In a modest farmhouse, which belonged to the owners died without leaving an heir, an American couple buys a house in the country and a few months later opened a barn and does not find a needle: find a treasure in a museum that would be the envy of cars ...A story that seems like a fairy tale. A couple of retired New Yorkers had decided to change his life and leave the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple to live in the sweetest way across the Atlantic, almost opposite to "home."

So she started looking for a house in Portugal and found a good opportunity in a judicial sale, identifying modest farmhouse to renovate , whose owners had died without leaving an heir. The State had put up for sale the property to recover the taxes that no one could pay, amounting to about half of the real value, though not very high.

In the estate there was a disused barn , however, protected by thick steel doors . No one had ever questioned this "protection" not ordinary . In any case, after 15 years of neglect and the fact that no one had made offers to buy the property, had launched the judicial sale.

The pair of retired Americans has decided to buy the property in the condition in which he found himself , finding very affordable purchase price and the possibility to restructure, as in Portugal, the economic crisis is making it more affordable for foreigners is the 'purchase of properties that investment.

After making the deed, the New York couple has been waiting a few months to start the renovations, but at some point had to deal with the issue of the barn to be demolished , as well protected by the thick doors. So, after retrieving a shearer to break the thick chains that closed the doors and a generator to shed light in the immense deposit, the couple has taken action.

And at this point the husband and wife found themselves in front of a treasure trove of Mechanical decides to vintage cars, some even racing, covered by a blanket of dust, but still in good condition. Alfa Romeo, BMW, Austin, Lancia , Opel, Matra, Lotus, Volvo, single-seater formula , Porsche, in short, a car park worthy of an automotive museum, estimated at the end of 36 million dollars , which is just talking about the goose bumps.

No word yet on what the U.S. couple will make this extraordinary treasure, but we'd like - as the final of this modern fairy tale - it would make a car museum named after the original owners , as in the passage of an ideal baton in a relay race between generations face the preservation of local cultural heritage and European level. If you avvedano politicians of the lowest quality in power in Europe waning in this unnatural way: the car is a key pillar of European economic history . Demolish the foundations of a cultural crime, even before the statement.

What's the point???

Why have great cars sitting in a barn.

Different if they were being looked after but this is just a waste

As long as they are in arid conditions and not humid, they will be good pretty much indefinitely. Dust won't kill them, damp and rust will....
