From the BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-24028767

The remaining four Indian men accused of rape and murder have been convicted. They say they will appeal but that will not likely be successful. The evidence against them is too strong.

Before their appeal is entertained, however, they will be given sentencing.

The death penalty is now available in India for rape, but that would not be expected except in extreme cases. This is an extreme case. The convicted planned the attack long before selecting their victim. They beat their victims brutally. After they finished their orgasms, they then took a metal rod and shoved it brutally inside the victim, causing massive internal injuries. They then dumped the victims, naked, outside their moving bus.

They then went about cleaning up the evidence. They have no apparent remorse.

The death penalty is completely appropriate and necessary.

In India, 50% of men surveyed think that rape and beating of women is acceptable.

It is not just India. In South Asia and much of the Pacific, more than 50% of men surveyed (about 10,000 surveyed) admitted to rape. Furthermore they did not think there was anything wrong or unusual - most thinking they were entitled one way or the other.

Abuse of women needs to end. As a species we cannot be proud of ourselves when so many are willing to treat others with such an absence of regard.

This societal character flaw is not restricted to any country or race. It is something that needs to be addressed globally.

And now they have received the death sentence.

From BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-24078339

As they were led into the courtroom they were heard to shout "Save us brothers". This is indicative of their views towards women and the difference between appropriate treatment of men versus women.

To this day they show zero remorse. They show zero notion of responsibility or understanding of how heinous were their actions.

Amnesty International is claiming the death penalty will do no good. AI is saying the focus should instead be on changing societal values.

AI is, as usual, missing pretty much everything of importance.

The sentence is death by hanging. OK I suppose. I would prefer, instead, a solid beating and then death by shoving a metal re-bar up their rectums so far that it causes massive internal injuries and ultimately death. Maybe follow Vlad the Impaler's techniques.

Film it and show the video in all the villages and cities of India as a demonstration of what happens to rapists like this.

No sitting on the fence for me, I suppose.
