normally work like that is done over the weekend and the contractor has to give the railway back to the operator in good condition and if they dont and cause delays they get fined a huge amount and might not get any further jobs on the railways. One firm that i used to work for , we had night time possession from 9pm till 9am to survey some old Victorian brick tunnels for flooding and leaks in the brickwork, anytime we knocked anything into the brickwork or anything fell down on to the lines there where guys there to clean it up and make sure the lines would be operable in the morning. Around 5am we had to stop work and another crew came along the lines to make sure there where no obstructions and it was safe to hand it back to the railway operator. The operator had there own guys there to check as well. |

Thanks for that info, seems like a very tightly controlled operation. I wish they used that system when they dig up the roads. |
