Has RBR gotten confused and given Vettel the parts that should have been on Ricciardo car?

I don't know about anyone else, but I am loving the RBR problems.

It looks like Mercedes, McLaren and Ferrari are looking pretty strong, so the championship should start very well.

Expect to see lots of fist pumping, shouts of joy in either English or Spanish but no fingers.

Yes. No more fingers.

Kamui 'Koba' driving the Caterham during testing last days has been quite blunt with some statements to the journalists in Bahrain about their trouble with the Renault power unit, saying they have a long way to go to match engine rivals Mercedes and Ferrari.

Koba actually drove 66 laps, but still he said:
Quote:

Our team has been unable to focus on our 2014 car as a result of the early software and hardware issues with the brand new turbocharged 1.6-litre V6 power unit.

This is what we have in our hands right now so we have to help them (Renault) to be able to fight with the other engine manufacturers.  At the moment, we are definitely too weak pace-wise, so we give the maximum chance to them and thereafter we have to work on our car.  So we are waiting for the engine system.

During testing, we meet some other cars and clearly we can see that the Mercedes-powered cars are much quicker on the straights, around 20-30km/h more.  It would mean different braking points, everything, if we had proper power. We will see what we can do in a short time. At the moment, we are definitely quite late.  The slow corners are also causing a huge problem, due to the engine's power output.

Wonder what they think about that kind of PR at Renault...

Testing in Bahrain has placed the 3 engine makers in these brackets:
Mercedes powered cars 1.33 - 1.34,
Ferrari ones around the 1.36 - 1.39,
Renaults around 1.40-1.44.

Quite a big difference, so will be interesting to see if that gap is getting closed in last testing or we wont see the true speed till the Melbourne qualifier.

Speed Trap Measures by February 22nd:

Alonso; 336,4 km/h,
Kevin Magnussen: 330,2 km/h,
Felipe Massa: 327,2 km/h.
--
Renault Powered:
Jean-Eric Vergne: 308,5 km/h
Sebastian Vettel: 301,6 km/h
Kamui Kobayashi: 301,5 km/h

This could become embarrassing for Renault in Melbourne.
Chilton lapping Vettel?
