Results so far today:
1 Hulkenberg Force India 1m36.880s
2 Hamilton Mercedes 1m37.908s +1.028
3 Magnussen McLaren 1m38.295s +1.415
4 Alonso Ferrari 1m39.628s +2.748
5 Vettel Red Bull 1m40.224s +3.344
6 Sutil Sauber 1m40.443s +3.563
7 Frijns Caterham 1m42.900s +6.020
8 Kvyat Toro Rosso 1m44.346s +7.466
9 Grosjean Lotus 1m44.832s +7.952

Vettel just managed to clock the 10th timed lap for Red Bull, so at least they now start to get some track experience with their new package. Reading the lap times across the drivers, sandbags still in action as mileage is priority over fast lap times.

Vettel just spun off. Did not appear as typical spin, but more like engine/gearbox blocking. Fluids coming out front left. Red Bull team quick to shuttle to the place and cover up the car. And (unusually <think>) Vettel very eager to cool the car:

I guess the fans the teams now seem to have going into the engine compartment are to cool the turbo down and stop it from damaging itself or nearby components. Apparently the Red Bull car usually smells of burning even when it hasn't come to grief, which must be a concern for them.

Has RBR gotten confused and given Vettel the parts that should have been on Ricciardo car?

Surprisingly Caterham appear to be the only Renault powered team that really got going today. Think I heard they also are the only Renault powered team using a more conservative power package, so that may explain some? <think>

Agree with P1, does seem strange that of all the renault teams, caterham managed the most laps.

Think AN needs to give them a visit

Newey is famous for making a very tight package and this year's initial Red Bull may be one of those gone too far. Expect to see them have to open up the rear bodywork leading to the exhaust area as well as potentially opening more vents for cooling the energy recovery system.

FIA regulations require btw the engines to be homologated by the end of February, so just 8 days remain to finalise the power units for Renault.

The revitalized Williams team has done great so far, getting plenty of testing mileage and mixing fastest lap times with the best.
Lets hope they can carry that into the race season! <thumbsup>

Well they managed to run more than 20 laps today, so I guess things are looking up for RBR.

At least the Red Bull Team has not lost their sense of humour. Today they tweeted that they have only 348 laps to go, to catch up to Mercedes, Ferrari and McLaren.

Btw, the new guy Magnussen in McLaren signs off the day with a blinder.
Ending the day 1.535s clear of nearest rival (and Wednesday benchmark Hulkenberg).
For reference, the Dane's 1m34.910s is 2s quicker than last year's fastest race lap in the Bahrain GP. Know lap times does not mean so much just yet, but proves the new F1 car/power unit package is not way off last years speed.
