| Maybe the Maldives aren't paradise; not for rape victims anyway. | |

It's hard to believe, but a 15-year-old rape survivor has been sentenced to be whipped 100 times in public! Sign the on-line letter! |

Don't get me started. I am trying to behave. When do gooders, typically from the developed nations, try to protect the weak, we are invariably attacked for meddling, not understanding and so forth. I watched a news debate with two retired diplomats/ministers. One from Pakistan and the other from India. The discussion was human rights abuses. These two nutters kept insisting the problem was with the US and the west, because they didn't understand the issues. I kid you not. Even in this forum I have been accused of being biased and a bigot when I pointed out the foibles of religious excesses (in fact again don't get me going on all that nonsense) and the abuses of women in India, as one example. In fact I was really accused of being a racist in my criticism of India, notwithstanding it is the number one country in the world for gender selected abortions, and seems to have a tad of a problem with gang rapes. But that is the west's problem. Honestly petitions to the governments involved mean little. Publicize those countries' products and major companies, and put it on you tube and other social media. When we find out their products on supermarket shelves or we know what travel agencies specialize in these countries, then we can send out emails. Lots of them. I think that is way better than a silly petition. So H16, if you can get a few email addresses of significant businesses in the Maldives, I am confident I can get 100 people to send emails to those businesses. Cheers mate. Glad people like you care. |

The UK is not much better when it comes to child sexual abuse or rape victims. The court system in this country is SHOCKING. If you are a child and you are being abused by an adult unless you have DNA evidence you have had it. It is the childs word against the abusers which means no charge. The police are as helpful as a chocolate fireguard. I hope no one has to find this out for themselves. Makes me |

You only have to look at the Jimmy Saville cover up. Not only did he get away with it for half a century, but NOBODY who covered up for him in the BBC, POLICE, NHS ETC have been charged. Some unrelated cases with gary glitter, and couple of forgotten comedians might go to court. Even now its being covered up. |

You are spot on. There was a shocking case last Month in the North East of Scotland when a young woman was drugged and two guys performed indecent acts on this woman which I will not go into details about. They also smeared feces in her hair and face. The girl did not know the extent of what happened as she was drugged but she heard about it at a later date when these guys boasted about their crime on Facebook. She went to the police and they said that they can not access Facebook due to privacy laws. Anyway it went to court and the full extent of what happened was proved by witnesses who were at the house under cross examination. Long story short they both plead guilty and the judge gave them community service. Honestly

I believe Savile is just the tip of the iceberg. Tom Watson MP suggested in parliament that there may have been a wider paedophile ring that Savile moved in, and the fact that his behaviour was apparently an "open secret" at the BBC and other institutions over the years suggests that there is far more to this than meets the eye. Unfortunately the BBC seem more interested in self-flagellating than they are in actually investigating these very serious allegations. Around the time the Savile story blew up, a former child actor made sex abuse allegations against a sitting member of the coalition Cabinet (not Lord McAlpine, who was falsely accused). Neither the media nor, apparently, the police seem to have followed this up. And Savile was, of course, a close personal friend of Margaret Thatcher. Makes you wonder what else there is that we don't know about. It all sounds very David Icke - and I'm not quite prepared to believe in lizard people just yet - but it does seem that there is a huge cover-up going on. How far does it go? |
