pole Finishing points will be awarded according to the 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 scoring system. Fastest laps are worth 3 points each. In addition, for every place made up from their place on the starting grid, one point is awarded. However, if a driver finishes below their starting place, they score minus points. So, for example - a driver qualifies in 16th and finishes in 8th will score 8 points, but a driver starting 2nd and then finishing 22nd (i.e. through retirement) will incur a 20 point penalty! Constructors score points in the following way: 5 points are awarded for pole position Any championship points scored by the team are awarded to you as well, again based on the 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 scoring system. Fastest laps are worth 1 point each. In addition, if both cars are classified at the end of the race, a 5 point bonus is recieved. If no cars are classified at the end, a 5 point penalty is recieved. 2 bonus points are awarded to any player who correctly guesses which lap the fastest lap of the race occurred on. Finally, if a driver or team is disqualified from the race, a 10 point penalty is incurred. The Joker If you think you have picked the perfect lineup for a particular race, you may elect to play your Joker. A Joker may only be used once in the season, so use it wisely. Playing your Joker doubles your score for that race. Be advised, if you play a Joker and end up with a minus total, the negative effects are doubled too! Pit Stop Tie Breaker Prediction Bonus!! You can earn extra points in the Pit Stop Tie Breaker Prediction Bonus. Simply tell me the total number of pitstops that you think will be made throughout the 2014 season. Get it spot on, and earn yourself 50 bonus points at the end of the season. Also, in the event of tied standings in the table, positions will be sorted by the closest prediction. To be eligible for the bonus, your Pit Stop Prediction must be made before the start of the first GP. The bonus is not affected by the Joker. The Winner The winner is the player with the most points at the end of the season. Good Luck! |

Hi LT, two questions: Will the last race of the season, in Abu Dhabi, carry double points as in the new official scoring for 2014? and if a race is stopped before three-quarter-distance was completed, will the half points rule apply? Just curious. Perhaps the answers might be added to the official TPL Fantasy Formula 1 Game ruling system. |

Hi Jack To answer your questions: 1. There will be no double points in Abu Dhabi, unless you use your joker. 2. However, if the race is stopped before the 3/4 point, the championship points earned will be halved (there is precedent for this when we had half points in Malaysia that time). I shall add these to the official rules for next time! |
